Chapter 814

Chapter 814

Since the incident of Rosalie and her loved ones falling into the sea could never see the light, she knewthat even if the case about the kid was brought to court, the culprit would still be innocent until provenguilty. As long as Kurt continued to deny it, it would be difficult to convict him without first locating thechain of evidence.

Things would not go anywhere unless she secured some other dirt on him.

After all, the man had been working for Leonard for ages, so his hands most probably had long beenstained.

Once again, Rosalie made another trip to the detention center to see Kurt. That time around, however, she went there solo.

Upon catching sight of her, Kurt only uttered, “No matter what you want to ask, I have no comment.Stop wasting your breath.”novelbin

“I’m just here to say thank you,” came Rosalie’s response!

“Thank me?” Kurt seemed quite surprised.

“Thank you for saving me back then. I guess it was you who saved my life. I know it was you whocaused all this, and I hated you. Without you, Jon and I wouldn’t have been separated for five years, nor would I lose my memory, let alone be separated from my kiddo. Regardless, you still saved bothme and my child.”

As she spoke, she was also filled with complicated emotions about the man before her eyes. However, even if he did save her and her baby, she still hated his guts.

The carrot-and-stick approach would never be in her favor.

“I might never know of your motive, but I suppose you must have some sort of reason for choosing tokeep one of the children by your side instead of entrusting the kid to the Youngblood family or evenmyself. That reason of yours, I thought, must also be for the sake of the Youngblood family. After all,the Youngblood family is the most. important thing in the world to Mr. Youngblood, and what he thinks isthe most important, will be the most important thing for you as well!”

As Rosalie presented her speech, she carefully observed Kurt’s facial expression and his reaction.

Kurt’s eyes narrowed as the corner of his mouth slightly curled upward. “I

don’t follow.”

Instead of pressing the subject, Rosalie changed the topic altogether. “Also, I must thank you forhypnotizing and tampering with Jon’s memory.”

Had Kurt not hypnotized Jonathan at the very beginning, the latter would not been able to live on. Evenif he managed to survive somehow, he would have suffered an emotional meltdown.

In fact, if she could, she hoped that Jonathan would never recover some parts of his lost memory, particularly the episode where they had all fallen into the ocean.

After all, that memory was too bitter and sad.

She herself was already in great pain just listening to Carlos, let alone having Jonathan recall it.

That was especially true, for even though the operation of throwing them into the sea was carried outby Kurt alone, it was orchestrated by Leonard, Jonathan’s blood-related dear grandfather.

After dropping those words, she departed from the detention center. Deep down, she had come to aconclusion.

Sure enough, her other child still lived. Should the kid have been dead as. Kurt insisted, he would havenot averted his gaze when she brought up the matter of her child a minute ago.

On top of that, the second she mentioned that it was all for the Youngblood family’s sake, Kurt’s lipstwitched almost imperceptibly. Paying Kurt a visit that day was only her strategy for testing the waters, observing the man’s reaction, and arriving at a final deduction.

At long last, she had gotten the answer she needed-her child must still be alive somewhere.

It was still early after Rosalie came out of the detention center, almost two hours away before herchildren were done with the kindergarten for the day. With that, Rosalie went to meet up with Amelia.

When Rosalie was about to reach Amelia’s concession stand, the former caught sight of the sameblack sedan from before.

That car was still parked in the shady area in the corner like last time. From where the vehicle wasstationed, the people inside it could very well keep Amelia’s concession stand in sight.

Of course, Rosalie could tell that that had to be Warren’s car.

Warren had yet to date any woman in recent years, and he had even moved nearly half of York Groupto Strico. Rosalie reckoned that it was all for Amelia.

Sometimes, broken glass could be fixed. Then again, it would be pointless to cry over spilled milk. HadWarren not driven Amelia to the wall back then, he might have long been together with Amelia.

Rosalie approached the concession stand, only to find Amelia tying some chain sinnets. Rosalieremembered that she had also had fun doing that when she was a child, using different colors of ropesto weave bracelets, among others. The activity had been quite popular among little girls. “Amelia, whyare you making this?” Rosalie asked with a smile.

“Recently, these sinnets piqued the interest of the girls in elementary school again. Since I have time tospare, I might as well make some of these and sell them to earn some cash.” Amelia was all smiles asshe beheld Rosalie. “What brings you here?”

“I have some free time today, so I thought of coming here to catch up with you.” Rosalie then hesitatedfor a fleeting moment before

continuing, “Just now, I saw Warren’s car out there. Does he come here often?”

“Really? I didn’t pay much attention to him.” Amelia sported an

indifferent mien, seeming to have nothing to do with Warren no matter how often that name wasmentioned.

A sigh escaped Rosalie. “Amelia, if you don’t intend to forgive Warren, have you ever thought aboutfinding yourself another potential life partner? You’re still young, after all. Don’t tell me you’d rather livelike this for the rest of your life?”

Then came Amelia’s placid reply. “It’s not that I’m not forgiving Warren, Rosalie. I had already forgivenhim when he donated his liver to me back then, but that doesn’t mean that I can still love him the same.I have no feelings for him. Similarly, I don’t have the urge to go looking for love anymore.”

“But-”

“No buts. For me, it’s already a blessing to be given the chance to watch Aiden grow up. I couldn’t haveasked for more.” Amelia grinned and added, “In the future, if I get to live long enough to see Aiden getmarried and have children of his own, I’ll help him take care of his kids and spend the rest of my life inpeace. That sounds pretty good, too, don’t you

think?”

Rosalie knew that everyone had their own opinions.

In particular, given that Amelia had almost been at death’s door, she naturally had no more worldlydesires for love and romance.

Hence, Rosalie flashed a smile and dropped the topic altogether. Rather, she got all pumped up as shechatted with Amelia about knitting bracelets for her own two kids.

While chatting, Rosalie unintentionally glimpsed a tiny figure squatting at the school gate not far fromthe concession stand.

Because the school gate was closed at that hour, and there were not many people around that area, the tiny figure only looked particularly conspicuous.

“That kid…” murmured Rosalie. “Why’s he all alone at the school gate? Where’s his family?”

Amelia glanced at the school gate and said, “That’s Zeki. He was adopted by a family nearby. His eldersister started her elementary school this year, so he always squatted in front of the school gate waitingfor her after-school.”

“He’s Zeki?” Rosalie secretly exclaimed, looking very much surprised. As expected, that child was whoshe saw at the amusement park the other day.
