Chapter 898 Make Yourself Impotent

Clenching his fists, Veikko slowly made his way over to Shaun.

Hooking a finger around the rim of the urn, Shaun sneered, “You'd better not look at me like that. If I getfrightened, I might drop this thing on the rock. As you know, it's made of glass, and it's fragile. If youdon't want your mother's ashes to scatter everywhere, you'd better stay put and don't move.”

Veikko abruptly halted in his tracks, narrowing his eyes as he glared at Shaun.

After a moment of silence, he asked through gritted teeth, “What do you want?”

Shaun smiled evilly. “Don't you already know what I want? Is there really a need to ask?”

Once his words trailed off, he swept his gaze around and issued a command that dripped withcoldness, “Have all your dogs fall back a hundred meters from here.”

Veikko narrowed his hawk-like eyes as he glowered at the other man, hesitating.

Shaun began fiddling with the urn in his hands.

“You better hurry up, or my hand's going to grow numb and the urn might slip from my fingers. Once itcrashes onto the ground, your mother's ashes will be scattered into the winds.”

Veikko slowly raised his arm, waving it mid-air.

His bodyguard's expression changed as he blurted out, “Mr. Veikko, I can't leave you here to face thedanger alone. I'll make them retreat and stay right here with you. Let's face everything and anything

together.”

Veikko remained silent and simply lifted his gaze to look at Shaun, as if asking for the latter's opinion.

Shaun flicked the urn lightly with his other hand, his fingers that were hooked around it slowly looseningtheir grip.

Given how the urn was swaying unsteadily, it could slip off his fingertips and crash on the ground at anymoment.

Veikko widened his eyes and coldly ordered his bodyguard, “Step back.”

The bodyguard discerned the importance Veikko placed on those ashes. Despite his reluctance, heobediently stepped back and contemplated calling Bailey, asking her to come to their rescue.

After the bodyguard left, Veikko scowled at Shaun, clenching his jaw as he said, “I've already done asyou instructed. You can state your terms now. What exactly do I need to do for you to return mymother's ashes to me?”

Shaun lowered his gaze slightly, his eyes resting on the area below his abdomen.

The mere thought of his current impotence caused a surge of strong resentment to rise in his heart, and his expression turned hostile.

The sole source of my joy was ruined by this b*stard. He actually has the nerve to ask me to state myterms. Does he really not know what I want?

“You must have heard of the saying 'give you a taste of your own medicine,' right? Since you've mademe impotent, I, of course, intend to do the same to you. Either you do it yourself, or I'll have my mencastrate you.”

Veikko subconsciously clenched his fists.

I knew this jerk was going to make such a request. How can I do as he says? If I really do that, whatwill happen to Caridee?

As he fell into deep thought, a cold female voice echoed through the silent valley.

“Mr. Carter, how about this? I'll trade in two living people for you to return those ashes to my brother. I'llalso spare your lives. What do you think? Is that a good deal, or not?”

Shaun's gaze darted around randomly before finally settling on a large tree to the southeast.

A hint of hesitation flickered in his eyes when he saw those two familiar figures.

The woman and the child were none other than his wife and son.

“Shaun, save me.”

“Daddy, help!”

Bailey emerged from behind the tree trunk, smiling at Shaun and arching her eyebrows casually. “Yourlair has been taken over by me. Even if you manage to escape today with these ashes, you won't be

able to get out of Moranta. So why don't you calm down and make a deal with me? Let's negotiate andfind a win-win solution together. What do you say?”

Shaun was so angry that he began trembling all over, causing the urn in his grip to shake violently, too.

So, this has been a trap all along. They had it all planned out. And here I thought I could capture thatlittle b*stard when I've practically shot myself in the foot. How ridiculous and infuriating!

A sharp, determined glint flashed past Bailey's eyes when she saw the urn shaking in his hand.

Aware that the other half of those ashes had been destroyed amidst that fateful rainy night, a painfulmemory that continued to linger in Veikko's heart, she was resolute in preventing his agony fromdeepening.

She must safeguard the remaining half of those ashes for him, even if it meant letting Shaun go.

Moreover, it was not like Shaun posed a huge threat that she couldn't deal with.

He was a minor threat at most.

She was confident she could easily capture him again if she let him go today.

“Mr. Carter, you must protect the urn in your hands. After all, it's now the only thing that can save yourfamily of three. If you're not careful with it and end up dropping it, this valley will become your and yourfamily's final resting place. What's that saying again? It's better to live a wretched life than to die a gooddeath, isn't it? I suppose you wouldn't want to die in such a pathetic way, would you? Most importantly,if you die, the Carter family's substantial fortune will all fall into Veikko's hands. Are you willing to accept

that?”

Naturally, Shaun would not be content with that.

He cradled the urn in his arms protectively.

“If I give you the urn, w-will you really let me and my family go?”

Bailey spread her hands and smiled. “Of course. I came in peace, after all.”

With that, she led Meredith and her son toward Shaun's car. novelbin

“I'll hand them to you, and you'll hand over the ashes to me. Don't try anything funny, or I can'tguarantee I'll keep my word.”

Bailey shoved the mother and son toward Shaun after arriving before him.

“Here you go. I've shown my sincerity by giving you what you want first. We must honor ourcommitments in a business deal, Mr. Carter. Now, it's your turn to give me the urn. Don't pull any tricks,or none of you will get out of here alive,” she warned.

Shaun surveyed his surroundings and confirmed that an escape was impossible.

Like she said, we won't get out of here alive if I try anything funny. Looks like I have no choice but togive her the ashes.

“Shaun, just trust her. Our lives may not matter, but our son is still young. It's too cruel to let him die

with us,” Meredith persuaded.

Shaun gritted his teeth and said reluctantly, “Get in the car.”

After he finished speaking, he handed the urn to his personal bodyguard standing nearby, instructing,“Hold onto this. Only hand it to her once all three of us have left.”

“Yes, sir.”

Bailey couldn't help sneering. This guy is such a jerk, but he does have a good subordinate. It's such ashame that he's using this loyal underling of his as a human shield.

Watching the car drive out of the valley, Bailey raised an eyebrow and said, “Kiddo, I know what you'rethinking, but I advise you not to act rashly. If you destroy this urn, your boss will still fail to escape frommy grasp. So, be a lamb and hand it over. I might just spare your life.”

The crazed look in the bodyguard's eyes gradually faded away.

He indeed had thought of destroying the urn, but her warning made him decide against doing it.

“I didn't give it to you out of fear, but purely because I didn't want anything bad to happen to Mr. Carter. He's treated me well,” he explained.

Smiling in amusement, Bailey took the urn from his hands.

Veikko walked over from a distance, furrowing his brows as he asked, “Are we really letting that jerkgo?”
