Chapter 2008: Summer Is Still Kind

Chapter 2008: Summer is Still Kind

Angel held her throbbing, fiery face, feeling as if stars were exploding in front of her eyes. But sheonly felt dizzy for a moment, quickly mustering her emotions because she didn't want to be beatenagain, nor did she want a retake. So, she slowly turned her gaze towards the woman who hadstruck her... this former friend of hers, whose presence stirred a mix of emotions within her.

Summer, looking low-spirited, gazed back at her, seemingly genuinely hurt. She murmured withoutshouting or yelling, "He's my boyfriend. He just has amnesia. Because your eyes look like mine, that's why he fell in love with you!"

Zoe felt guilty hearing her speak this way. Summer depicted her sadness and torment withoutscreaming or wailing, conveying her inner turmoil skilfully. Tearfully, she asked, "Do you know if heloves you or me? You're just my shadow, nothing more..."

"Riverflow, I..." Zoe tried to speak, but Summer interrupted, "Zoe, you've always been my bestfriend. I never thought I would be replaced..."

She closed her eyes in anguish, then took a deep breath. "When he told me he might be falling inlove with you, did you ever consider my feelings?"

The two women's eyes met, brimming with various emotions, portraying Riverflow and Zoe'scharacters vividly.

Several cameras captured their every subtle expression from different angles.

"OK!" the director exclaimed satisfactorily. "That was excellent! Cut!"

Angel breathed a sigh of relief. Although Summer hadn't openly plotted against her, the slap shereceived today was not light. It wasn't as severe as the day she had slapped her, but it still left amark.

Summer strictly stuck to the script and didn't act out of malice.

"Sorry," Summer said softly to her, showing respect as a junior to an elder.

Hearing those three words, Angel was slightly surprised.novelbin

"Today's a wrap!" the director announced cheerfully to everyone. "Go home and rest well! Let's tryto maintain today's performance for tomorrow. If we keep this shooting pace, we might be able towrap up earlier."

Adelaide took Angel back to the rest area and, seeing her bruised face, felt sorry for her. "How areyou feeling? Here, let's apply some ice first."

Angel took the ice pack and sat down on a chair, not saying a word, her emotions complex. Shedidn't know what she was thinking, only that it felt heavy.

She wondered if Summer's slap contained any hint of vengeance. In any case, Angel felt terrible.

On set, she could feel the director's encouragement and care for Summer, but she felt a sense ofisolation. She used to be close to the director, but now who could she cling to? She couldn't rely onDaniel, could she? He was famous for being honest, with a wife and children, a warm and lovingfamily. She couldn't take that risk.

But this was her most frustrating role to date. In her own self-perception, she would always be theleading lady, so when could she not even speak up about playing a supporting role?

Nighttime.

Elisa drove Summer home, the young girl in high spirits. "Summer, do you know? Your performancetoday was amazing. When I was in the bathroom, I overheard the director secretly praising you, saying it exceeded his expectations."

"You performed exceptionally well. Even I thought it was beyond expectations." Summer turned tolook at her. "But you know, this director doesn't exert any pressure, so the actors' performances arealso excellent. It's not just my scenes that are good, but theirs as well."
