Chapter 1205

Chapter 1205

Two days later, Warren went to Scott Group’s office building with Amelia.

When Amelia saw Zephyr, a sense of bitterness pervaded her. She recalled the time back when Riley

said to her smilingly, “If we get to meet again next time, I will bring you to meet the person I love. He

always told me that he fell in love with me at first sight. He pursued me for a long time and said it was

too difficult to win me over. Unbeknownst to him, I also fell in love with him at first sight!”

“Then, why did you have him pursue you for such a long time?” she asked in puzzlement back then.

Riley replied, “Probably because I was afraid of getting hurt. As I told you, my parents didn’t have a

happy marriage. My father only married my mother for her family’s influence. I don’t want to follow in

their footsteps.”

“Now that you’re together with your boyfriend, you must trust him a lot, huh?”

“Yeah. He is different from my father, and I believe that he really loves me.”

Riley’s voice seemingly echoed in her ears. Yet, that person she trusted married another woman

immediately after she was sent to the psychiatric hospital.

And right then, she was meeting the person Riley loved in such a situation.

“Mr. Scott, this is my wife, Amelia Haab,” Warren said in introduction.

“Nice to meet you, Mrs. York.” Zephyr extended a hand to Amelia to shake hands as a courtesy.

However, Amelia merely stared at Zephyr in a daze and didn’t extend her hand even after a long time

had passed. He frowned slightly and said with a half-smile, “What is the matter, Mrs. York? Is my

appearance strange?”

“Amelia!” Warren prompted.

Jolted out of her thoughts, Amelia finally extended her hand and shook Zephyr’s. Then, she murmured,

“Sorry, I was a little distracted just now.

Your appearance is naturally not strange, Mr. Scott. In fact, you’re very much handsome. You must

have many women falling in love with you, right?”

“You flatter me, Mrs. York.” Zephyr smiled, then invited them to take a seat.

The conversation between Warren and Zephyr was all about business. Amelia had no interest in

listening to it. She only looked at Zephyr intently, seemingly wanting to know the kind of man Riley

loved from his expression, attitude, and speech.

Her scrutiny was overly intense to the point that Zephyr found it strange. The company’s senior

executives alternated their gazes between Zephyr, Warren, and Amelia, their eyes betraying different

thoughts.

When the business talk ended, Zephyr was about to invite them to lunch when Warren spoke ahead of

him. “There’s something else I’d speak with you alone, Mr. Scott.”

Hearing that, Zephyr had the senior executives leave first. “What other business do you have with have

with me, Mr. York?”

“Accurately speaking, my wife is the one who has some questions for you, Mr. Scott. She has a friend

she has been looking for years on end, and she recently learned that her friend was once your

fiancée,” Warren said.

No sooner had his words rang out than Zephyr’s expression abruptly changed.

Speaking of his fiancée in this world, there was only one person, and was none other than Riley.

Even his current wife, Harriet, was never his fiancée back then because they decided to get married

directly, even skipping an engagement.

In an instant, Zephyr understood why Amelia stared at him so intently just now.

“It seems that you came here today not only for business, Mr. York and Mrs. York,” Zephyr said coldly.

“I don’t want to mention the past. My wife now is Harriet.”

“You’re wrong in saying that, Mr. Scott. Even if your wife now is Harriet, Riley is still your sister-in-law,

no?” Warren countered.

Zephyr’s gaze grew even colder.

“If you’re here to make trouble, Mr. York, I’m sorry to say I won’t be accompanying you on that count!”

After saying that, he got up to leave.

“Do you really think Riley is mentally unstable?” Amelia abruptly asked.

Zephyr’s expression changed slightly. “Would the doctor’s diagnosis go wrong? She is mentally

unstable!”

“Could the doctor’s diagnosis never be wrong? Or do you want her to be mentally unstable?” Amelia

pressed.

Zephyr stared at Amelia, a faint flash of hostility gleaming in his eyes. “What exactly are you trying to

say?”

“Did you ever love Riley for real? If you did, why have you been indifferent to her when she has been in

the psychiatric hospital for so many years, never even visiting her once and allowing others to torturenovelbin

her in there, so much so that even the ring finger on her right hand is gone?”

As Amelia spoke, she observed Zephyr’s expression.

A trace of surprise flashed across Zephyr’s eyes. “What did you just say? The ring finger on her right

hand… is gone?”

“Why, didn’t you know that? Even I, who has just found her, know that her right hand is missing a finger.

You used to be her fiancé and now her brother-in-law, yet you didn’t?” Amelia said sarcastically.

Zephyr pursed his thin lips tightly. It took him a while to put the sho away. He looked at Amelia coldly. “It

seems you’ve done your hom before coming over, Mrs. York. But Riley’s matter is only the busine the

Summer family. It has nothing to do with you. So what if you we once her friend? She’s nothing more

than a lunatic now!”

A stab of pain shot through Amelia. “I wonder how Riley would feel if she were to hear the person she

once loved describing her as a “lunatic” now,” she thought.

Aloud, Amelia scoffed, “Riley really shouldn’t have loved you. Unfortunately, she didn’t see your true

colors back then.”

Zephyr’s expression suddenly in a flash. He suddenly reached out to push Amelia. “Shut up! What do

you know?”

But before his hand could make contact with Amelia, Warren stopped him. “No matter what my wife

said, Mr. Scott, she is pregnant now. It’s inappropriate for you to act in such a manner, no?”

Zephyr glared at Warren with eyes blazing scarlet before glancing at Amelia. Only then did he

seemingly regain a shred of reason. “If you want your wife to be safe and sound in ‘Lommore, Mr. York,

tell her not to say such a thing in front of me! She doesn’t know anything at all!”

After saying that, Zephyr left the conference room without a backward glance.

Warren turned and fixed his eyes on Amelia. “Do you know how dangerous it was just now? What if he

really lost control after you said such provocative words and pushed or hit you?”

“But didn’t you protect me?” Amelia countered.

That rendered Warren speechless. After a while, he said, “What if I didn’t stop him just now?”
