432-Pushed Me Down
I felt a weird, bitter taste in my mouth even when the drug was injected into my neck. Corbin was stillholding me by my arms when he pulled me over his chest to support my body and keep it from falling.His scent filled my nostrils, and my muscles contracted.
He drew his face into my neck and whispered, “I realized chasing after a she-wolf is just a fool’s errand.My father did it, and look where it got him. So I will do what will promise me a long, lasting, andpowerful life, And while doing so, I will need your help,” he said, pulling his head away from me andthen smirking.
I realized I was no longer feeling drowsy. It was so scary when I realized my head was instantly back inthe right place.
“I am sorry, but some triggering needs to be done,” he whispered, and then I watched him push meback. Everything was happening in such a scary way that my world turned slowly for a moment. Iwatched him slowly push me down, and my body fell back. The space between us grew as I wentdown. My body slammed against the hard surface, and that’s when I felt the pain. A striking pain ranfrom my head to my entire body, and tears streamed down my cheeks. My body was hurting; my sightwas turning blurry, but I kept my eyes on the top of the staircase.
Corbin stood there with a smile on his lips, and then he gestured at his guard for something. Soon Ifound my body getting dragged out of the mansion brutally. I wanted to whimper and let out a cry, butthere was no use. I couldn’t let out a s*b. I lost a lot of blood after hitting my head.
The guard left me on the side of the road and went back inside. I moved a muscle, fighting to get up,when I heard footsteps approaching me.
“Oh, sh*t!” Marko appeared in my sight when hunching on top of me. “I need to take you to thehospital.” He sounded panicky when he pulled his arms under my body and picked me up in his arms.He rushed me to the back of his car and started driving crazily.
I passed out after I couldn’t take it anymore. I am thankful to Marko for being there for me. Not only didhe take me to the hospital, but he also took care of me and stayed beside me in the hospital. I woke upa few hours later and found out that Lazlo had come after being informed of the situation, but later Ipassed out again until finally waking the next day.
“She will need care and rest until she heals completely,” the doctor said as he discharged me. I insistedon going back to the mansion and continuing my treatment there. There was so much that Corbindisclosed to me last night that I couldn’t stay at the hospital and not worry about Janet.
Lazlo helped me walk up to the car, and soon our journey back home began. The doctor added somevampire blood to the medicine to help me heal better. A few drops were enough, but those few dropscouldn’t help me with the blood loss, only the wounds have healed.
“So Corbin pushed you downstairs?” Lazlo asked, driving the car and slowly grunting.
“That’s what I told you,” I uttered under my breath after feeling tired of telling him the same thingrepeatedly.
“But why did you go to him? Why not come to me and talk to me about it?” He almost raised his voiceuntil he closed his eyes and calmed down.novelbin
“You were at work,” I said. He could hear the complaint in my voice.
“Just like always. I understand you never used to ask me to take a step before, but you are not thatstrong anymore, Enya. You should call me first before walking into a deadly situation like that.” He
scoffed as he shook his head and kept driving home. It was 6 p.m., so the darkness had engulfed thesurrounding area with the dark clouds covering the sky.
“So, what are we going to do now?” I asked, turning a little to look at him.
“We will go home and put you to rest. Don’t worry about the dinner; I will order something,” hewhispered as he ignored what I really wanted to know from him.
“Lazlo! I mean about Corbin. He is clearly up to something. He said something about triggering me. Oh!He also injected something into my body,” I uttered, sounding frustrated. I watched him roll his eyesand instantly got the answer.
“If you stay at home and don’t visit him, you will be fine. So, let’s stick to doing that,” he said, soundingtired as always whenever I suggest we do something regarding any serious matter.
“You want me to look away from this matter? Lazlo! He is forcing Janet to accept him–,” I haven’t evenadded the last part because a scoff from Lazlo’s lips silenced me.
“And that is the problem. You do realize people can’t chase after you all the time, right? They will fall inlove with others and eventually get over you. It is time that you get over it,” he answered and parkedthe car.
“So we are not doing anything?” I refused to get out until he answered me. It has been like that. Everytime I am talking to him, he runs away from me.
“Enya! We are not some teenagers on a mission to save the world. Let’s keep this energy for our packonly.” With those words being said, he opened the door to get out when his phone started ringing. Hespared a glance at the caller ID and then sneakily answered the call, rushing out of the car.
“Valerie! It was her,” I said, coming out of the car to stare at him. He spoke to her for only a minutebefore hanging up the phone and approaching me.
“Why was Valerie calling you at this time?” I asked, with my arms folded over my chest.
