Chapter 391

Chapter 391

But it was the first time Jonathan had ever set foot in this place.

When Jonathan followed the search party and walked step by step in this dense forest, what flashedthrough his mind was Calvin’s painting that he saw in the Gunner family’s studio.

In the painting, a petite girl walked step by step in a dense forest with a little boy on her back.

The little girl’s back was bent very low as if she could hardly bear the weight of the boy. But even so,the little girl kept moving forward.

Step by step, the little girl walked with difficulty.

Jonathan didn’t feel anything when he saw the painting for the first time, but now when he took the littleboy and girl in the painting as Calvin and Rosalie, he was panic-stricken.

What was Jonathan panicking about? Was it the invisible tie between Calvin and Rosalie that Jonathancould not break at all though he had done so many tricks secretly?

Was it the fact that Rosalie would always have Calvin in her heart though she lost her memory now andthat she would still be with Calvin when she restored her memory?

Or, was Jonathan afraid that Rosalie actually didn’t love him so much and would betray him one day?

“Jonathan, you look not good. Do you want to have a rest?” Carlos asked. At this moment, Jonathan’sface was pale.

Jonathan shook his head and said, “No need. It’s getting dark. Keep searching!”

Jonathan’s worry would only increase if the search was dragged out!

There were more and more trees in the mountains. Because it was midsummer, the branches andleaves were even luxuriant, layer upon layer, which blocked a lot of light.

“Wait, there seems to be a sound in front. It sounds like footsteps!” The searcher who was walking inthe front suddenly said.

Upon hearing that, everyone stopped.

The sound of footsteps was steady and powerful.

A figure then slowly came into the sight of everyone.

It was a man walking over with a woman on his back.

Jonathan’s heart skipped a beat, and he only felt that the blood all over his body seemed to havefrozen in an instant.

Jonathan thought, “That’s… indeed Calvin and Rosalie!”

Did the thing that Jonathan was afraid of still happen? The scene Jonathan saw at the time was likewhat he saw in the painting he had seen before. The only difference was that the two figures in thepainting switched their positions.

Rosalie was lying on Calvin’s back with her head resting on Calvin’s back, making it hard for others tosee clearly her face. Calvin walked forward step by step….

Suddenly, Calvin stopped and looked up. He was slightly stunned when he saw a group of searcherswith rescue equipment

in front of him.

Then, his charming eyes passed these people in front and fixed on a tall figure standing there.

Calvin looked straight at Jonathan. He didn’t expect that he would meet Jonathan in such a remote anddense forest today. He thought, “Well… Looks like the forest will be lively today!”

“What’s wrong?” Rosalie asked when she sensed that Calvin stopped. She had been a little dizzybecause of the headache.

When Rosalie saw the tall figure in the crowd in front of them, she was surprised. “J-Jon!”

Rosalie thought, “Why is Jon and those people here? He must come to find me. I was delayed andhave stayed too long on the mountain. He must be very worried about me.”

Rosalie subconsciously wanted to run to Jonathan but then realized that she was still being carried byCalvin. She hurriedly said to Calvin, “You… put me down first.”

“Are you going to Jonathan’s side?” Calvin’s cold voice sounded.

“Yes,” Rosalie answered with certainty.

“Rosalie, once I put you down now, then from now on, no matter what happens to you, I will not care. You are just a stranger to me. Do not call me ‘Cal’ since then. It is not for a stranger.”

Calvin’s words sounded like a warning and a goodbye.

Rosalie suddenly felt sad, and her heart seemed to be gripped by something. She felt depressed.

Rosalie thought, “Why do I feel depressed? Is it because I lied to him, or is it because a playmate inchildhood becomes a stranger now?”

“I see, Mr. Gunner,” Rosalie said.

Their voices were so low that only they could hear each other.

Calvin bent down and put Rosalie down. Carlos, who was standing beside Jonathan, was shocked bythis scene.

Carlos thought, “Calvin is as noble as a prince in the entertainment industry. Has he ever carried awoman like this? If those reporters in the entertainment industry are here at this moment, they might beshocked! It’s just…”

Carlos looked at Jonathan uneasily. But to his surprise, Jonathan was calmer than he thought at thetime.

Jonathan just looked at Calvin and Rosalie with his back straight.

But the calmer Jonathan was, the more scared Carlos became. He felt uneasy as if it was just the calmbefore the storm and as if something would happen soon.

Rosalie got off Calvin’s back. Just as she was about to walk towards Jonathan, Calvin grabbed herwrist. She couldn’t help but pause and look at Calvin in confusion.

“Fortunately, you are not,” Calvin suddenly said this inexplicably, and then he let go of Rosalie’s wristagain before Rosalie could react.

Rosalie looked at Calvin in a daze. After a while, her eyes fixed on the wrist that Calvin had justgrasped.

When Rosalie fell off the cliff, Calvin also firmly grabbed her wrist and pulled her up.

If it were not for Calvin today, Rosalie would have been groaning with pain under the cliff now.

“Calvin…” Rosalie took a deep breath. This time, she didn’t call him “Mr. Gunner”. “Thank you!”

After that, Rosalie smiled gently and then turned around to walk towards Jonathan.

Just now… Rosalie expressed her appreciation, but meanwhile, it was also her way to say goodbye toCalvin.

Rosalie thanked Calvin for his devotion to the agreement they made when they were just kids. For thisagreement, Calvin had been looking for her for years. She also thanked Calvin for saving her when shealmost fell off the cliff.

Calvin fixed his eyes on Rosalie’s back and watched her walk towards Jonathan.novelbin

At that moment, Calvin felt lucky in his heart. He thought, “Fortunately… she is really not the one I amlooking for. Otherwise, I might be unable to let her go just now.”

If Rosalie were the one Calvin had been looking for, Calvin might have grabbed Rosalie’s wrist firmly tokeep her by his side though he knew that Rosalie loved Jonathan and the Gunner family would beinvolved in trouble if he competed with Jonathan.
