Chapter 865 Shamelessly Begging Her

The two were very close to each other. Although Bailey had sensed the danger, she was unable tododge and retreat in such a short span of time.

Seeing the sharp blade inching closer to her back, she resignedly closed her eyes.

Two seconds later, the anticipated pain didn't strike. She quickly sidestepped to the side.

Turning around, she found Yolanda slumped on the ground, both hands covering her thigh, from whichblood was pouring out.

She instinctively looked toward Raiden, noticed an undischarged dart in his hand, and immediatelyunderstood what had happened. novelbin

“Thank you so much. Otherwise, I fear I might have lost my life here today.”

Raiden snorted coldly, “Do you think I wouldn't have done something? If she dares to harm you undermy watch, I might as well be dead.”

After he spoke, his gaze swept over her a few times, then he furrowed his brow and asked, “You usedto be quite nimble, no? What's going on with you today, standing there and letting her stab you? What, got so used to being protected by men that your combat prowess diminished?”

With a sigh of resignation, Bailey glared at him and said, “You know very well that I suffered a majorsetback last year. My body hasn't fully recovered yet, but don't worry. Once I'm back at my peak, youmight not even be able to beat me.”

The man said nothing in response.

Upon seeing her daughter injured, Lindsay rushed over and held her in her arms.

“Yola, are you okay?”

Yolanda ignored her, staring blankly at Raiden. Her voice choked with emotion when she uttered, “I'veadmired you for a long time. Don't you have any feelings for me at all?”

Raiden didn't even bother to look at her, his voice cold and detached as he spoke. “Ms. Gibson, I wouldappreciate it if you could take back your affection as it's merely filth and shame to me. I bear no grudgeagainst you, so don't tarnish my reputation.”

She was speechless.

This man, he's truly heartless.

Yolanda burst into boisterous laughter, her gaze sweeping toward Bailey. Her eyes were filled withunyielding hatred and resentment.

“You've taken my father's legacy from me, and now, you've taken the man I love as well. Bailey, Idespise you; I wish I could tear you into a thousand pieces and grind your bones to dust.”

“You're stubbornly ignorant.” Bailey couldn't help but sneer, “If that's the case, then you might as well sitin jail. When you figure things out, that's when you can come out. If you can't, you might as well stay inthere forever. Master Josiah was wholeheartedly devoted to protecting you. I believe the safest place

for you would be in prison. He can rest in peace knowing that.”

“Bailey, you and I are irreconcilable.”

Bailey ignored her and strode out of the guest room.

She had encountered all sorts of evildoers along her journey, all kinds of ruthless characters. To behonest, they really didn't scare her.

“Raiden, handle it impartially. There's no need to consider my feelings.”

“Okay.”

At a certain hotel in Dellmoor, inside a suite, Eunice was leaning against the floor-to-ceiling window, admiring the urban night view outside.

At that moment, the door swung open, and a female bodyguard walked in from outside.

“Ms. Eunice, just as you predicted, the schemes of the mother and daughter of the Gibson family haveindeed failed. It's a good thing you didn't go to the meeting; otherwise, you would have really walkedinto a trap. What should we do now? If Ms. Catherine's daughter survives, she will inevitably marry intothe Luther family. Once she climbs up the high branch that is the Luther family, it will be difficult for youto bring her down.”

Eunice raised an eyebrow, a sinister smile playing at the corner of her lips.

“Then find a way to stop that little b*stard from surviving and then prevent Simon from marryingCatherine. Without the Luther family as her support, she will remain isolated and helpless, andsomeday, I will reclaim what rightfully belongs to me from her, bit by bit.”

The female bodyguard responded affirmatively and praised her employer's wisdom before adding,“They should be preparing to go to Moranta. Ms. Eunice, should we follow them? If we should, then Iwill make the arrangements immediately.”

“All right, make the arrangements. If I don't go, how can I prevent her from clinging to the high branchthat is the Luther family?”

“Yes.”

The next day, at the Fletcher residence's infirmary, Catherine dealt with the sedative fragrance forSloan, and Bailey initiated the dream-tailoring skill, freeing him from his slumber.

Awakening from a deep dream, he felt as if ages had passed.

Sloan's condition was better than ever before as if he had undergone a complete transformation.

“Is there anywhere else that hurts? If so, you must speak up. Otherwise, once we leave, there will beno one to solve these complex problems for you.”

Sloan smiled lightly and sighed. “Such promising youth, such promising youth indeed. I've alwaysthought highly of my son and taken great pride in him. But now, having seen your skills, I realize thatI've been short-sighted and ignorant. It's a pity that my foolish son didn't have the good fortune ofmarrying you.”

Bailey raised an eyebrow and said, “Raiden and I are close friends. Perhaps in our previous life, welacked a bit of fate. But in the next life, or the life after that, there will always be one life where we canbe together. So why should we fuss over something that is insignificant?”

“Very well, it seems I had my view of the important overshadowed by the trivial, needing a young girllike you to enlighten me. I feel refreshed and clear-headed now. My mind is more relaxed than everbefore. From now on, I will always maintain this mindset and not bring trouble to myself.”

Bailey nodded with a smile. “You should have done this a long time ago. With the heavy responsibilityof a nation on your shoulders, you should take good care of your health. The reason I had youunconscious for a month was to help you clear your mind and shed those heavy burdens.”

“Haha, in the whole world, you're the only gutsy girl who would dare to do this.”

She said nothing to that.

Back at Hallsbay in the Fletcher residence's guest room, upon hearing that her father hadn't died,Scarlett felt as if she had returned to heaven from hell.

She held her phone tightly in her hand, a hint of mockery flashing in her eyes.

That old woman, who was so arrogant yesterday, is about to be put in her place today. I'm actuallycurious to see how you're going to shamelessly beg and suck up to me.

Knock, knock, knock!

Someone knocked on the door.

Scarlett's lips curled up into a mocking smile, and she said, “Come in.”

The door swung open, and Olivia walked in with a tray.

“Lettie, I was rather upset yesterday, so I got a bit carried away and said some things that might haveupset you. Look, I had a hard time sleeping last night. I got up early to make mushroom soupspecifically to come and apologize to you.”

Scarlett let out a cold sneer, feigning confusion as she said, “Why should you apologize to me? I'm theone who deceived you; I should be the one to admit my mistake. You're right. I'm nothing more than adown-and-out heiress now and not worthy of Justin. You should hurry and find a suitable daughter-in-law from a good family instead of wasting your time on me.”

The expression on Olivia's face was somewhat stiff as if she was struggling to keep up appearances.

Scarlett had received news that Sloan was not dead, so it was unlikely Olivia didn't know about it.

Her actions were nothing more than a ploy to make Olivia speak up and metaphorically slap the latterin the face.

However, for the sake of her family, what other choices did she have apart from satisfying her vanity?

“Lettie, I heard your father is still alive. It was a foolish mistake on my part. Can you please not hold itagainst me? You're carrying Justin's child. Who else could he possibly marry if not you? Everything I'vesaid is nonsense. I'm just a fool. Don't take me seriously.”
