Chapter 1009

“Sorry!” Jerick said.

Lillian was silent. It was 1.6 million dollars. For ordinary people, it might be impossible to make thisamount of money for a lifetime. However, it was worth spending 1.6 million dollars to see through

someone.

“Lillian, Jerick is right in front of you now. What do you want me to do with him?” Callum’s voicesounded in her ear. “Do you want his reputation to be ruined, or for him to be put into prison? It’s 1.6million dollars we’re talking about. Even if there’s no name on the post, the profits he made are enoughfor him to be sentenced. If you want him to suffer, tell me. I’ll do it.”

He could be the sharp blade in her hand, dealing with all those who had hurt her.

Jerick’s face turned pale as if he had expected what would happen to him.

Lillian looked at Jerick quietly and said after a long time, “You saved me and my child back then. Duringthe car accident, you were the first to run over and send me to the hospital. I remember this favor. Thus, I’ll let you go to pay off that debt. From now on, we’ll have no relationship with each other, andwe’ll no longer be friends!”

Jerick’s lips trembled as if he wanted to say something. However, he didn’t say anything in the end.Callum looked at Lillian and said, “Since you want to do that, I respect you.” Then, he told thebodyguards beside them, “You guys don’t have to stay here anymore. Mr. Backman can go anywherehe wants.” After saying that, Callum took Lillian’s hand and said, “Let’s go.”

Lillian nodded and left.

“Lillian!” Jerick finally shouted and said with a heavy heart, “I won’t hurt you anymore.”

Lillian didn’t reply, following Callum back to the car.

Along the way, Lillian was silent and looked down at her bulging abdomen.

That night, Jerick posted on the Internet, admitting that someone had given saying that someone hadgiven him 1.6 million dollars to frame Lillian.

He also stated he would donate all the 1.6 million dollars to charity. Plus, he clarified that he hadalways been friends with Lillian, despite knowing her from a blind date. Nothing beyond friendshiphappened between them.

Also, he was deeply sorry to his former friend.

This post was not long. The comments below the posts were all kinds of insults against him. Of course, some people were guessing who gave him 1.6 million dollars.

When Lillian saw the post, he couldn’t help asking Callum, “Did you ask him to post this?”

“No, he posted it himself. Of course, if he didn’t, the police would be the one issuing this statement in afew days,” Callum replied.

“What?” Lillian was stunned. “But didn’t we say that we’ll let it go?”

Callum said indifferently, “You’re the one who said that. However, I never agreed to let the person whohurt

you off the hook. He at least felt guilty about it, though.”

Lillian hesitated. “Then, you have to deal with him later…”

“Since he has proven your innocence, I won’t touch him,” Callum said. “However, it seems that hisinitial intention to frame you may not have been solely because of the 1.6 million dollars back then.”

“What do you mean?” Lillian was confused.

“Jerick has some problems with his sexual orientation,” he answered.

“Sexuality?” Lillian’s eyes suddenly widened in disbelief. “Do you want to say that he likes men?”“Although he didn’t have any male lovers, he had visited some special bars and went to see apsychologist regularly. My mother on?e bribed the psychologist. She got to know from the psychologistthat Jerick was also troubled by his fantasies about men.” Callum continued.

Lillian really didn’t expect Jerick would be facing such a situation. Thus, it seemed that he chose toframe

her to keep his sexual orientation from being exposed.

If she hadn’t been on a blind date with Jerick before, Callum’s mother would not have investigatedeverything about Jerick at all. Jerick wouldn’t have been stuck in such a situation if that was the case.Lillian thought of the two times Jerick apologies. He called to apologize one time before the incident, while the second time was today.

“If he really did that to avoid his private matter being exposed, I’m actually the one dragging him intothis mess,” Lillian exclaimed, suddenly thinking of something. “If he posts like this again, will yourmother expose his secret?”

“Don’t worry, Jerick is just a useless pawn. My mother wouldn’t be bothered with him. If Jerick’s secretwere exposed, it’d only prove more that you and he are innocent.” Callum comforted her.

Lillian agreed, finally feeling relieved.

“Well, I think that’s the end to it. Don’t think about Jerick anymore. He’s just a passerby in your life!”Callum didn’t like her to think about other men, even if that man had a different sexual orientation.

“I know,” Lillian replied. However, she seemed to regret it. “If he told me that he had been threatened,he could have told me. I could have helped him find a way. There’s no need to go to that step. Besides, even if I really know his secret, I won’t look down on him. I will still—”

“Will you still help him find a date?” Callum raised his eyebrows.

Lillian’s expression suddenly became a little awkward.

At this moment, Callum’s phone rang. He picked up the phone and listened for a while before he saidsoftly, “Okay. You can proceed.”

After the call, Lillian couldn’t help asking, “What’s wrong? What happened?”

Although his expression didn’t change, she could feel that he was somewhat different. She could feelthat he seemed distant and that he seemed to be filled with a sense of loneliness.

“Nothing.” He smiled, looking the same as usual.

“Callum, if there’s anything, I hope that you can tell me. Perhaps I can’t help to share your burden, youcan at least tell me about your troubles. Plus, it can prevent me from overthinking” Lillian replied.

She didn’t want to be the one who was protected. She wanted to share some burden with him.

“My mother is going abroad. My subordinates told me about it,” Callum answered.novelbin

“Your mother…is going abroad?” Lillian was a little surprised. If his mother was going abroad, did itmean that she had already given up?
