Chapter 727

He was slightly tempted after being provoked. Now that the toxin had entered his body, he wouldn't livemuch longer. Should he really tell Bailey and then drag her along to face death together? He felt it wasimpossible to find the antidote.

The Yablon family had been researching generation after generation but hadn't made much progress.

Maerlus had also researched this but died from the toxin. This poison was a curse. Anyone who gotpoisoned would meet an unfortunate end.

Countless people died from this poison. No one had ever survived it. Otherwise, people's expressionswouldn't change drastically upon hearing about Soul Reaper.

“Artemis, you hesitated. You were tempted. If I were you, I would stay far away from Bailey, and it'sbest to create some misunderstandings to make her give up completely. Then, find a secluded place toawait your death slowly. Don't make her suffer with you.”

Artemis suddenly closed his eyes. His fingers gripping the phone were trembling slightly.

“Mr. Yablon, you're really good at manipulating people. I'm truly impressed. However, this is mypersonal matter, and it's none of your business. Since you advised me not to tell Bailey, I assume youcan keep this a secret, right?” Cameron smiled faintly.

“Of course, as long as you don't say anything, I guarantee that Bailey won't find out about this matter.I'm not trying to throw a wet blanket. You can only wait for your death after getting poisoned by SoulReaper. Since Sofie and the others dared to use this poison, they must have been certain that there isno antidote. Those who were poisoned would almost certainly die.”

Artemis remained silent and hung up the call.

Beep!

His phone rang, and as he glanced down, he saw it was a call from Bailey. She was most likelyinquiring about Shannon's situation. He turned towards Holden and gestured for him to come over. Then, he handed Holden the phone. novelbin

“You should answer the call. Just say that I'm dealing with important matters, and it's not convenient forme. If she asks about it, tell her the truth about everything except about me getting poisoned.”

“All right.”

Holden took the phone and walked to the other side to take the call.

Artemis turned to look at Micah and asked, “What are your plans for the future? It seems like your heartis no longer with Tarragon. Once she leaves, I guess you won't have the ambition to become aninternational hero anymore, right?”

Micah couldn't help but laugh.

“You really know me well. That's right. All I want now is to protect her silently. Even if she never forgivesme, and there's no other way, I still don't want to give up.”

“Go ahead and do what you want to do, but I won't allow you to leave the organization. You can have

your own private life, but when Tarragon needs you, you must return immediately.”

“All right, I won't leave. Just give me some personal space to watch over her. There's still a long futureahead of us, and I hope time can heal everything, allowing her to let go of the past and accept me onceagain.”

“Live each day with this hope, then. As long as you guys are alive, there's still hope.”

Yeah. As long as we are alive, there is still hope. However, I don't know if I still have this with Bailey.

Meanwhile, inside the Hallsbay's medical base ward, Veronique leaned against the headboard as shereached out and held Bailey's wrist.

She said weakly, “I know the condition proposed by Mr. Yablon. Bay, please don't accept it. I don't wantyou to ruin your happiness to save me.”

Bailey reached out and embraced her.

“Don't get agitated. I won't agree to his demands. Vero, if anything happens to you because of myselfishness, I'll die alongside you.”

Veronique slowly reached out her hand and smacked Bailey's forehead.

“Get rid of this thought, Bailey. You're not my parents, so why put your life in danger for me? I can onlyleave my life to fate. I have cancer, and there's no doubt that I will die. Using toxins for treatment isalready an act against natural laws, and now that it isn't working, it is my fate. I can't blame anyone forit.”

Bailey couldn't help but smile bitterly. She understood the rationale but couldn't get over the hurdle inher heart. If all else failed, she could tie up Cameron, hypnotize him, and force him to concoct the toxin.

She couldn't just stand by and watch Veronique slowly approach her death.

“All right. We have done our best. If we still can't save your life, I'll accept it. However, we haven'treached the end yet. Don't give up. There's always hope.”

“Okay.”

Beep!

The phone on the bedside table rang. Bailey leaned over and saw that it was a call from Zain.

“Excuse me. I need to take this call.”

“Okay.” Bailey took out the phone and left the ward. She leaned against the wall and swiped theanswer button.

“What's wrong? Is Mr. Fletcher's situation really bad?”

“Yes, it's slightly tricky. The bizarre thing is, they've invited a hypnotist, who claims to be Ethereal'ssenior.”

Ethereal's senior?

Bailey raised her eyebrows. How did she not know she had a senior?

“Let's not talk about that for now. Tell me about Mr. Fletcher's condition.”

She was only concerned about this matter because of Raiden. Otherwise, considering the foolishthings Tamara and Scarlett have done, she wouldn't care if any of the Fletcher family members fell ill.

“He has been under too much pressure, causing severe damage to his bodily functions. Taking a yearof break or so to recuperate would improve his condition, but he's unwilling to do it. He can't afford torelax with the responsibility of a nation on his shoulders.”

Bailey furrowed her brows.

“So you're saying I have to step in and help him relieve the pressure? How about that hypnotist whoclaims to be my senior? Can her hypnosis solve the problem fundamentally?”

Zain couldn't help but chuckle.

“Do you really think everyone can learn the dream-tailoring skill? That skill has been lost for a longtime. However, she must have some connection with your master, or she wouldn't even know about itslightly. However, curing Mr. Fletcher with her superficial knowledge is simply a pipe dream, so youshould come to Dellmoor.”

Bailey paused for a moment, calculated Edmund's medication schedule, and stated calmly, “I'll go toDellmoor in five days. You first stabilize his condition and then help me thoroughly investigate who thatso-called senior is. I want to know her identity and background.”

“All right.” Just as she ended the call, she saw Zeke walking over from a distance.

“Bay, I've found the information you asked me to look into. Cameron went to Gruidae Mortuary and sawyour foster father's body. Moreover, he ordered someone to switch the bodies, which led to yourfather's remains being cremated without the consent of his family.”

Bailey suddenly looked up and narrowed her eyes.

“Zeke, why do you think he went to see Clarence's corpse and even cremated the remains beforeleaving? Did he find something?” Zeke shook his head and sighed.

“I've heard that he is unpredictable and doesn't play according to the rules. Perhaps he's just bored?”

“No way, Cameron may seem unrestrained and carefree, but in reality, he's meticulous and cunning.I've been going at it with him for a while now and haven't gained the slightest benefit. Zeke, I have abad feeling that something has happened to Artemis. Even though my thoughts might be slightly far-fetched, I love him, so I could feel it strongly. No, I need to hypnotize Cameron to obtain informationfrom him.”
