Chapter 535

Chapter 535

However, according to Rosalie’s investigation, Warren had always been proud and arrogant, so shehoped that it would work one way or another.

If not, she would have no choice but to ask Callum to arrange a new job for Amelia.

Rosalie turned around and left once she said her piece, whereas Warren turned to look at Irene, whowas beside him. “Why did you do it?”

Irene blanched and bit her red lip lightly, replying, “I just… wanted to help you. I know how much youwant to obtain custody. If… If Amelia doesn’t have enough income, the court… will never awardcustody to her.”

Warren pursed his thin lips and gazed at Irene with his dark eyes intensely.

Guilt washed over Irene as she felt like he was seeing through her. In reality, she didn’t send people totrouble Amelia for the custody case at all. She simply wanted to vent her anger.

After all, it was because of Amelia and Aiden that Warren unexpectedly left the banquet that was meantto announce their wedding date, making her a laughingstock in the entire city.

“Do not do such a thing again. Don’t interfere in the custody case!” Warren rebuked.

Irene hummed softly in acknowledgment, then wore a remorseful, helpless expression. “I’m sorry,Warren. I was just trying to help you, but I didn’t know you wouldn’t like it… I’ll listen to you and stopdoing it in the future. Don’t be mad anymore, okay?”

Seeing Irene’s pitiful demeanor, Warren sighed faintly, “I’m not mad.”

“Really? I… I thought you were mad at me because of Amelia. I’m so afraid that you still have feelingsfor her.” While speaking, Irene clutched Warren’s arm as if she genuinely feared losing this man.”

Amelia’s face emerged in Warren’s mind once more, and he recalled how she had cried before him andsaid she never wanted to cross paths with him again. The scene where she ruthlessly pricked herabdomen with the broken glass also replayed in his head, alongside how pale she was when shepanicked and begged him not to fight for Aiden’s custody.

He thought, ‘Why? Why is it that every time I think about these, my heart seems to be aching mildly?

Because of lingering feelings? But I’ve never fallen for that woman at all. How could there possibly belingering feelings? I was only kind to her for revenge.”

Warren was initially supposed to take revenge on Amelia’s father, but since the man was long dead, hetook revenge on Amelia instead.

Therefore, he was confident he would never have any lingering feelings for Amelia.

“You’re overthinking things. Don’t think too much anymore. You’re the only one I love,” Warren said in adeep voice.

Irene flashed a smile, lowered her head gently, and leaned against his arm, saying tenderly, “I love you,Warren. I truly love you so much that I will do anything for you.”

She thought, ‘Yes, I’ll do anything, including completely erasing Amelia from your heart!

The man that I, Irene Fletcher, want must only have me in his heart! There needs to be no otherwomen!”

As Rosalie had finished her business at the banquet today, she planned to inform Lillian before leaving.

When she found Lillian, the latter was gazing at a popular male celebrity of the entertainment industrywith starry eyes seemingly conversing with the other party, while Callum, who stood aside, appearedhelpless and glum.

Rosalie could understand Callum’s current mood, but this was inevitable, for Lillian was a fangirl ofcelebrities. Since Callum brought Lillian here, he ought to have expected such a scene in advance.

Still, based on Rosalie’s understanding of her best friend, no matter how hyped up Lillian was over acertain celebrity, it never went beyond pure admiration. For Lillian, the one she loved had always beenCallum.

The fact that Callum was willing to accompany Lillian here like this was also a kind of indulgence andlove.

Rosalie was glad for Lillian to meet such a supportive boyfriend and find happiness. She hoped that thelatter would continue to live in such bliss for the rest of her life.

and

Only after Lillian finished talking with that popular celebrity did Rosalie approach and say, “I’m leavingnow. Just came to let you know.”

Lillian said in surprise, “You’re going back so soon? Why? Stay a little longer! It’s such a rareopportunity to meet so many celebrities today.”

Rosalie replied, “Go ahead without me. You should know that I’m, um… not that interested incelebrities.”

Lillian gave it a thought and agreed with that sentiment, so she stopped persuading Rosalie to stay.“Have you met Irene and

“Yeah, we’ve talked. As for whether Amelia will have any more troubles, we’ll have to see.” Rosalieleaned close and whispered to her friend, “Hey, even if you’re excited to meet celebrities, at leastconsider your boyfriend’s feelings.”

“It’s fine. My Callum is the most understanding man ever,” stated Lillian confidently.

“Understanding?” parroted Rosalie inwardly. At this moment, she genuinely sympathized with the“understanding” Callum a

little.

“All right, I’ll get going, then,” Rosalie said.

Then, she walked toward the exit of the venue, musing that Calvin was likely with Fiona now. Shedecided to thank him and return the gown she currently wore tomorrow.

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, her arm was grabbed by someone out of nowhere. When shelooked back, Calvin’s face instantly came into her view.

“You’re leaving?” he asked.

“Mhm. I’ve finished my task for today. Thank you,” Rosalie thanked again. “As for this gown on me, I’lltake it to your workplace to return to you tomorrow.”novelbin

“You don’t have to. Keep the gown,” Calvin said.

“It’s too expensive. I can’t accept it.” Judging by its workmanship and those inlays, Rosalie estimatedthat the gown would cost at least hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“You’ve already worn it. Who do you expect me to give it to after you return it to me? Or do you thinkthere’s a woman who’s willing to accept a gown worn by others as a gift?” Calvin raised an eyebrow.

In a flash, Rosalie was rendered speechless.

“If you really return the gown to me, I will only throw it away,” Calvin added. In truth, he simply hopedshe would keep it for

herself.

That was because when she put on the gown, it was as if she had given him a beautiful fantasy, making him feel that his dream had become reality.

“If you’re going back, I’ll drive you home,” Calvin continued.

“Don’t you have to… accompany others?” Rosalie queried meaningfully, having noticed Fiona hadlooked like she wanted nothing more than for Calvin to keep her company earlier.

“No, I just want to accompany you,” replied Galvin, staring fixedly at the woman in front of him. “Fionais indeed the little girl I’ve been looking for and my life savior, but you are the one I love! Rosalie, I hopeyou never get this wrong.”
