Chapter 179

Chapter 179

In the past, Jonathan would never leave the Youngblood residence on this day, even if something bighappened at night. He would spend the entire night by his father’s memorial tablet, reminding himselfnot to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Year after year, it had always been the case.

But tonight. it changed!

Rosalie was taken out of the hospital by Jonathan.

A black car stopped at the hospital entrance. After getting inside, Rosalie felt as if she were in a dream. She had anticipated tonight to be a nightmare, but she never expected him to show up.

He put

his hand on her and asked, “Scared?” Even at this moment, her hand still trembled slightly.

Rosalie bit her lower lip and nodded. Indeed, how could she not be scared: It was as if her fate wasentirely in someone else’s hands, and all her struggles felt so helpless.

It was like someone else’s words could determine her life or death.

“I was careless today,” Jonathan said. “I thought my grandfather wouldn’t bother you for the time being.I never expected him to be so impatient and choose today of all days.”

She was stunned. “Today… Is there anything special?”

When she asked that, his expression subtly changed. He pursed his thin lips, and his beautiful, deep-set eyes stared straight at her as if he was going to swallow her whole.

The atmosphere in the car suddenly became depressed.

Rosalie felt uneasy, wanting to pull her hand back, but Jonathan tightened his grip, holding her handfirmly in his palm. He stared at her silently for a while before turning to look out of the window.

Rosalie felt a little puzzled. “Is there something that can’t be discussed on this day?’ she thought.

When he had been staring at her just now, she had felt as if she had touched upon some sort of taboofor him.

The car arrived at the Youngblood residence. Rosalie followed Jonathan out of the car.

“It’s late tonight. You should get some rest. My grandfather made his move today and already knew theanswer he wanted. He won’t casually bother you again, so you don’t need to be afraid anymore.”Jonathan said. As grandfather and grandson, he could casily understand the reason behind Leonard’schoice to act today with just a little thought..

Rosalie hummed in response. Jonathan sent her back to the room. Just as she entered the room, shenoticed he wasn’t heading toward his room next to hers, but was instead walking in the direction of thestairs leading downstairs,

“He’s going downstairs Rosalie thought and was stunned for a moment.

At night, she lay in bed. Somehow, she couldn’t fall asleep, tossing and turning.

She kept replaying in her mind the scene of Jonathan walking toward the stairs, thinking. “Where washe going? Wasn’t he going back to his room?” She had a nagging feeling that he was different tonightcompared to his usual self.

She sat up and hesitantly glanced at the door between their two rooms.

All she had to do was push open that door to find out whether he had returned to his room to rest, but….

“Don’t be so curious! Curiosity can be deadly! Especially when it comes to a man like Jonathan, youshouldn’t have any curiosity at all!” She kept telling herself this in her mind, but her hand couldn’t resistpushing that door open.

There was darkness in front of her. She looked around the room through the faint light coming from herown room. As expected, no one was there.

“He’s not in the room. So, where could he be? Downstairs?” she wondered.

But when Rosalie reached downstairs, she didn’t find Jonathan there either.

And even she couldn’t explain why. After not finding him in the main house, she went outside.

The Youngblood residence was very large. Besitles the main house, there were rooms forhousekeepers, a garden, a pavilion, and a pond.

Despite having lived in the Youngblood residence for so long, she had never really explored it and hadno idea just how large it truly was

I was almost early in the morning, and as far as the eye could see, except for some scattered lightingalong the way, everything was pitch black.

The night breeze blew, sending a chill through the air. Rosalie instinctively pulled her collar tighter. Shecouldn’t help but ask herself, “Why am I looking for Jonathan? Am I afraid something might happen tohim? What could possibly happen to

him in the Youngblood Residence?”

In the end, she could only reassure herself that he had rushed to save her today, so she felt grateful. And now, all she wanted was to make sure he was safe.

Suddenly, a glimmer of light caught her attention.

She saw a small, separate house not far ahead. The house’s windows were glowing with light.

Only when Rosalie approached did she find the plaque in front of the house, which read: [MemorialHall.]

Rosalie was startled. She stepped forward and gently pushed open the door. What caught her eyeswas a spacious front hall. A photo frame with a black-and-white picture of a man was hung above thewall in front of the hall.

It was a very handsome man, radiating a deep intellectual allure, exuding gentleness at every glance. His appearance was somewhat similar to that of Jonathan, albeit with Jonathan possessing a morestriking look.novelbin

Perhaps it was because of the difference in eyes. This man’s eyes were more like Leonard’s, whichwas completely different from Jonathan’s peach blossom eyes.

In Rosalie’s heart, the answer became clear. This man was probably Jonathan’s father.

However, she hadn’t expected that his father would have such a gentle appearance.

Back then, she only roughly knew from Jonathan’s words that his mother left him and his father. At thattime, she didn’t feel much when hearing it. After all, she had seen this kind of thing too many times inthe law firm, and many case files contained such scenarios.

But now, when she saw this picture, it was as if a word in her mind had suddenly taken on a physicalform and visual presence, making it more real and close.

Rosalie wondered, “What kind of woman would leave a man who seemed so gentle? This man, he hadpassed away. Did that woman ever feel regret?”

“How did you get here?” A voice suddenly echoed in the quiet space. It startled Rosalie instantly.

She jerked her head around and saw Jonathan standing not far away, his deep eyes fixed on her.

“I-I’m looking for you,” she replied.

“Looking for me?” He raised his eyebrows slightly and approached her. “What’s the matter?”

She bit her lip. She was perfectly fine, just afraid that something might happen to him.

“Hm?” His gaze remained fixed on lier, waiting for her to respond.
