Chapter 1078

Everyone was taken aback, astonished by the young boy’s words.

He continued mumbling, “If the only way for me to be with Yasmin in the future is to marry her, then I’llmarry her when she grows up. Besides me, she can’t marry anyone else! If you agree, then I will saveher mommy!”

“Are you really going to save her?” Rufus interjected in surprise.

The young boy paid no heed to Rufus and simply looked at Callum. “Do you agree?”

Callum’s heart was in turmoil at this moment.

He wondered whether agreeing would entail his daughter marrying this boy in the future. He realizedhe knew very little about the boy, and consenting would essentially bind his daughter’s entire lifethrough this agreement.

“What if Yasmin doesn’t have feelings for the boy in the future or if she likes someone else, then I…”Callum thought.

However, the child in front of him was his last hope to rescue Lillian from a life of being bedridden, forever trapped in a vegetative state.

“All right! If you can truly save Lillian, then when Yasmin grows up, I will let her marry you!” Callumpromised.

The young boy nodded. “Then lead the way!”

The group quickly escorted the young boy to Lillian’s ward.

The young boy gazed at Lillian lying in the hospital bed, pale and connected to various medicaldevices, resembling a living corpse.

“Remove all those devices!” the young boy ordered.

The group exchanged glances, and finally, Callum summoned a nurse who removed all the monitoringdevices from Lillian’s body.

The young boy then gestured to Rufus, his palm facing upward.

Rufus understood and retrieved a clean bowl, then took out a dagger. He said to the young boy,“Please bear with it for a moment.”

“I know!” the young boy replied impatiently,

The dagger cut across the boy’s forearm, carefully avoiding any vital veins, and blood welled up,dripping into the bowl. After filling about half of it,

Rufus promptly stopped the bleeding and bandaged the boy’s arm.

“This blood, feed it to her. It should help,” the young boy said, then dropped a shocking revelation. “Shewent through a difficult labor because someone injected a specific toxin into her body, which made herweak and led to a difficult birth. However, this toxin metabolizes quickly, making it hard to detect inblood tests.

“What?” Callum was utterly astonished, never expecting that his wife’s difficult labor had such a cause.

“Injected toxins? Who did it? Was it a hospital doctor or nurse? Or someone taking care of Lillian?”Callum pondered, his mind racing with countless speculations.

The young boy’s face turned pale, and he seemed quite drained at the moment.

Rufus quickly carried him, ready to leave.

However, before they departed, Rufus warned Callum, “Don’t forget your promise today. If you go backon it, the entire Woolbright family will have a vendetta with the White family!”

After they left, the people in the ward seemed to awaken from a daze. Callum looked at the half-filledbowl of blood in his hand and began carefully feeding it to Lillian.

No matter who was behind harming Lillian, Callum was determined to uncover the truth.

Back then, it was his lack of caution that had led to Lillian’s severe injury, landing her in the ICU wardand forcing him to back down to the Tall family. And now, he had been careless once again.

He believed he had prepared thoroughly, but there were still loopholes, and someone had exploitedthem. These small oversights were enough to endanger Lillian’s life.

Little by little, Lillian drank the blood.

Initially, Callum thought that feeding her this blood would be a time-consuming process, but in reality, itwas done quite quickly. Toward the end, Lillian appeared to be instinctively drawn to the blood. Even inher unconscious state, she swallowed it willingly.

After Lillian finished drinking the blood, Callum carefully wiped the corners of her lips and looked at herwith hope.

Rosalie and Amelia, however, watched with bated breath, anxious that the blood might not have thedesired effect.

Even though the young boy was their last hope, they weren’t sure if this blood alone could save Lillian. No one could be certain until they saw her wake up.

Fortunately, after about ten minutes, Lillian’s eyelashes trembled slightly. Then, under everyone’s gaze, she slowly opened her eyes.

Callum’s face lit up with joy. “Lillian, you’ve woken up? You’re awake!”

Lillian still appeared a bit groggy as she gazed at the disheveled Callum. After a while, her voiceemerged dryly. “How is it that I’ve just… given birth to a child, and you’ve become so ugly… Where’sthe baby? How’s the… baby?”

“The baby is fine; she’s doing very well… very well!” Callum almost stumbled over his words, whileJonathan had already summoned doctors and nurses to examine Lillian.

By the time everything was done, it was nearly the middle of the night.

The doctor’s preliminary examination of Lillian indicated that she was currently in good condition.

However, after being awake for about half an hour, Lillian fell asleep again, which left Callum quiteanxious, fearing she wouldn’t wake up.

“It probably won’t be, that boy seems confident that this blood can bring Lillian back and save her. Itshouldn’t just have such a short-lived effect. Lillian has just woken up and is probably a bit tired; sheshould wake up again after some rest,” Rosalie reassured Callum.

Despite her reassurance, Callum remained nervously stationed by Lillian’s hospital bed.

“Thank you for today; you guys should go back now. I’ll stay with Lillian,” Callum said.

“You should get some sleep too. You haven’t had a proper night’s sleep for several days,” Rosalie said. She was aware that, according to what Stephen and Abigail had told her, Callum frequently dozed forhalf an hour or an hour by Lillian’s bedside.novelbin

With so little sleep every day, even the healthiest body would struggle to cope.

“You should rest a bit too,” Rosalie advised.

However, Callum appeared as though he hadn’t heard her at all. Rosalie knew that further attempts topersuade him would be futile.

The group left the hospital, with Rosalie and Jonathan on one side, and Amelia and Warren on theother.

On their way, Rosalie asked Jonathan, “Do you know about the Woolbright family?”

“Yes, I do. Grandfather spoke of them while he was alive,” Jonathan replied. “They’re a reclusive familywith considerable strength.

Otherwise, Grandfather wouldn’t have warned against provoking them unless it was absolutelynecessary.”

“But weren’t you just in a conflict with them?” Rosalie asked, surprised.

“What other choice did I have? If Lillian were to be bedridden for life in a vegetative state, I’m certainyou’d be unhappy for the rest of your life too,” he explained, fully aware of the strong bond betweenRosalie and Lillian.
