He lifted his leg to kick James.
James moved his body.
Howard missed and fell to the ground.
Tossing Lex’s cane onto the floor, James walked toward the sofa and sat down. Immediately, herealized Thea was missing. He hurriedly asked, “Gladys, where’s Thea?” Gladys’ eyes were red. Hertears had already dried up.
She burst into tears and rebuked James. “It’s all your fault. If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t have to gothrough such an ordeal. Thea and David were abducted by Maximus’men. He told us to gather moneyand go to Osmanthus villa before the sun sets. Otherwise, we’ll have to collect their bodies.”
James’ face darkened. “Damn you, Maximus!” He smashed the table.
It was a glass table. The table was instantly smashed to pieces. The glass fragments scattered on thefloor. He stood up and looked at the Callahans. “Listen to me and stay here. Don’t go anywhere elsebefore I return. Otherwise, don’t blame me if something happens.” Saying that, he turned to leave.
Meanwhile, the Callahans were staring at the shattered glass table, unable to return to their senses.
