Chapter 592

Chapter 592

For example, there was a popular actress who asked Calvin to kiss her in one of the shows. Eventhough it was only on her cheeks, it was enough to fulfill her wish.

However, Calvin didn’t agree. He simply said, “You are not the person I want.”

Calvin was actually good at painting, and it was said that he had an art studio full of his paintings, butthose paintings were never shown to the public.

Another example was that Calvin never allowed people to call him “Cal”, which seemed to be a taboofor him. There was once an actress who wanted to ingratiate herself with him and feigned familiarity bycalling him “Cal”, but she ended up being blacklisted until she was forced to retire from the industry.

As Rosalie listened to Lillian’s gossip, their car had arrived at the entrance to the residential area wherethe rental home was located. Lillian turned the wheel and stepped on the brake to slowly stop the car,but strangely, the brake seemed ineffective, and the car wouldn’t stop at all.

Suddenly, Lillian’s face turned pale, and her whole body stiffened.

Rosalie, who was in the passenger seat, also sensed something was wrong with her friend andhurriedly asked, “What’s wrong?”

“The brakes are not working!” Lillian said. “They were fine just now, but suddenly they failed. With thecar gradually picking up speed, it would only be a matter of time before…” she thought.

Lillian didn’t dare imagine the consequences.

“Rosalie… I… I’ll try to drive the car to an empty place. You should find a way to jump out!” Lillian saidfrantically. Although the car was out of control, the steering wheel still worked. If the car could be

steered to an empty spot where Rosalie could jump out, she would probably escape with minor injuries.

When Rosalie heard that, she immediately understood Lillian’s intention. “If I’m going to jump out of thecar, what about you? Are you going to stay in the car all the time?”

“Someone has to control the steering wheel. You jump first. I’ll find another way to jump!” Lillian saidafter taking a deep breath. It was the best idea she could come up with in such a short time.

As she spoke, she began to drive in the direction where there were fewer people and cars.

She was not a calm person. If she had encountered the incident alone, she would have panicked.Surprisingly, she was unusually calm that time.

Even then, her heart was beating violently as if it were about to explode, but she continued to drivesteadily.

“Maybe it’s because Rosalie is in the car with me!” Lillian thought.

With Rosalie still at her side, she wanted to keep her safe no matter what. She couldn’t let anythinghappen to her friend.

Her determination was so strong that it had overwhelmed her panic.

“If we’re going to jump out of the car, we should do it together!” Rosalie shouted. The longer theywaited to jump, the more dangerous it would be.

“What if the direction…”

Before Lillian could finish, Rosalie said, “Let’s take our chances. Even with no one behind the wheel, the direction of the car won’t change much in a short time. I just can’t leave you alone in the car!”

“You…” Lillian stared at her friend with a complicated expression.

“Lillian, I was in a car accident once. I saw someone die in front of me. I don’t want to go through thatagain, especially with you!” Rosalie said, “If you continue to hesitate, the car will continue to speed up.By then, both of us will be seriously injured even if we manage to jump out of the car!”

Lillian suddenly made up her mind and said, “Okay. Let’s do it. It’s now or never!”

As they talked, they quickly unfastened their seat belts. The car had reached 45 miles per hour andwas heading uncontrollably toward a remote location.

Just as it was time to jump out of the car, a truck carrying sand suddenly approached from the diagonalopposite their car. The driver saw Lillian’s car and slowed down, but he didn’t stop. According to thetraffic laws, it was Lillian who was supposed to stop.

Unfortunately, there was no way for Lillian’s car to stop.

If they hit the sand truck and the sand collapsed on them, they would be crushed by the pressure, evenif they managed to survive the impact of the vehicle collision.

At that moment, Lillian turned the steering wheel desperately, trying to swerve the car away from thesand truck as much as

possible. However, as the truck driver didn’t step on the brakes early enough, it was already too late todo so by the time he noticed that something was wrong with Lillian’s car.

When Lillian saw that the two cars were about to crash, she desperately shouted, “Rosalie, jump out ofthe car, now!”

At that moment, another car suddenly drove toward the two vehicles.

After that, a violent crash and screeching brakes echoed in the air. The front of the approaching carhad rammed into the front of Lillian’s car, forcing it to stop.

Everything seemed to be in chaos in those few seconds.

Meanwhile, the sand truck finally stopped.

Rosalie and Lillian were still in the car. The collision had left them sprawled on their seats, moaning andgroaning. However, they had survived the accident.

“We’re… alive!” they thought.

“Lillian… Are you all right?” Rosalie spoke in a struggling voice. Her bones ached, and her whole bodyfelt as if it had been torn apart.

However, their circumstances were much better than initially expected.

“I… I’m fine…” Lillian’s voice trembled. Even though it sounded painful, Rosalie was relieved to hear it.

“What just happened? We were clearly about to collide with the sand truck. What about the car thatsuddenly rammed us?”

If it hadn’t been for the car, she and Lillian would have been dead by now.

The scene flashed through Rosalie’s mind. To her, the silver-gray car rammed into them… it was as iftrying to save their lives.novelbin

If the angle wasn’t right, or if the truck didn’t stop, the silver-gray car might have collided with the truckalong with them.

Suddenly, Rosalie felt a chill run down her spine as she remembered that Calvin’s car was the samecolor and make.

‘Can it be… that’s Calvin’s car?

Is it really Calvin? How is that possible?’ Rosalie pondered.

She sat up with some difficulty, trying to bear the pain of her body as she looked through the shatteredwindow at the car that had hit them.
