“Rosie, how important is she to you?” he asked as he stared at her.
“Very important!” she answered without hesitation.
“Is she more important than me?” His voice was filled with jealousy.
She was stunned and said, “You guys are incomparable.”
Jonathan was the person she loved, and Lillian was her best friend. Those two feelings she had towardthem were unrelated. “But…” She thought for a while and added, “You and her are the people I canprotect with my life. So you guys are both important to me.”
Aglint flashed across his eyes. Rosalie thought that he would be satisfied with her explanation, sinceshe said she would protect him with her life.
Jonathan wondered, “However, why can’t I be the only one important to her?”
