Chapter 1240

Chapter 1240

Rosalie pondered for a moment and then said, “Nicholas was buried in the private cemetery of the

Griffin family. If you want to visit his grave, you will need permission from the Griffin family. But you also

know that judging by their attitude toward you now, they probably won’t agree. When your consultation

with the specialists proves that you are not mentally ill, we will find a way for you to pay respects tonovelbin

Nicholas.”

Riley opened her eyes, but the glint of hope in her eyes had dimmed.

She knew that the Griffin family would never allow her to enter the cemetery, but she had to visit

Nicholas’s grave as she owed him too much.

After Rosalie left, Riley secretly made up her mind.

Late at night, Riley quietly got up, avoided the security guards, and slipped out of the hospital. Then,

she took a taxi to the Griffin family’s private cemetery.

Earlier, she had asked Rosalie for a phone, saying she wanted to catch up with today’s society and

read the news. Rosalie then transferred some money to her phone account so that she could buy

whatever she wanted online.

And so, she paid the taxi fare with that money. On the way to the cemetery, she also asked the driver to

drop by a small shop where she bought flowers.

The cemetery in the middle of the night was dark and scary, but for Riley, that was where she wanted

to go most.

Although the Griffin family had arranged for security personnel to guard the cemetery, few people

would come to such a place, especially in the middle of the night.

Riley carefully avoided the security guards and slipped into the cemetery.

She didn’t know where Nicholas was buried, so she could only search for the tombstone one by one.

She looked at every tombstone anxiously, hoping to find Nicholas’s before she was discovered.

Suddenly, her footsteps stopped, and her eyes fell on a tombstone under the moonlight.

The name on the tombstone, “Nicholas Griffin,” came into her sight. Her tears instantly flowed out of

her eyes and rolled down her cheeks.

Then, she tremblingly threw herself at the tombstone, and with a thud, she knelt on the ground.

Her knees hit the ground, but she didn’t feel any pain. She stroked the name on the tombstone with

both her hands and cried harder.

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry… I’m sorry, Nicholas.” The hoarse voice choked with sobs. Her maimed right

hand stroked the name on the tombstone again. and again, as if she were caressing the man who had

protected her with his life.

She wondered if he would blame her for only visiting him after so many

years.

She cried, but she was worried that crying loudly would attract the attention of the guards. She hadn’t

even paid her respects yet.

Riley tried to suppress her voice while she kept sobbing. After a while, she took a deep breath, quietly

lit the candles she had bought, then knelt before Nicholas’s tombstone and kowtowed.

“Nicholas, I won’t let you die in vain. I will… live well in this world and won’t waste the life you

exchanged for me. I still have a lot of things to do. Watch me find the culprit one day!” Riley murmured,

“Bless me, okay? Let me find the culprit who caused your death!”

The silent night and the rustling wind seemed to be responding to her.

Meanwhile, Rosalie received a call from the hospital, informing her that Riley had sneaked out of the

hospital. From the surveillance camera in the hospital, Riley was found to have left by herself in a taxi.

Rosalie was taken aback. “Did she leave the hospital alone?”

“Yes, she deliberately avoided the security guards. We don’t know where she is now,” the other party

said.

“Okay, I’ll go find her,” Rosalie said.

After ending the call, she tried to call Riley, but the latter’s phone was turned off.

“What’s wrong?” Jonathan asked.

“Riley left the hospital. I don’t know where she went,” Rosalie said

“Could she have returned to the Summer residence by herself or gone to find Zephyr?” Jonathan

guessed.

“I don’t think so. Returning to the Summer residence will be like entering the lion’s den for her. As for

Zephyr, she probably only has hatred for him and won’t take the initiative to see him,” Rosalie

analyzed.

“How about I send someone to get the road surveillance footage and find out where Riley went?”

Jonathan suggested.

“That will take a long time. Oh yeah, you can check the license plate of the taxi she took and ask the

driver where he sent her,” Rosalie said.

Jonathan then called his subordinates and gave them the instructions.

About 15 minutes later, Jonathan’s subordinates called back and said that, according to the driver, the

passenger had gotten off at Southern Hill Road near Chandler Road.

The driver had been worried that it would be unsafe for a woman to come to such a remote place alone

at midnight. He had reminded her that there was a cemetery not far away, but she didn’t seem afraid at

all and just said lightly, “I know.”

When Rosalie heard such a reply, her eyes lit up suddenly. “Oh yeah, it’s the cemetery of the Griffin

family! Not far from there is the Griffin family’s cemetery. Riley must have gone there!”

After all, Riley had said she wanted to pay respects to Nicholas during t day.

“Could it be that she couldn’t wait any longer, so she went there secretly?” Rosalie thought.

Thinking of that, Rosalie said to Jonathan, “I’ll go find Riley in the cemetery!”

Jonathan grabbed Rosalie and said, “Do you think I will let you go out to look for her by yourself late at

night? I’ll go with you.”

When the two of them arrived at the Griffin family’s cemetery, they found that the lights in the cemetery

were on, and the security guards at the entrance were also on standby.

Upon seeing that, Rosalie immediately felt uneasy. She walked forward quickly and asked the security

guard, “Did something happen inside?”

“This is the private cemetery of the Griffin family. You two stop here. As for what happened, I’m afraid I

can’t tell you anything,” the security guard replied coldly.

“I know Bruce. Please inform him and let us in!” Rosalie said.

The security guard looked at her suspiciously, obviously not intending to report it.

“If Bruce finds that you didn’t report to him, you might be held accountable,” Rosalie said.
