Chapter 650

Chapter 650

“Of course, I trust her,” he responded with a cold demeanor. “She will be my wife and the one who willbe with me for the rest of my life. Who do I trust if not her?”

His words cut through her like a ruthless, sharp-edged sword.

She had believed that, no matter how harsh his words might be, she would have grown numb to them.Yet, it turned out that even a simple statement like this could still inflict pain upon her.

“Warren, I’m begging you to find out if she has taken Aiden with her. That’s all I need to know. If not, I’llleave right away and stop bothering you,” she implored.

“So I’m just supposed to do whatever you told me to? Amelia, who do you think you are?” Warrenretorted sarcastically.

Amelia’s complexion turned ashen. She was at a loss for words, not knowing how to beg Warren forhelp. Perhaps, even if she were to collapse right in front of Warren, he wouldn’t bat an eye.

“Warren, I understand that we’re in a custody battle for Aiden, but the case hasn’t officially begun, andthe judgment hasn’t been rendered yet. At least, for now, please don’t take Aiden away from me,okay?” She practically pleaded in the most humble tone.

Warren’s countenance remained stern. In the past, Amelia had been so resolute in front of him, utteringruthlessly cold statements as they should never cross paths again, and even tried piercing her ownabdomen with a shard of broken glass. But now, for the sake of her son, she was willing to humbleherself in this way.

“Just how many different sides of her which I haven’t seen before are there?” Warren wondered.“Warren, please… I’m begging you,” Amelia implored. Her black eyes welled up with tears.

At this moment, Amelia appeared as fragile as if one more blow would shatter her completely. “What if Ikneel down? I’ll kneel before you. I’ll do anything you ask, as long as you let me have Aiden back first. Please, let me have him, at least until the lawsuit is settled…” Amelia was genuinely consideringkneeling down. On an impulse, Warren grabbed her hand.

“Enough!” Warren raised his voice sternly. For some inexplicable reason, he didn’t want to see Amelialike this.

He retrieved his phone and dialed a number without delay. After a brief conversation over the phone,he turned to Amelia and said, “Wait here for a while. You’ll receive an answer soon.”

“Okay. Okay. I’ll wait,” Amelia responded hastily. She then stood silently, patiently waiting. Warrenobserved Amelia who was dressed in cheap attire. Her long hair was secured with a simple andaffordable hair tie. Her complexion had lost some of its former softness, and her hands, which hung ather side, appeared rough and calloused, a stark contrast to the smooth hands he remembered from thepast.

Amelia was in this state because of Warren. If he had been willing to let Irene settle the matter out ofcourt and withdraw the complaint, she might never have spent three and a half years in prison, and shecertainly wouldn’t be in this condition now.

Warren couldn’t help but wonder why he didn’t feel satisfaction at seeing her in this state, but rather adeep sense of heartbreak.

Finally, Warren’s phone rang. Amelia jumped slightly and stared anxiously at the phone.

Warren picked up the phone, and after listening to the other party’s response, he relayed to Amelia,“Irene didn’t take Aiden away.”

“She didn’t? If it wasn’t Irene, then who could have taken Aiden away?” Amelia wondered. She couldn’tdiscern whether she was feeling relieved or more nervous.

“Thank you for checking for me,” she said, then turned around, preparing to leave.

He suddenly seized her arm. “Do you even know where to go?”

“I don’t know, but I have to find him! The police will be searching as well,” she replied, her voice filledwith

urgency.

“He is my son as well, so his disappearance concerns me too!” Warren retorted coldly. “When andwhere did he go missing?”

After obtaining crucial information, Warren swiftly issued orders to his subordinates over the phone, instructing them to locate the whereabouts of his child.

For some reason, Amelia found herself feeling reassured as Warren took action to find their child. “Thisis absurd. Warren is the last person I should trust,” she thought to herself.

Perhaps it was because she had been shouldering everything on her own for so long, and she wassimply exhausted. That was why even Warren’s involvement could provide her with a sense of relief.

Suddenly, Amelia’s phone began to ring. She quickly picked it up and abruptly dashed out of the office.

Almost instinctively, Warren followed her closely, tracking her steps all the way to the elevator. “What’shappening?”

“It’s Aiden. They’ve found him. I’m heading to the hospital to pick him up!” Amelia hurriedly explained. Itwas Rosalie on the phone who had informed her that Jonathan had helped locate Aiden. Unfortunately,Aiden had been injured and was taken to the hospital.

“At the hospital?” Warren frowned and said, “I’ll go with you.”

“No need. I’ll…”

“Amelia, he’s my son too!” Warren asserted as he stepped into the elevator when the doors opened.

Amelia bit her lip and followed him into the elevator.

Warren and Amelia headed to the hospital together. When Amelia saw her son, tears gushed out of her

eyes.

She strode forward. “Where does it hurt? Tell Mommy!”

Yet, the little boy remained silent, reaching up to gently wipe away Amelia’s tears with his small hand.

Rosalie explained, “Amelia, Aiden’s injury isn’t severe. It was just a typical kid’s scuffle. However, during the fight, Aiden’s hearing aid got damaged. He was worried you’d be upset, so he tried to repairit himself.”

However, the little guy didn’t realize that he couldn’t repair the hearing aid on his own.

Aiden appeared to understand what Rosalie was explaining. He held the damaged hearing aid in hissmall hand, placed it in front of Amelia, and then began using sign language to communicate histhoughts.

Tears streamed down Amelia’s face as she also used sign language to communicate with Aiden.Warren watched the mother and son communicate through sign language, a sudden wave of pain andsadness washing over him. This was his son, a child with impaired hearing.

During their sign language conversation, Amelia’s tears flowed more profusely. Suddenly, she raisedher hand as if she could no longer bear the emotions. She clenched her fist and struck her own chesthard. Aiden seemed startled, taking a step forward and grabbing Amelia’s hand firmly, utteringinarticulate sounds.

Amelia embraced her son and wept with anguish.

The heart-wrenching cries struck Warren deeply, leaving him feeling uncomfortable. He turned toRosalie and asked, “What’s happening? What are they saying?”

Warren felt an inexplicable sense of irritation. Not understanding sign language, he had no way ofdeciphering their conversation. As he watched Amelia who was crying so intensely, it seemed to him asif Amelia had been pushed to the brink of despair.
