Chapter 765

At the banquet hall, one of Caridee's male friends had invited her to dance on the dance floor. Astridwas in a dilemma as she stared blankly at the two glasses of red wine in front of her.

She knew that once she poured the drug into the glass tonight, Caridee would be completely ruined, and their friendship would never be the same again.

But what can I do? If I don't do this, my entire family will have to suffer the consequences. I can't justdisregard my family, can I?

Astrid hesitated for a long time, and just as the dance was about to end, she finally reached out slowlytoward Caridee's glass of wine. A moment later, Caridee walked over while lifting the hem of her dress.

“Grayson is not only the most handsome guy in our business school but also the most popular guy onthe entire campus. All the female students have their eyes on him, yet he only has eyes for you. Alas, the beauty is indifferent to him, and he can only feel hurt in secret. You don't know how happy he iswhen you agreed to dance with him tonight.”

Caridee shook her head with a smile.

This must be what they call the whims of fate. I don't love the one who loves me, but the one I lovedoesn't love me back. In the end, we become strangers who pretend we don't know each other.

Astrid raised her wine glass and clinked it with Caridee's.

“Here's to the countless helplessness we encounter in life. May these troubles leave us sooner ratherthan later.” Caridee picked up her glass and clinked it against her friend's.

“All right. Cheers.”

Once they had downed the wine in their glasses, Caridee felt a sudden wave of dizziness, and hervision blurred.

“This wine... It's quite strong, huh? Which fool replaced the red wine with hard liquor?”

As she spoke, her head drooped, and she slumped down on the table. Astrid quickly reached out tosupport her, asking gently, “Do you have something on your mind? Otherwise, you wouldn't be drunkafter just a couple of drinks.”

Caridee giggled. “You... guessed right. I do have something on my mind. It's a secret. But I won't tellyou. You'll have to figure it out yourself.” Astrid glared at her and yanked her up from the chair.

“Come on, let me take you to the lounge to rest for a bit. We don't want you acting crazy while drunkand causing a scene everyone will know about.” Caridee was still somewhat conscious. After hearingher words, she urged anxiously, “Hurry! Hurry up and help me leave. I don't want to embarrass myself, and I definitely don't want them to recognize me.”

Astrid kept silent at that. She supported Caridee as she pushed open the door to the lounge and threwthe latter onto the couch inside.

“Caridee, do you need me to stay here with you?” Caridee waved her hand, feeling a bit uncomfortableas waves of heat surged within her body.

“No need, I know you want to take this opportunity to find a wealthy husband. Go ahead! There are somany beautiful women tonight. Don't let them get ahead of you.”

Astrid smiled and helped her lie down before turning to leave the lounge. Caridee was tormented by theunbearable heat within her body.

She wished she could just dive headfirst into a freezing chamber. Her consciousness gradually fadedaway, and her rationality slowly vanished.

She soon completely lost herself. A wave of coolness swept over her as she pulled down the zipper ofher evening gown. The air conditioner was running in the room, providing her with a moment ofcomfort.

Clack!

The door handle turned, and the door to the lounge was pushed open. Shaun walked in, and his heartinstantly softened when he saw Caridee's appearance.

Well, this is... interesting.

Tucker did not disappoint him. A thought surfaced in his mind when he saw the beautiful woman insuch a state.

She must be having a hard time now, right?

Caridee suddenly felt a weight on her body and instinctively opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry, and it took her a while to clearly see the other person's face. She became agitated at once.

“D*mn it! You thug. Sc*mbag. Get lost! Get the hell away from me!” Caridee had instantly becomeclear-headed because of how scared she was. She stared intently at Shaun with shimmering eyes. Itwas such a pitiful sight.

The man had wanted to take advantage of her from the moment he first laid eyes on her. Now that hehad the opportunity, how could he possibly let it go? Therefore, her situation was quite worrying.

“I've been thinking about you day and night these past few days, little girl. Don't be so heartless.Behave and listen to me, got it?” Caridee cried. novelbin

I shouldn't have come to this party. But how did I get drugged? Did someone plan this beforehand? I'vejust jumped into their trap so naively!

“I am the daughter of the Luther family. You cannot treat me like this. It may lead to a bloody conflictbetween our families.”

“Luther family's daughter?” Shaun sneered coldly, unable to stop himself from mocking, “Why don't yousay you're a royal princess, then?”

After saying that, he leaned in and kissed her cheek. Caridee quickly tried to dodge, but with her limbsbound, she couldn't break free no matter what she did. In the end, unable to contain her anxiety, sheopened her mouth and bit his face.

Shaun let out a sharp scream, which was followed by the crisp sound of two slaps echoing in the room.Immediately, five distinct finger marks appeared on Caridee's pretty face, and a trace of bright redblood could be seen on the corner of her mouth.

She was left dazed by the forceful slaps he had given her on both cheeks, a buzzing noisecontinuously echoing in her head. Shaun saw that she had stopped resisting and couldn't help butsmirk.

“What's the use of a woman being wild? A good lesson will make her behave. If you had cooperatedobediently just now, would you have had to suffer this pain?”

Caridee slowly closed her eyes, and two streams of tears flowed down her cheeks. She knew therewas no escaping her fate anymore since she was secretly filled with anticipation.

It wasn't that she was undignified.

On the contrary, it was all because of the drug in her system. Caridee could clearly feel her rationalityand consciousness beginning to fade away again.

Before long, the drug would have taken its full effect. However, there was nothing she could do about it.

She waited for what felt like an eternity. Time seemed to stretch on endlessly. Yet, the anticipated painnever came, and the silence was so profound that one could hear a pin drop.

She didn't dare to open her eyes, fearing that upon doing so, the sinful acts would be etched into hermemory. Suddenly, her body was flipped over, and a sharp pain shot through the back of her neck.

Caridee couldn't bear the pain and passed out immediately. Veikko took off his trench coat and coveredher with it. His gaze shifted and fell on Shaun, who was lying unconscious on the ground.

This man was responsible for his mother's death and also the reason he had to live a lifetime in anightmare. And now, he was lying unconscious right before him.

If Veikko were a bit more rational, he should have just struck him with a single, ruthless blow and endedhim right then and there. Nevertheless, Veikko was dissatisfied.

I've endured so much suffering. Why should his death be so easy? I want him to taste the bitterness oflosing a loved one and being forced to endure humiliation.

The tables had turned, and only in this way could things truly be considered fair.

“Mr. Veikko, our objective is too big. Mr. Tucker will soon receive the news and rush over. It will bemuch more troublesome for us to leave by then.”

“Yes, Mr. Veikko. We must wrap things up quickly.”

“Mr. Veikko, should I find a few men to—”

With a cold glance, Veikko successfully made the bodyguard retreat and stop talking.

Men? Hah! That would be letting him off too easily. I'm going to reward him with some beasts and givehim an experience he can never forget for the rest of his life. I'll make him pay tenfold- no, ahundredfold for the pain he had inflicted on me years ago.
