Chapter 731

Yvette had completely lost her mind.

I'm so miserable and might end up in the depths of hell. How can I let this wretched woman have apeaceful ending? How can she possibly live a happy life?

Ignoring the excruciating pain surging through her body, she shouted at the two of them, “Your union isdestined to have an unhappy ending because there are insurmountable obstacles between you. Even alife has been sacrificed—the life of your own son.”

When Shannon heard that, her body trembled violently. If it weren't for acting, she would never getclose to Micah. Because the moment she got close to him, all the past pain would be infinitelymagnified, causing her immense heartache.

“Haha! Shannon, you're trembling, resisting, and afraid. Your body speaks more truth than your words.Don't even mention staying together. Even if you get a little closer to him, you can feel the bone-chillingpain. How can you even think about happiness?” novelbin

Micah slightly furrowed his brows, a hint of hesitation flashing through his sharp gaze. In the nextmoment, his gaze gradually became resolute. With one arm wrapped around Shannon's waist and theother hand cradling the back of her head, he suddenly deepened the kiss. Shannon slowly closed hereyes.

After kissing passionately for dozens of seconds, Shannon suddenly pushed him away and saidbreathlessly, “Let's go back to our place, to our room.”

She spoke ambiguously, and Micah cooperated by reaching out to touch her cheek, whispering softly,

“All right, let's go.”

After saying that, he scooped her up in his arms and strode toward the door. Yvette completely brokedown. She wanted to stand up and stop them. However, with even the slightest movement, excruciating pain would surge through her body.

“Micah, Shannon, you two will be cursed. You are destined to be a sinful calamity and will die withoutdescendants,” she cursed.

Hearing that, Shannon let out a sneer.

She had already lost her uterus, so she couldn't conceive children anymore. There was no need forYvette to curse her. After they left the secret chamber, Shannon's face regained its usual coldness, andshe said softly,

“Now that the play is over, can you put me down? Or do you really want to carry me to your room andtie me up?”

Micah suddenly stopped in his tracks, lowered his head to glance at her, and couldn't help but reveal abitter smile. He bent down and gently placed her on the ground.

“If this is truly a dream, I wish to never wake up. But reality is cruel, and in the end, my desires remainunfulfilled. Once the dream ends, everything turns to nothing.”

After steadying herself, Shannon looked at him coldly and said calmly, “Now that Yvette has met herdeserved fate, let's put an end to the grievances between us. From now on, we owe each other

nothing. Let's respect each other and live our own lives in peace.”

With that, she turned around and left. The next moment, Micah hurriedly reached out to hold her.

“I promise I won't disturb your life anymore. Can I just silently watch over you?” Shannon turned to lookat him, staring at him for a long while before she gently laughed.

“Micah, I no longer have a uterus, so I can't bear children for you or carry on the family line. Why doyou still want to look over me?” Micah's heart was broken by that single sentence.

She has changed. In the past, although she was an assassin, she was empathetic and understanding. But now she's like a hedgehog. Anyone who gets close to her ends up covered in scratches andwounds.

“Fine. I'll silently watch over you without needing your consent. Wherever you go, I'll follow.”

Shannon broke free from his grip and turned to walk away, saying as she left, “That's your business, not mine. From now on, you are nothing more than a stranger to me. Even if you appear before me, Iwill only treat you as if you were thin air.”

Inside Hallsbay's medical base laboratory, Bailey looked at the container in front of her and said toCameron,

“This is the cancer cell that Zain has selected to be injected into Veronique's body. The two types ofcancer cells will counteract each other, significantly weakening their vitality. You should try using thespecially formulated toxin to see if it can eliminate the cancer cells.”

A hint of approval flashed in Cameron's eyes.

“A few years ago, Zain was nothing but an impulsive young man. I never expected him to progress atsuch an astonishing speed in just a couple of years. He's truly a medical prodigy. You must train himfurther.”

Bailey gave him a cold glance and asked, “Have you decided on which toxin to use? As long as it cancompletely kill the cancer cells, there won't be any chance of recurrence in the future. The rest is up toyou.”

Hearing that, Cameron touched his nose, fell silent for a moment, and then cautiously said, “I can thinkof a few toxins, but can your friend's body handle them? I'm afraid that once I administer the toxin, shemight die instantly.”

Bailey glared at him fiercely and sneered.

“Don't worry, Mr. Yablon. She won't be lonely since you'll be accompanying her to the grave.”

Cameron couldn't help but roll his eyes after hearing that.

This vicious woman!

“Leave now. I'll prepare the toxin first and give it a try.”

Bailey walked toward the entrance and said, “All right, thank you for your help. Much appreciated.”

“Remember the promise you made to me, or else... Once this toxin enters your friend's body, she won't

survive without my antidote.”

Bailey gritted her teeth and uttered slowly, “All right. You're my lackey now.”

Just as she stepped out of the laboratory, her phone in her pocket started ringing. Upon checking, itwas a call from Artemis. She quickly swiped the answer button and anxiously asked, “Artemis, are youokay?”

Artemis laughed and replied,

“Why? Are you hoping for something to happen to me so you can remarry?”

Bailey couldn't help but retort, “You haven't even married me yet. Even if I ran off with another man, itwouldn't count as remarrying.”

“From the tone of your voice, you sound like you're eager to marry me.”

“That's right. Just a couple of days ago, I told my brother not to act all high and mighty as an elderbrother-in-law. If you go to the Shurmer residence to propose, he must agree without hesitation.”

A soft chuckle came through the phone.

“Now I'm a little worried about my daughter. What if, when she grows up, some boy lures her away? Will she also turn her back on us like this?” Bailey chuckled softly.

“They say that a mother-in-law can accurately judge a son-in-law at first sight. If you're not satisfied, just break his legs with a stick.”

What a wonderful future!

Artemis fell into silence. After a long while, he finally piped up, “Bailey, take good care of yourself. Imight not be able to return that soon.”

The smile on Bailey's face stiffened, and she frowned as she asked, “Didn't you say you'd come backafter taking care of the headquarters' matters, and then we'd deal with Mr. Doyle together?”

“Something unexpected came up, and we must deal with Mr. Doyle first. Otherwise, it'll be difficult oncehe joins forces with Sofie and Philip. If you're really worried about me, I can send someone to Hallsbayto bring you to Tarragon Headquarters.”

Artemis cleverly used reverse psychology. Bailey pursed her lips and said with a strained voice, “But Ican't leave now. With Edmund, Veronique, and Raiden's father here, I can't afford to leave them for thetime being.”
