Chapter 149

Chapter 149

He was a strikingly handsome man, between the ages of a teen and an adult, with a gender-neutralface that consider attractive in the modern era.

many would

His exquisite features were as if he had come to life from a painting. However, the man’s thin lips werepressed tightly together, and his beautiful black eyes seemed to be filled with rage at the time.

“Is he angry? Based on his current point of view, it appears that whatever is bothering him is comingfrom our direction,” Rosalie speculated silently.

“Rosalie. I’m talking to you. Are you listening?” Lillian’s voice brought her back to reality.

“What did you say just now? Rosalie turned to face Lillian

“Did the doctor mention when your hand will be completely healed?” Lillian inquired.

“About a week, and then it is just a matter of waiting for the skin to heal, Rosalie replied. Then, hergaze shifted briefly in the direction of the unfamiliar man earlier, but there was no sign of the car or theman.

“What are you looking at? Is there something happening on the street?” Lillian followed Rosalie’s gaze.

“It’s nothing.” Rosalie smiled. Perhaps she had been overly suspicious earlier. Just because the manappeared angry and looked in their direction did not mean he was looking at them

“By the way, are you living together with Jonathan now? What’s going on?” Lillian asked. She had beencurious about that since the night before, when she had called Rosalie and Jonathan had answered the

phone.

“W-We’re kind of living together, I guess,” Rosalie replied.novelbin

“So, you two are cohabiting?’ Lillian continued to ask.

Those words almost caused Rosalie to spill her beverage.

“N-Not really. I’m just staying there for a while. Once my hand fully heals, I should be able to move out,Rosalie quickly explained.

“Are you sure? Are you staying with Jonathan because you’ve been forced to?” Lillian furrowed herbrows.

When Lillian thought about it, it made sense to her. Rosalie had been through a lot in prison, much of itbrought on by Jonathan. He later deceived her as well.

Rosalie despised being deceived above all else, and Jonathan had almost certainly caused herpsychological trauma.

Rosalie smiled, pretending to be cheerful. “I am not exactly being forced. At the very least, he providesme with good food. and lodging. Furthermore, my hand is currently injured, so staying at his house isconvenient. He also provided me with a separate room.”

“But…” Lillian was still worried

Rosalie quickly changed the subject, ‘All right, let’s talk about something else. Weren’t you justcomplaining about your mom setting up blind dates for you? Have you met anyone that suits yourtaste?”

“Do not bring it up again. I was actually considering ways to get away from it. My mother acts as if I willnever marry, despite the fact that 1 am only 27 years old. She told me that she had gone fortune-tellingand that they predicted I would marry next year, so I needed to find a good match this year. In fact, I amthinking about bulldozing that place, Lillian said indignantly

“Have you never been interested in anyone in all these years? Rosalie asked. They had known eachother for a long time, and she had never seen Lillian dating anyone. Lillian appeared to have nointerests outside of admiring celebrities.

“Well…” When it came to that subject, Lillian felt a little uneasy and touched her nose.

Rosalie immediately noticed that Lillian’s reaction was odd. She looked at Lillian and asked curiously,“So, does that mean you have someone you’re interested in?”

“I guess. I had a crush on him back then, but he was too young for me. I felt like I was robbing a cradlewhen I was with him. Despite the fact that it was only a brief encounter, it was quite pleasant. Lillianchuckled.

Rosalie was speechless when she heard Lillian say she was robbing a cradle. After all, Lillian was only27 years old. “Is that person very young?” she asked.

Lillian shrugged and replied, “Yes. We met abroad, and then… Never mind. I am sure he has forgottenwhat I look like by

THEMY!”

After all, she reasoned, with him being so attractive, there had to be a lot of girls interested in him, sothere was no way he would remember someone like her, who only spent a few days together with him.

“I guess having that once-in-a-lifetime experience was enough, Lillian remarked inwardly.

Meanwhile, Rosalie’s expression subtly changed when she heard Lillian mention “abroad. Sheremembered that Lillian had only been abroad once, and that was before her car accident. Lillianintended to apply to schools abroad to further her education, so she traveled abroad for an interviewwith the school to which she intended to apply.

However, due to Rosalie’s car accident, Lillian was unable to attend the interview and was forced toreturn to the country immediately.

Rosalie felt that it was entirely her fault that Lillian was denied the opportunity to further her education. It would not be an exaggeration to say that she had changed Lillian’s destiny.

It was no surprise that Lillian’s parents were still bitter about it to this day. Even Rosalie felt a weight onher chest whenever she thought about it.

When Lillian noticed Rosalie’s expression change, she knew Rosalie was thinking about how she hadfailed to further her studies abroad and was feeling guilty about it. Don’t overthink it. My decision not togo abroad at the time had nothing to do with you. My grades were only average. Even if I had gone tothe interview, I doubt the school would have accepted me,” she quickly said.

“Lillian, thank you. One day, if you need my help. I’ll be there for you no matter what, Rosalie saidearnestly.

“You silly. Why are you saying such cheesy things? It is preferable to properly thank me when yourcase is overturned in the future!” Lillian patted Rosalie’s shoulder.

“All right” Rosalie smiled. However, deep down, she still had concerns. Despite her determination toclear her name, she could not help but wonder if she could actually overturn the case.

“Can we still figure out who the mastermind is, if there really is one? After all, three years have passed, she mused.

When Rosalie returned to the Youngblood residence in the evening, Jonathan was sitting in the livingroom, holding something, lost in thought.

As Rosalie approached, she noticed he was holding the photo he had asked her to give him earlier thatday.

Jonathan put away the photo and smiled at her when he noticed she was back. “You’re back. How didyour meeting with your friend go?

“It went all right, she replied.

“Did

your friend give you any useful information about your case?” he asked casually.

“It should be helpful, but I don’t understand why that witness from back then lied. I’m afraid that if I tryto contact him directly, he’ll avoid me. So, I plan to gather more information about him before decidingon the next step,” Rosalie explained.

Then, sensing something amiss, she turned to Jonathan and asked, “Do you actually believe that I wasnot the one responsible for the car accident that killed your fiancée back then?”
