Though James was ambushed, he had been secretly gathering strength to deal the death blow themoment Lucifer lowered his guard.
After attacking, James collapsed. Unable to hold on to Sacrilegious Ascension any longer, his spinewhich was formed using Empyrean Spiritual Energy dissipated. Without the support of his spine, Jamescould not even stand.
However, he could not collapse. To collapse now would mean that he had lost the battle, or at bestfought to a draw.
He tried to roll over. However, as his spine was shattered, not to mention that his injuries were grave,he felt excruciating pain throughout his body the moment he moved. Even though he had cultivated hisphysical body for a long time, he could not endure the pain.
So, he lay on the ground and rested.
The Demonic Energy inside his body had yet to be depleted. Threads of Demonic Energy slowlyrejuvenated his injuries. However, the Demonic Energy was scarce. It was merely like a drop in theocean. It was no use.
He lay on the pile of rubble and panted for breath.
Lucifer was the same. After forcibly catalyzing the Imperial Weapon and summoning its full strength,not to mention being injured by the Infinity Steles and ambushed by James, he was already at his limit.
The two simply lay on the ground, motionless.
Upon seeing that the battle had died down, the living beings that were observing the battle summonedtheir courage and slowly approached the battlefield.
After approaching the pile of rubble, they realized that both James and Lucifer were lying on the groundmotionless.

A few beasts approached Lucifer and tried to help him up.
“Get lost!”
Lucifer roared.

“Stand down!” Lucifer said, “How can I possibly be defeated by the likes of him?”
He leaned against a rock as he stood. However, the moment he stood, he collapsed to the ground oncemore.
Though the beasts wanted to help him up, they did not dare to do so.
After a couple of minutes, Lucifer finally managed to stand up. Staring into the distance, he noticed thatJames was lying on the ground with a group of people surrounding him.
However, no one helped him up as well.
“You have lost, James.”
Lucifer walked in James’ direction, staggering and stumbling his way toward him.
James’ injuries were simply too grave, not to mention that he had lost his spine. As such, he could notstand. However, he did not lose consciousness and was able to hear Lucifer’s words.
However, he could not see him.
In fact, he could only see the sky and a few familiar faces before him-the Blithe King, Henry, Delainey,and Quincy.
As for the rest, he could not see their faces.
“Did Lucifer manage to stand?”
He asked in a feeble voice.
Seeing that no one answered him, he roared, “Answer me!”
However, his roar aggravated his injuries, and he vomited a mouthful of blood.
Quincy hurriedly said, “Y-Yes, he did.”
Hearing this, James took a deep breath. That would mean he had lost.
