Chapter 73

Chapter 73

“I’m not sure either, Tallian said “I just met Zendaya She mentioned that Jonathan supported you and

you seemed to be with Jonathan, but the only man who suddenly appeared around you was Jon.That’s why I wonder if Jon is Jonathan”

After all, Jon did not appear to be a vagrant. She couldn’t find any photos of Jonathan on the Internetwhatsoever. When she searched just now, she could only find distant images or shots from behind thatlacked clear facial details.

Rosalie only sensed that Lillian’s voice in her car was becoming muddled.

She knew that Jon was not an ordinary person, and he might be either rich or powerful.

She knew that she and Jon were not from the same world.novelbin

But she never thought that Jon was Jonathan

“Indeed. Why didn’t I ever consider this? Jon could be short for Jonathan,’ she pondered.

In comparison to Melanie, the woman who died in a car accident, Jonathan had actually inflictedgreater psychological trauma upon her.

People always said that it was Jonathan’s woman whom she had killed, so she deserved to suffer thetorment.

Some who aimed to appease Jonathan deliberately caused her suffering simply because he had onceremarked. “Let her remain in prison.”

Consequently, others subjected her to torment.

“Rosalie, are you listening?” Lillian asked, sensing an unusual silence on the other end of the phone

Lillian knew the significance of Jon to Rosalie. If Jon did indeed turn out to be Jonathan, it would be asevere blow to her.

But Lillian didn’t want her friend to be fooled and be treated as a laughing stock by others, so shecalled Rosalie and revealed the truth to her.

“I… I’m listening.” Rosalie inhaled deeply, her body trembling to the point where it seemed she couldbarely hold the phone. “Lillian. L. Ill call you back.”

She mustered nearly all her strength to fully articulate that sentence.

“Okay. Rosalie, you… Don’t be too sad,” Lillian said. That was all she could say now

When the call was over, Rosalie quietly looked at Jonathan’s back through the glass door. Yes, she hadseen Jonathan’s back on the Internet before. At that time, she still thought that his back was somewhatsimilar to Jon’s.

It turned out that they were the same person. That was why their backs looked similar.

She blamed herself for her foolishness.

She silently pushed open the glass door….

At this moment, Jonathan was dealing with Alan on the other end of his phone.

“Who is the woman that was able to make you leave your grandfather behind on New Year’s Eve andrush to town to rescue her Alan’s curiosity was piqued

“How did you know about that? Jonathan asked

“I happened to meet the deputy police chief of the police station today. I heard about it from him”

Jonathan was dumbfounded What a gossipy man,” he thought.

“How about bringing that woman here and letting everyone see her? I really want to know what shelooks like,” Alan said.

After all, Jonathan had always displayed indifference towards women in their circle. Even Melanie, whoused to be engaged to lam, received the same treatment. He had never gone as far as travelingthousands of miles and mobilizing police cars to surround a house in the middle of the night to rescue awoman.

leven called Jonathan to ask about the matter afterward.

Therefore, when Alan heard this, he was stunned

However, Alan’s curiosity made Jonathan inexplicably unhappy. He didn’t want other men to be toocurious about Rosalie, and he was also reluctant for her to meet those people. He even wanted toplace her somewhere only he could access, away from prying eyes

“If Alan and the others see Rosalie, and if she harbors different feelings for any of them…” he thought.

Jonathan was well aware that Alan and his group, particularly Calvin, were quite popular with women. Itappeared that any woman Calvin took a liking to eventually became his girlfriend. Even though thesewomen understood that their titne with him would be brief, they still pursued him

“If Calvin has a crush on Rosalie…….. Jonathan was inexplicably irritated at the thought of that.

Perhaps, to others, the name Jonathan signified his ability to obtain any woman he desired. However, his name wal ironically, the largest obstacle he still grappled with.

“She’s just an average woman. There is no need to meet her.” he said indifferently.

“But this woman is different. You left your grandfather behind for her sake.” Alan said. “Well, I haven’tseen you care so much about a woman. Are you in love with her? Do want to hide her”

The more Alan said so, the more irritable Jonathan became Rosalie’s delicate face occupied his mind.An inexplicable anxiety surged in his heart.

He pondered exactly when he had begun to worry that a woman would fall in love with another man.He questioned whether he had genuinely fallen in love with Rosalie. Attempting to counter this notion,he tried to convince himself that he merely enjoyed the feeling of being with her.

He had sworn that he would never fall in love with any woman in his life!

“There is nothing special. It’s merely a game. I was rather bored and used it to pass the time. Youneedn’t be curious,” he commented casually.

But, the next moment, a crisp sound of something landing came from behind him.

His body immediately tensed. Upon turning around and spotting the person unexpectedly positionedbehind him, an abrupt surge of fear rippled through his heart, rapidly enveloping his entire being

“She… When did she arrive? How much of the conversation did she overhear?” he mused to himself.

How many years have passed since he last experienced such fear? Yet now, as he faced her, he feltan overpowering sense of trepidation, akin to having something within his grasp that he couldn’t keep.

“Jonathan.” Alan was still murmuring on the other end of the phone. Jonathan pressed the button toend the call.

There was a boundless silence between them. He didn’t put out the cigarette until it burned into hishand.

“Are you… Jonathan?” Rosalie heard herself asking. There was no anger, no crying, and no complaint. There was only

calmness.

As she pushed open the glass door and overheard him describing it as nothing more than a game, amere means of alleviating boredom, her initial tumultuous heart inexplicably settled.

That was the answer to her questions.

Otherwise, why would a person like Jonathan spend two months with her at the rental home as Jon?
