Chapter 816

Chapter 816

Warren sat in the car, watching how Amelia smiled gently at their son Aiden when he returned fromschool. She once showed such a smile to him, but he had destroyed it himself!

Every time he thought of the gentleness and love she showed him in the past, the regret threatened todrown him.

How much love she had for him in the past was equivalent to how much hurt she felt now.

Just like that, Warren remained in the car, watching them. Even when it was dark, he still couldn’t bearto leave. Every second he stayed there was a second more he could stare at them, and it waswonderful.

It was not until the lights in the shop went out that he finally gently closed his eyes.

He wondered, “Has it been yet another day?” Every day he passed now was actually a kind of torturefor him as he suffered through the pain of unreciprocated feelings. It had only been five years.

How many more five years would he have to go through? Even his own flesh and blood refused toacknowledge him as his father.

Warren smiled bitterly and moved to start the car. However, in the next instant, his body jerked.

The reason for that was that he had seen the figure that haunted his every thought walking out of theshop and coming toward him.novelbin

The yellow light of the street lamp illuminated her, making for a beautiful sight.

She was thin and wore a plain dress. As she had not put on any makeup, she had a rather sickly pallor.Even though the liver transplantation years ago had succeeded and she survived, the damage wasdone.

Who knew how many years it would take for her body to fully recover? Warren’s heart sank when hethought of how she had returned the many supplements he had sent her.

At that moment, Amelia was gradually nearing Warren’s car, which made him more and more nervous.

It should be a coincidence. She probably had something she needed to do that was coincidentally inthis direction. At least, that was what his

logical mind told him. After all, the last thing she wanted to see was him. Yet, there was another voicein his mind saying, “Could it really be such a coincidence? It’s so late, and the nearby shops are allclosed. Where could she go?”

Finally, when she stopped in front of his car and stared at him through the windshield, Warren trembledviolently.

She was looking right at him!

He thought, ‘She’s really here for me!

How long has it been since she stared at me like this? Could she…’

He moved to unfasten the seat belt he had just buckled, his hand trembling, then pushed open the doorand staggered out of the car. “Amelia…” Locking gazes with Amelia, Warren was at a loss. He didn’tknow what he should do or say now.

Over the years, maybe because he had experienced so many things, but his temperament becamemore and more cold. Only when facing her and his son would he be so helpless, nervous, and afraid.

Compared to Warren, Amelia was much calmer. “I’m here to tell you to please don’t come here again.”

Warren’s body stiffened while his face abruptly turned pale. “I’m just looking at you from a distance. Iwon’t disturb you. Is that… Is that not allowed either?”

“You don’t have to do this.” Amelia said, “Warren, the best ending for us is that we don’t see each otherever again. It should have been like this after the operation years ago!”

The words stung, causing him to feel pain even when he breathed. “I know that I did a lot of wrongthings back then, but I… I’m trying my best to make up for it, too. I also understand that there are somethings that I can never make up for, but Amelia, I know I was wrong! I beg you, please don’t take awaythe chance for me to even see you!”

The pain in Warren’s words was obvious. This man, who had always been superior in front of others, was currently setting aside all pride as he pleaded with the woman he loved.

Despite that, Amelia still said calmly, “What’s the point of you doing all this? What happened can’t bechanged. There’s just no way for us to be together, so what’s the difference between you getting to seeme and not?” “How do you know there is no difference? Amelia, don’t you know how

much I…”

But before he could say the word “love,” she interrupted him.

“Warren, don’t say that word. It will only make me feel creeped out.” It made her feel sick. If he reallyloved her, then she would rather him not.

She no longer wanted to hear the word “love” from him, because that only represented how stupid sheused to be in the past.

Back then, he used love as a sharp blade to hurt her badly.

Warren’s face turned paler. Under the moonlight, he seemed to be tottering.

Amelia said, “I won’t hinder the relationship between Aiden and the York family. If he wants to return tothe York family in the future and accept you as his father once more, I will not stop him. However, therewill never be anything between us anymore. If you often appear around me like this, it will only botherme.”

After saying that, Amelia turned around, planning to head back.

After all, she had already expressed what needed to be said. There was nothing else to say betweenher and Warren.

But her last sentence seemed to have set him off.

The moment she turned around, he suddenly rushed forward and grabbed her hand like a drowningman holding the last piece of floating. wood. “Bother? Why would my presence bother you? You stillhave feelings for me, don’t you?”

His tone was anxious, his dark eyes fixed on her as if he was holding on to the last ray of hope.

Amelia suddenly laughed. “Warren, why do you think I still have feelings for you? Don’t you think it’sridiculous to ask this question?”

His hand trembled. He once looked forward to seeing her smile at him, but the sight of it now merelycaused him pain.

“If not, then why haven’t you gotten together with other men in the past five years? I know that youblame me and may not trust me at all, but… Could you give me a chance to treat you and Aiden well?Aiden should have a complete family, shouldn’t he?”

He admitted that he was despicable for using their child as a bargaining chip, but he really couldn’t dowhat she suggested and not see each other ever again!

Amelia said coldly, “I have no other men because I don’t need love at all. When Aiden needed acomplete family, you couldn’t give it to him. Now, I don’t think Aiden would like to see me force myselfto stay with you for his sake!”
