Chapter 1085

“Why in the world did I even go through all that trouble just to rouse her hatred?” cursed Warren tohimself.

“Warren York, after so many years, why are you still so dumb?” he murmured under his breath.

A long time later, he finally started the car but drove aimlessly on Strico’s roads until night fell and themoon shone brightly in the sky. Only then did he realize he had driven to the front of the concessionstand again.

The shutters of the concession stand had already been closed, and only the light pouring out from thewindow indicated that the people inside were still awake.

Warren got out of the car but didn’t go to the concession stand. Instead, he leaned against the car doorand just stood in silence.

When Amelia was about to go to bed and went to pull the curtains, she inadvertently caught sight ofWarren standing outside the window by his car and couldn’t help but freeze.

Still, a moment later, she shut the curtains and ignored the person outside.

“It’d be best if we meet less in the future!” she pondered.

Amelia turned around, picked up the bruise ointment in the first aid box, and told Aiden to take off hisclothes so that she could apply it to him.

Aiden’s petite frame had several bruises caused by his recent training.

These bruises were much more than when he practiced boxing before.

Every time she saw the bruises on her son, she couldn’t resist persuading him to forget it and switchback to boxing. After all, it would also strengthen his physique.

Yet, Aiden insisted on training in his current skill, even if it meant having more injuries.

“Mommy, the teacher said that my movements are much more flexible than before. Once I becomestronger in the future, I will be able to protect you and my sister!” he informed.

Amelia instinctively smiled. “How do you know that I’m pregnant with a girl? What if it’s a boy?”

“If it’s a boy, I will also protect him, but I will teach him combat arts and train him to be strong as well,”the boy replied, then looked at her belly seriously. “But I still think that you’re pregnant with a girl.”

Amelia chuckled, but she had to admit that she, indeed, once hoped to have a son and a daughter.novelbin

“By the way, Mommy, when can I see Lillian and her baby?” Ever since Aiden learned that Lillian hadgiven birth to a baby, he had always wanted to see the child.

However, as Lillian was in a coma in the hospital previously, Amelia didn’t tell Aiden about it and simplysaid that Lillian and the newborn needed space to rest now and that it was not convenient for too manypeople to visit them in the hospital. She told him they could only go after some time.

“Hmm, I’ll take you to see her and the baby in a few days. She will certainly be elated to see you,”Amelia said.

“Okay! I will also protect Yasmin and treat her like a little sister!”

After applying the medicine to her son, she helped him put on his pajamas and covered him with a quiltbefore lying down as well.

In the middle of the night, Amelia, who was initially asleep, suddenly had a layer of cold sweat coveringher forehead. Her brows were tightly knitted as she mumbled something. Gradually, her head shookfrom side to side as if she wanted to break free from something.

“Aaah!” All of a sudden, she opened her eyes and sat up in a panic, only to realize that she was merelyhaving a nightmare just now.

In her dream, the experience of being taken to the operating room by Warren today was repeatedagain, but in it, he did not stop the operation and instead insisted on proceeding with it. The anestheticneedle then penetrated into her body. She wanted to struggle and escape, but she couldn’t move herbody at all.

“Luckily… it’s just a dream!” she thought.

Amelia took a deep breath and took a gander at her son, who was sleeping next to her. Aiden was stillfast asleep, apparently not awakened by her.

She got up and went to the kitchen to pour a glass of water but ended up seeing Warren leaningagainst the car outside the window a second time.

His posture was the same as she had seen earlier.

However, it had already been several hours since then!

Amelia gripped the glass in her hand. A long while later, she finally put it down and walked toward thedoor.

As soon as she opened the door, Warren seemed to hear the noise in that direction and immediatelyraised his head to look toward it. The next second, her figure came into his view.

Inexplicably, Warren’s eyes turned damp.

He supposed that even if she saw him standing outside, she would not take a second look at him. Tohis shock, she actually came to see him.

Amelia walked toward Warren step by step but halted when she was three steps away from him.

Warren subconsciously took a step forward, yet she took a step back in response.

“Don’t move. Just maintain this distance!” she said.

Warren’s eyes flickered with gloom. With that, he stayed still and answered, “All right, I won’t move!”

“What are you standing here in the middle of the night for?”

“I… I didn’t know where to go and reflexively came here,” Warren murmured. “I stood here and thoughta lot. Maybe you’re right. All along, I only considered my own feelings and never yours. I decidedeverything domineeringly without thinking about how much this decision would hurt you.”

He looked at her with eyes full of pleading. “Amelia, will you please forgive me? I know how ridiculous itis for me to beg for your forgiveness now, but I really just… I just love you so much that I don’t want tolose you!”

The mere thought of that made him tremble in extreme fear.

Amelia bit her lip and only answered after a long time, “Warren, I reckon we are truly incompatible. It’sthe same then and now. Since you didn’t really let the operation go on today, I can forgive you as youasked, but I hope that from now on, we will stop getting involved with each other like this. Unlessnecessary, I don’t want… to see you again.”

Warren felt his heart hurting terribly, as if it had been hammered on. “Do you really hate me so muchthat you don’t even want to see—” He subconsciously wanted to approach her again.

Sadly, the moment he did so, she stepped back. “Don’t come over, Warren. I genuinely don’t want tosee you. Did you know? Just now, I had a nightmare again. I dreamed about what happened today, how I was forcefully held down on the operating table to go through an operation against my will. Thatkind of fear is something you will never understand because you weren’t in my shoes!”

His face was ashen as he saw the distance between them.

They were only three steps away from each other, but these three steps were like a moat that he couldnever cross in this lifetime.
