Chapter 161

Chapter 161

At the recollection of that night, Lillian was guilt-ridden again. She blamed herself for being tooexhilarated that day and failing to gauge her alcohol tolerance, assuming it’d be fine to drink more fruitwine. As one would expect, people always did the wrong things while intoxicated.

However, when she woke up, she still remembered what happened after she got drunk, such as howshe pinned him on the bed and forced herself upon him, not to mention the bunch of sweet nothingsshe said to him.

When Lillian recalled those sweet nothings after the fact, she couldn’t help but find them so similar tothose in TV shows said by men to women! A few phrases, in particular, were pretty much copied fromthe TV show she had been binging on.

That was why watching too many romantic shows was not a good idea. When one got drunk, the sweetnothings would come rolling off the tongue as though one had memorized a book of them.

In the end, it turned out that she actually succeeded. She successfully devoured a stunning man whomshe believed could only be admired and not messed with!

At times, when Lillian recalled these, she also wondered whether her success was attributed to thosesweet nothings.

She considered perhaps it was because he had stayed abroad for so long and hadn’t really beenbombarded by the sweet nothings that she somehow succeeded.

The following morning, after waking up, she had been dumbfounded by the scene in front of her.Coincidentally, she happened to receive a call from Rosalie, so she hurriedly checked out of her roomand flew back home.

In her heart, she purely viewed that night as a romantic one-night stand and believed she would neversee him in her life again.

Never in her wildest dream did she imagine they would meet again under such circumstances.

“I did leave a note, Lillian said a little embarrassedly. In fact, she didn’t actually leave without a word.

Her words only served to make the ridicule in his eyes more apparent. “Yeah, you left a note that saidyou were sorry you had to leave in advance. What a meaningful note, huh?”

She couldn’t help but cower, knowing she had done wrong. “Fine. do you want?”

you were the disadvantaged one, then! What

With a scowl, he stared intently at her and finally said sometime later, “Have you ever looked for me allthese years?”

She bit her lip lightly and didn’t say anything, but her expression had already told him the answer.Indeed, she never once looked for him!

Suddenly, he chuckled coldly. “Nice one, Lillian Quinn. I truly gotta hand it to you!”

All these years, she hadn’t been looking for him, but he had practically revisited all the places theyonce journeyed together. in an effort to find her. He even scoured every spot at Mushane Universityand combed through the surveillance footage of that city, going to wherever she could possibly be.

This chuckle made Lillian’s heart feel fairly uncomfortable as if she was pinched by something.

At this moment, Callum’s phone abruptly rang.

Callum picked up the phone and listened for a while before his expression moderately changed. Then, his gaze toward Lillian grew more inquisitive.

“Bring them in,” said Callum. He put away the phone after ending the call.

Lillian intuitively felt that the phone call was related to her. “What is it?”

Jonathan Youngblood is here for you,” Callum answered while observing Lillian’s expression. “To thinkthat he would come here specially to look for you. What? Do you know him very well?”

There was a brief pause before Lillian replied, “No.” Nonetheless, she could guess Jonathan probablycame to look for her due to Rosalie.

“If you don’t, why would he especially come to look for you this late at night?” Callum asked coldly.“Which woman in Strico could possibly deserve this treatment from him? Is it because of him that youdidn’t look for me all these years?”

His voice carried an imperceptible trace of jealousy.

Lillian was speechless as she thought, “Oh, please! That will also require Jonathan to like me in thefirst place. The one he’s interested in is Rosalie, not mel”

“It has nothing to do with him. I simply didn’t think to look for you,” Lillian responded. After she returnedhome, too many things had happened, so she naturally didn’t have time to think about anything else.

What was more, she purely regarded their connection as a holiday fling and their night as an accident, and she had planned to take this secret to her grave. Even her parents and Rosalie never knew aboutit.novelbin

His expression became visibly angrier as he pursed his thin lips and glared daggers at her, but in theend, he only said, “You really have the ability to piss people off.”

Callum had been good at controlling his emotions since childhood. Because he was an illegitimatechild, he always knew how to hold back and conceal his feelings until he was confident enough.

Lillian, however, was the only one who seemed to be capable of affecting his emotions easily. In frontof her, he seemed to be able to completely release his feelings without any burden.

The days he spent with her were both sweet and painful for him. In the past three years, he wouldalways think of those few days in his spare time.

The happier he was in those days, the more painful it was for him when she left without a word.

Right then, someone knocked on the door of the room, and Callum recollected himself. “Come in.”

Someone pushed the door and entered. It was a security guard from outside, followed by Jonathan andRosalie.

The moment Lillian saw her friend, her eyes lit up. “Rosalie.” She didn’t expect her best friend to locatethis place. Rosalie immediately ran to Lillian and asked nervously, “Are you okay? Did you get hurt? What exactly happened?” “I’m okay. Everything’s fine!” Lillian answered in a hurry.

At last, Rosalie was relieved, and she couldn’t help but query, “Why would you get… uh, taken here bythis man? Do you know him?”

Lillian smiled awkwardly. “Well… It’s a long story.” In a flash, she seemed to recall something andasked flusteredly, “By the way. did you tell my parents about me being taken away?”

“Not yet, but… I called the cops, Rosalie replied.

“Damn. I’m doomed. They will likely call my parents, right?” Lillian groaned and wanted to leave in apanic.

After all, if she went back now, she’d likely have to face her parents’ complaints and tears.

again.

However, a hand suddenly blocked her way. “When did I say you could go?”

While Lillian was stunned, Rosalie stepped forward and stood before her best friend protectively. “Youhave no right to detain others, and I’ve already called the cops regarding this. If you don’t wish to getinto trouble, you’d best let Lillian leave.”
