Chapter 554

Chapter 554

When Jonathan was asleep, it was as though his sharp edges had all disappeared. He didn’t give off asense of oppression. Instead, he looked like a beautiful angel, making people inevitably wish to drawclose to him.

However, his brows were still creased, making him look fragile.

“Fragile?” Rosalie exclaimed inwardly.

Rosalie then burst into laughter. Just as she was about to wiggle out of his arms, his hand fumbled inher direction in a seemingly unconscious manner. He grabbed the four fingers of her right hand.

Stunned, Rosalie wanted to pull her fingers out of his hand, but it only made him grip them tighter. Itwas like he desperately wanted to protect something precious in his hand and refused to let go.

Words eluded her, and Rosalie mused to herself, “After such a long time, I still can’t get myself out ofhere. Am I really going to have to sleep with him on this bed for a night?”

She tried a few more times. Still, she couldn’t pull her hand out of his. At the end of it, she wonderedwhether he was truly asleep.

However, he never opened his eyes or did anything else.

Therefore, she could only comfort herself by thinking, “It’s not like I’ve never slept in the same bed withhim before.”

After hesitating briefly, Rosalie snagged the quilt from the side and draped it over them both. Then, shetried to put as much distance between them as possible, huddling against the edge of the other side ofthe bed.

She had thought it would be difficult for her to fall asleep in the same bed with Jonathan, but in reality, she fell asleep shortly after and slept until the next morning.

When she opened her bleary eyes, it took her a while to adapt to the glaring sunshine.

“What time is it now? Where am I?” Rosalie wondered soundlessly. She stared at the unfamiliar ceilingin a daze and tried to raise her hand to rub her eyes out of habit.

All of a sudden, she stiffened, sensing that the fingers of her right hand were in someone’s grasp atthat moment. As soon as she turned her head, Jonathan’s face entered her line of sight, and thememory of last night flooded her mind.

“I… I spent the entire night here!” she shrieked internally.

Rosalie slowly sat up, sensing that her right hand in Jonathan’s grasp had already gone numb.

Fortunately, his grip was no longer as tight as it was last night. With a little force, she managed to pullher hand out of his fingers.

On the heels of that, he could seemingly sense it. A low grunt escaped him. However, he didn’t openhis eyes. He remained asleep with his eyes closed.

Rosalie hurriedly got up. She was going to leave when she realized the abnormal flush on Jonathan’sface.

His face was very red, an abnormal red.

Moreover, his hand that held hers earlier was seemingly scorching.

“Is this because he’s slumbering deeply, or is he sick?” she mused. She hesitated momentarily, thenlifted her hand and placed it against his forehead.

In a flash, a searing heat burned her palm.

It was scorchingly hot.

Rosalie was shocked. “He… He’s running a fever, and his temperature is seemingly quite high!” shefretted soundlessly.

However, she didn’t have a thermometer at that moment, let alone antipyretics.

“Jonathan!” she hurriedly shouted, trying to wake him up. “A-Are you still conscious? Wake up!”

Jonathan’s eyelashes quivered slightly. After she had called out to him several times, he finally openedhis eyes slowly, his gaze landing on her face.

“You’re running a fever! Is there any antipyretic or the like in the house? Or can you quickly contactsomeone to take the hospital?” she said.

Jonathan slowly sat up. Looking at her, he questioned, “Why didn’t you take this opportunity to leave?”

“Will I be able to leave this house?” Rosalie asked in return.

you to

The corners of Jonathan’s mouth lifted, and he smirked. However, it carried a sense of fragility due tohis fever. You’re right. You can’t leave this place without my consent!”

“Come on! Is this the time to say something like that?” Rosalie griped inwardly.

Aloud, she pressed, “Do you have any medicine? Your temperature is pretty high, so you need to takemedicine now!” She felt it was probably because he got drenched in the rain last night.

“No,” Jonathan replied placidly.

“Where’s your phone, then? Contact Carlos, your secretary, and have him drive you to the hospital,”Rosalie urged.

“I don’t need to go to the hospital.” Frowning, Jonathan added, “It’s just a fever. I will be fine in a day ortwo.”

“Even if you don’t go to the hospital, have Carlos buy some antipyretics at least,” Rosalie asserted.

Jonathan pursed his thin lips and didn’t say a word. Instead, he flipped off the quilt on him and got outof bed.

“Don’t tell me you’re afraid of taking medicine?” Rosalie said casually.

Unexpectedly, Jonathan stiffened and looked at her with an unnatural expression. His face, which wasalready flushed, seemed to reddened even further.

Rosalie was stunned. She exclaimed soundlessly, “For real? Is he really scared of taking medicine? But I remember buying him gastric medicine in the past. At that time, he wasn’t afraid!”

“So, do you love me?” Jonathan asked out of the blue.

Rosalie blanked out. She didn’t understand why he suddenly asked that question, but she still replied,“No.”

Jonathan’s eyes dimmed slightly. A derisive smirk curved his lips. “If you don’t love me, why are youpretending to care about me? Since I’m running a fever now, you’d finally get some peace.”

“Then, why don’t you let me go so that I can really have peace?” Rosalie retorted.

Jonathan gritted his teeth and glared at her. “Don’t even think about leaving this house before you fallin love with me!” Rosalie suddenly felt that Jonathan was like a child throwing a tantrum at that

moment, downright willful.

“Is it because he’s having a fever?” she wondered.

At the sight of Jonathan heading toward the bathroom, Rosalie swiftly stepped forward and grabbed hisarm. “Do you

know…”

Normally, her strength would only be enough to stop him in his tracks, but at that moment, it made himstumble and fall toward her.

Caught off guard, Rosalie fell backward from Jonathan crashing against her.

She subconsciously closed her eyes and waited for the pain that would follow.

A loud thud and a muffled grunt sounded in the room.

However, it was not the sound of her body hitting the ground.

Underneath her was not the cold floor. Instead, it was a warm body..

Rosalie promptly opened her eyes, only to see Jonathan lying under her.

“So, he turned us around while he was falling just now to avoid me from hitting the ground?” sheexclaimed inwardly.

“Does it hurt?” Jonathan’s eyelashes quivered slightly, and his ebony eyes were fixed on her anxiously.

Suddenly, an indescribable feeling welled within Rosalie. She should be the one asking him if it hurt atthat moment, but it was the other around.novelbin
