Chapter 177

Chapter 177novelbin

Rosalie pursed her lips. She did not know how to answer for a moment, so she opened the boxed mealand started eating with her head down.

Jonathan fixed his gaze on Rosalie. He had repeatedly tried to find ways to keep her by his side, but ithad slowly become an impossible task.

He did not want her to leave. All he could think about was what he needed to do to make her stay byhis side willingly.

There was a time when even eating lunch together became something Jonathan looked forward to.Being able to cat together with Rosalie, even in complete silence, brought him happiness.

Looking back at it now, perhaps the happiest time in his life was when he was just “Jon” At least backthen, she would talk and laugh with him, treat him as an ordinary person, affectionately help him dry hishair, and call him “Jon” repeatedly.

Jon… Jon…

Did Rosalie know how much Jonathan longed to hear her call him like that? He wanted her to call himJon as if she were calling a dearest family member of hers..

When Rosalie looked up after eating. her gaze met Jonathan’s.

He was looking at her, and the boxed meal in his hand was untouched. In other words, he stared at herthe whole time she

ate.

The thought of that possibility made Rosalie blush suddenly. Then she hurriedly rose to her feet andsaid. “I-I’ll take my

leave first.”

As she spoke, she bent down to tidy up the lunchbox on the coffee table.

Suddenly, Jonathan pressed his hand on the back of Rosalie’s hand. After that, he raised his chinslightly, and his gaze fixed on her. “Rosie, can you call me Jon?” he whispered, as if begging

Upon hearing what he said, Rosalie froze momentarily. She felt a sudden warmth in her throat. “Whyare you… All of a sudden..

“Call me Jon. I want to hear you call me Jon now,” he insisted.

She pursed her red lips but did not say anything as he wished.

Jonathan’s face inched closer to hers. “Can’t you even say it once?”

Rosalie could feel his breath at the tip of her nose. Seeing that his lips were about to touch hers, shequickly shouted, “Jon!”

His lips halted just inches from hers. Then he smiled faintly. “That sounds lovely.”

She could only feel her checks growing hotter.

As soon as Jonathan released Rais hand, she practically fled from the CEO’s Office.

In the office, Jonathan lowered his

and stared at the hand that had touched the back of her hand moments ago. It was as

if his palm had retained the warmth of her touch

After a while, he slowly clenched his hand as if trying to hold on to that warmth tightly.

After cleaning up the diner in the evening, Rosalie was about to leave when Amelia handed her a bookabout sign language. “This is a sign language book. You can read this if you really want to learn signlanguage.”

“Thank you,” Rosalie answered as she accepted the book.

“It’s me who should be thanking you.” Amelia added, “Aiden doesn’t interact much with outsiders.Besides, he can’t hear or speak, so others are even less inclined to communicate with him. You arewilling to learn sign language and communicate with him. This is something I’ve been hoping for.”

“Aiden is very adorable. And it seems like he likes me, too. I think that’s fate between us,” Rosalieanswered.

“Fate…” Amelia’s lips moved. However, in the end, she merely replied, “Yes. Maybe… It really is fate, isn’t it?”

“All right, Ms. Haab. I’ll take my leave then, Rosalie said.

“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow” After Rosalie left, Amelia closed the shop door and went to the smallroom behind the store. She looked at Aiden, who was already asleep on the bed, while Matilda gentlypatted him with one hand.

“Is he asleep?” Amelia asked softly. Although she knew Aiden could not hear her at all, she stillsubconsciously lowered her

voice.

“Yes, he just fell asleep. Is Rosalie really going to learn sign language?” Matilda responded.

Amella replied, “She looks like she’s serious. She even thanked me when I gave her the sign languagebook.”

“I didn’t expect her to be a decent girl. I can see she’s been treating Aiden well for the past few days.”Matilda sighed. During this period, her impression of Rosalie had changed a lot..

“I think there is something else behind why she was in prison.” Amelia sat down and continued, “Sheseems to be a cautious person. I overheard her talking on the phone with a friend before. They werediscussing something related to overturning her case. Maybe she was wrongfully accused, so she’strying to clear her name.”

“It seems she’s had her share of hardships, just like you.” Suddenly, Matilda’s face turned grim. “If itweren’t for your wrongful conviction, you wouldn’t have ended up in jail and…”

Amelia shook her head and said, “Mom, stop talking about it. Whatever it is, I’m content to be with youand Aiden now. Everything will get better once we save enough for Aiden’s cochlear implant”

Matilda hesitated momentarily before asking. “Do you really have no intention of finding him again?”

“Mom, I know that you think if I were to find him, maybe he’ll acknowledge that Aiden is his son, andthat would make our lives easier. But think about it. He was the one who sent me to jail when I waspregnant. Do you think he cares whether Aiden is his child or not?” Amelia calmly explained.

The past had been too painful and full of despair. All that remained at that moment was her calmdemeanor.

Hearing that, Matilda wiped a tear from her eye. “Im just worried you’ll be exhausted and you won’t beable to handle it on your own.”

“I won’t. I have you and Aiden. No matter what happens in the future, I will hold on. Don’t worry.” Asmile appeared on Amelia’s beautiful face. “Okay, you should get some sleep, too. I’ll tidy up a bit andprepare the ingredients for tomorrow.”

Matilda nodded and lay down beside Aiden.

Amelia turned around, but the smile on her face disappeared. Matilda thought better days might beahead if she returned to the man. However, what Amelia feared now was that the man’s retaliationmight not stop.

After being released from prison, she left the city with Matilda and Aiden. Then they came to Strico, allbecause she wanted to avoid that man.

Only by truly avoiding that man could her life start anew.

All Amelia wanted in this lifetime was never to see the man again.

Rosalie looked at the old man in front of her, who was lying on the bed. She did not expect Jonathan’sgrandfather, a man who once wielded immense power in Strico, would directly send someone tointercept her on the road and bring her to the hospital.
