Chapter 172

Chapter 172

Besides, Amelia was the female owner overseeing the cashier, dishes, and tables. It seemed that shehad to do everything. She had no spare time to relax when the business was booming.

Maybe she had limited ability, but she gave it everything she could.

At about three o’clock, the store received another order. Someone had ordered a bagel and bubble tea.

However, when Rosalie saw the venue of the delivery, she became slightly distracted.

“What’s the matter? Is there a problem?” When Amelia prepared the food for Rosalie, she found thelatter staring at the receipt for the delivery in a daze.

“It’s nothing,” Rosalie replied and took the bagel and bubble tea.

The delivery address was at the law firm she had worked for. If she took the delivery, she wouldnaturally meet her former colleagues.

She used to be so glorious at the office, but she would be so embarrassed when she made the deliverylater.

Rosalie felt slightly bitter, but now that she had chosen this industry, it was unavoidable for suchsituations to occur.

Furthermore, life was a lengthy journey, and inevitably, one would cross paths with familiar faces fromthe past. Just because she had experienced incarceration and faced hardships didn’t grant her theprivilege to avoid encounters with certain individuals.

She thought, ‘In fact, it would be good if I get used to it!” Then, she placed the delivery on her electricscouter and left.novelbin

Rosalie’s familiarity with the roads increased as she got closer to the company. She stopped herelectric scooter when she arrived at the business entrance and turned to face the modern structure.

When she first came to this building, she was so full of vim and vigor. She even thought she would setup her firm one day when she was experienced and independent enough in the future.

However, time had passed, and everything had changed.

Rosalie took the delivery and pressed the button to the familiar floor.

Rosalie called the number on the delivery receipt while she was standing in front of the glass doors. Ayoung woman walked out of the firm. She appeared to be a recent college graduate who had justjoined the company as a new hire.

She took the delivery and said, “Thank you.”

At this moment, the receptionist recognized Rosalie and suddenly uttered, ‘Well, aren’t you Rosalie? What are you doing here?” She looked at the delivery in her colleague’s hands and continued withsome surprise, “Are you delivering food?”

“Yes,” Rosalie answered.

The colleague, who ordered the delivery, asked the receptionist, ‘Do you guys know each other?”

“That’s right. She used to work here, and she’s famous for…” The receptionist stopped talking andlooked at Rosalie. Her surprise gradually changed to sympathy

Rosalie smiled and turned to leave. When she walked into the elevator, she saw the receptionist stillchatting with her colleague. They must be chatting about her.

Rosalie was only glad that she didn’t see too many former colleagues today, which made her feel lessembarrassed.

When Rosalie returned to the Youngblood residence after a day’s work, it was already past ten.

Rosalie wanted to go straight back to her room, but thinking of what Jonathan had said before, sheknocked on the door when passing by.

Since he asked her to wish him a good night before she slept, she would do it.

After a moment, the door of the room opened. Jonathan stood by the door and looked at Rosalie.“You’re back.”

“Well, good night, she uttered. After saying that, she turned around as she wanted to go back to herroom.

However, the next moment, Jonathan grabbed her hand. Then, she fell into his broad embrace.

She subconsciously wanted to struggle out of his arms, but he applied strength and hugged her tighter.

His lips approached her ear, and he said in a low voice, “Your greeting sounds so perfunctory!”

Her body trembled slightly, and she could feel his breath on her ears. She felt as though she wasenveloped in his breath

“You! Let go of me,” she uttered, her face flushed.

“Then why don’t you tell me how was the first day of your new job?” he asked.

“It’s like a normal delivery. Someone ordered, and I delivered it.” She felt her heartbeat acceleratingand her blood pumping quickly throughout her body.

“Really? Have you had a good meal today?” His voice rang near her ear again.

“Yes, I ate with the female owner. The shop provides two meals there.” Her face was hot, as if it weregoing to burn. This strange feeling made her panic. At this moment, she just wanted him to loosen hisarms quickly.

However, he wasn’t going to do what she wished. He even turned her head to face him.

“Are you nervous?” he suddenly asked.

“N-No.” She denied it.

“But your face is so red.” He smiled gently, bent down, and placed his lips on her cheek. “Are youblushing because of me?”

Her body stiffened, and she stammered, “I-I’m not,”

“You’re lying.” he scolded softly, but his voice sounded doting.

While she bit her lip and made an effort to push him away, her hand against his chest appearedhelpless.

Was it because she was scared? She was afraid the consequences would be beyond her ability to bearafter pushing him away. Or could there be another reason?

For a moment, Rosalie couldn’t figure out why. She just felt her mind was in chaos.

After a long time, he let go of her hand and gently touched her lips. Then, he smiled and said, “Well, good night.”

Rosalie literally fled the scene.

After returning to her room, she cupped her checks and felt flushed. She couldn’t tell whether her faceor hands were hotter.

What was wrong with her? He used to hug her like this, but her physical reaction was completelydifferent from before.

If she was afraid and trembled from his hugs initially because she found out his real identity after shetreated him like a family member, then what was the reason for her nervousness now?

Was it possible that she had fallen in love with him and had feelings for him?

No! No way!

She shook her head hard and told herself not to think about it. She and Jonathan wouldn’t have a goodending if they ended up together.

A man like Jonathan, who was so unpredictable, made it impossible to decipher what was really goingon in his mind. Even though he might appear infatuated with her now, how long would it last?
