Chapter 785

Bailey chuckled softly.

“Thank you both, I know you treat me like your own daughter and don't want me to leave with him atsuch a young age. However, he is my heart, and life is truly hard without a heart. Don't be sad. You stillhave Simon and Caridee. Max, Zayron, and Susan are also your beloved grandchildren, and blood isthicker than water. They will take good care of you and show their filial piety on our behalf.”

Felicity cried sadly. Tears streamed down her face as she shook her head incessantly.

“No! No, no, no! No matter how much we love and care for the children, we can never replace you astheir mother. Bay, listen to me. Can we face this obstacle together and not give up on our lives soeasily?”

Bailey laughed and said, “Mom, don't get too agitated. I won't leave with him right away. I want topersonally avenge him. Maybe after some time, I'll come to my senses and change my mind. I'll livewell for him, raise our children, and support our parents.”

Felicity hurriedly said, “Alright, alright, I'll remember what you said. You're a well-behaved child, and Iknow you won't go back on your word. Avenging Artemis is not just your responsibility, but also that ofmy Luther family. Hurry and take him back to Hallsbay, and we'll sit down and discuss this matterproperly.”

“Alright, I'll head to Moranta first, save my future sister-in-law, and then immediately return to Hallsbay.”

“Alright. It's settled then. You must come back alive. I will be standing at the door every day, waitingand hoping.”

“Alright.”

The sound of the phone beeping sounded through the phone, indicating that Bailey had ended the call. She was afraid that if she continued hearing Felicity's voice, she wouldn't be able to continue actingbecause she felt guilty inside.

Felicity truly loved and cared for her, yet she deceived her, causing her to endure the pain of losing achild. Even though it was just acting, she could clearly sense the old lady's sadness and despairthrough the phone. Felicity leaned into Gerald's embrace and cried uncontrollably.

“How could this have happened? Artemis held such great power, and there was hardly anyone whocould rival him in the whole world. How could he just...”

Gerald closed his eyes heavily and said in a broken voice, “It's easy to dodge an open attack, but hardto guard against a hidden threat. In his position, glory and danger coexist.”

As a powerful figure in the Luther family, he was already in a precarious situation. After he alsocontrolled Tarragon, how could he not become everyone's target?

In a world where the strong preyed on the weak, only one rule governed survival.

Might made right, and the defeated must pay the price. It was the law of the jungle. Artemis lost andultimately paid for his defeat with his life. It was fate, and one had to accept it. Felicity cried even moresadly.

“What should Bay do? They loved each other so much. Without Artemis, how will she live her life?”

Gerald sighed continuously. Perhaps the greatest kindness he could show her was to let her go withArtemis into the night.

However, their several grandchildren had already lost their father, and they could not afford to lose theirmother as well. As a grandfather, he had his own personal motives. He hoped to save Bailey's life sothat their children could experience the fullness of a mother's love.

“If it really does not work, then we should try to stop her from seeking revenge. As long as the personwho poisoned Artemis remains alive, she will continue to live with determination. As time goes by, herwounds will gradually heal, and she will slowly learn to let go. Perhaps, she could finally get out of hermisery.”

Felicity's eyes lit up, and she stopped crying.

“That's a good idea. Let's do it. If she wants to kill Sofie, we'll secretly stop her. We can stall for a yearor so before discussing our next step, but we must keep her alive.”

“Alright, I'll take over the Luther Group tomorrow and secretly deploy people to hinder Bailey'sprogress. Once she gradually accepts everything and decides to live on, we'll kill Sofie to avenge ourson.”

“Alright. Let's arrange it this way.”

...

The news of the Tarragon leader's death by poisoning spread quickly around the world. Differentfactions were eagerly anticipating their chance to act, all waiting for the perfect opportunity to seize aportion of the vast entity known as Tarragon, thereby bolstering their own power.

In the Tarragon Headquarters. Inside the master's study. Artemis held Bailey as they leaned on the sofatogether. After finishing the phone call with Gerald and Felicity, Bailey's eyes were red and swollen, andshe felt somewhat upset.

“Artemis, I feel guilty. I can deceive anyone, but I really can't bear to deceive your parents. People oftensay that the greatest pain in the world is the pain of losing a child. At their age, they still have to enduresuch torment because of me. I...”

At that point, her voice began to choke up, and she just couldn't get the words out anymore. Artemistenderly held her head in his hands, softly pressing his lips against her eyebrows and the corners of hereyes, gently kissing away the tears that stained her face.

“I'm sorry. I made things difficult for you. However, don't worry. They won't feel too upset because theyhave the children accompanying them. At most, they'll be upset for a while. Let's quickly take care ofSofie and then go back to apologize to them. Once they know I'm alive, they won't complain, but will behappy instead.”

Bailey reached out to embrace him. Just as she was about to kiss the corner of his mouth, an untimelylight cough sounded. Zeke turned his face away slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed.

“That's enough, you two. There are more people in the room. So, what should we do next?” Baileyglared at him and muttered, “What a buzzkill. Can't he see we're being affectionate and give us somespace?”

Upon hearing this, Zeke couldn't help but laugh out loud. He abruptly stood up from the sofa andwalked out, getting ready to leave. Bailey hurriedly grabbed him and chuckled, “Zeke, I was wrong. You're a generous person, please don't take offense at my petty actions. I've made up my mind. Theday after tomorrow, I'll set off for Moranta to save my sister-in-law. Are you happy about it?”

Zeke reached out and flicked her forehead twice forcefully. Upon seeing the situation, Artemis quicklyembraced her protectively in his arms. novelbin

“Zeke, her mind isn't working too well right now. Please go easy on her and don't turn her into acomplete fool, or else we'll be the ones dealing with the aftermath.”

Bailey nestled in her man's arms, giggling, and couldn't help but provoke Zeke, “If you had recognizedme a year ago, perhaps you could have shown off your power as my elder brother. However, you can'tdo that now, because I have a husband to protect me. If you hit me, be careful. My husband might beatyou to death. He's really tough.”

Artemis couldn't help but smile. He gently rubbed the back of her head, and said helplessly, “I haven'teven married you yet, and you've already offended Zeke terribly in my name. If he tries to obstruct mewhen I propose, resulting in a miserable and pitiable situation, I'll need you to intervene and persuadehim, taking care not to aggravate him to the point of annoyance.” Bailey was fearless.

She scoffed and said, “It's as if he can marry a wife without my consent. Don't forget, he's going tomarry my disciple. According to tradition, he must formally ask me for permission as I'm her master.”

Zeke was at a loss for words. ... Moranta. In the Saviors branch. Caridee sneaked out of her bedroom, ready to head to the kitchen in search of something to eat. As she walked through the corridor, she

overheard a few female bodyguards discussing the Tarragon. Out of curiosity, she stopped in hertracks.

“Have you heard? The Tarragon leader has been poisoned and died.”

“This news has already spread, so naturally, I've heard about it.”
