Chapter 698

Simon frowned in response.

There's no way she's going to listen to me. Based on the familial hierarchy, I should be taking ordersfrom her instead!

“Artemis, can you hurry? Bailey is too intimidating. There's no way she'll obey me.” novelbin

Artemis replied in a deep voice, “I don't care. Just keep her in line. I'll need at least half an hour before Ireach the western suburbs. Anyway, hand Bailey the phone.”

When Simon turned to look at Bailey and saw her head tilted out the window, he brazenly suggested,“Artemis, I'm putting you on speaker. Bailey will be able to hear you, so you can go ahead and speak. Idon't think I can get her to answer the phone now.”

Getting straight to the point, Artemis asserted, “Bailey, if you dare mess around and hurt yourself again,I'm going to stab myself repeatedly.”

Turning around abruptly, Bailey narrowed her gaze at the phone in Simon's hand.

That *sshole is giving me no choice.

Nevertheless, she didn't dare take his words lightly, for he was capable of anything when consumed byrage.

“How am I going to cause trouble when I can't even lift my hands? You had better stop wasting timeover there and hurry over here. My guess is that Sofie is long gone. She leaked her location to lure you

there when in reality, she has already arrived at the harbor in the western suburbs.”

“I know. Raiden called me just now and told me to head there to support you. Before I arrive, please sittight and don't act hastily. Even if Sofie slips through your hands, don't risk pursuing her, do youunderstand?”

Bailey pouted in response. “Fine. How can I ignore such an extreme threat from you? Hurry up now. I'llbe waiting for you here.”

“Got it.”

Once the call ended, Simon probed, “B-Bailey, this road leads to the western suburbs. Artemis willdefinitely pass by on his way there. Why don't we wait for him here and head there once he joins us?”

Simon wasn't a fool. If he were to send her to the western suburbs now, he would definitely lose controlof her.

Therefore, keeping her where they were was a much safer choice.

By staying away from the danger zone, the chances of her getting hurt were close to zero.

As if she could read his mind, Bailey couldn't help but snigger. “Despite my weakened condition, I'm stillmore than capable of taking you out. Do you want to challenge me?”

The words sent a chill down Simon's spine.

If he were to be knocked out and allowed her to travel to the western suburbs alone, the consequencesawaiting him would be even direr.

“No, no, no, I was just kidding, Bailey. I'll send you to the harbor right away.”

Meanwhile, at the boarding terminal of the harbor, Sofie scanned her surroundings before askingsolemnly, “Have you made sure that everything will go according to plan?”

“Don't worry, madam. We have painstakingly secured this exit, and the place is crawling with our men.Once you and Ms. Shurmer board the ship, we'll set sail immediately.”

Sofie nodded before asking again, “What about when we're at sea? If they were to pursue us on a ship, what are we going to do? Don't tell me that isn't possible. Considering who Artemis and Zeke are, they're more than capable of catching up in no time.”

“Don't worry. Mr. Hoffman has planned for this contingency. That's why he has ordered us to destroythe harbor's navigation system. No other ship other than ours can leave within the hour.”

Sofie's concerns were eased after she heard his explanation.

In that case, I can leave without having to worry.

“Let's board the ship and set sail.”

“Right away.”

Standing on the deck, Zoey narrowed her eyes as she stared at the bright lights of the city in the

distance.

She had to flee her home and wander aimlessly all because of Bailey.

Nonetheless, the fact that fate had given her an opportunity to escape meant that her time hadn't yetcome.

As long as there was still breath in her, she would never allow Bailey to have any peace.

Having failed to make the man she wanted her own, she wasn't going to let Bailey have him. Thus, shewould do everything in her power to break them up and keep them separated for life.

“It's windy outside. Why don't you come in?” Sofie's voice rang out from behind her.

Zoey turned around abruptly and asked in a concerned tone, “Mom, what are we going to do from nowon? Are we just going to leave Hallsbay just like that? Are you planning to stay away and let them goscot-free?”

Sofie responded with a snigger.

If she had really wanted to give up, she wouldn't have spent all that effort to rescue Zoey.

All this while, she would never save someone of no use to her, and her daughter was no exception.

“Don't fret. I have more plans after this. One day, I'll definitely give you the opportunity to serve yourvengeance.”

“All right.”

Ten minutes later, Bailey arrived at the harbor.

Even though she knew that she would likely arrive too late to make a difference, she was stilldisappointed to have missed Sofie and Zoey.

After all, the consequences of letting her enemies escape weren't lost upon her.

Although Sofie has expended significant resources in the previous battles, there's no way she has usedup all her assets. Previously, she goaded Yvette into going all in just so that she could conserve herown resources. Therefore, allowing Sofie to escape is the equivalent of giving her the opportunity torecover. It won't take long for her to stir up trouble again.

“Were they all gone by the time you arrived?” Bailey asked a black-clad man by her side as she walkedin the direction of the harbor.

The man nodded in response. “That's right. We rushed here upon receiving Mr. Raiden's orders butwere still one step too late. By the time I arrived, the ship had set sail with their men on board. All thatwas left was an empty harbor and the bodies of our dead comrades.”

Bailey continued with her questions. “There's more than one ship here. Why didn't you pursue themjust now?”

The man answered awkwardly, “The harbor's navigation system was wrecked, so none of the otherships could leave. We weren't able to repair it due to our lack of expertise. Since you're the best hacker

in the world, Spook, why don't you try fixing it?”

Me? Even if I can fix it, it would still take at least half an hour. Sofie would still be long gone by then.

As the group walked onto the deck, Bailey took a pair of binoculars from one of the bodyguards andlooked out toward the sea.

Although she could make out what seemed to be a flashing light, it was too far away to really becertain.

“If we set off now, we might still be able to catch them. But how are we going to do that without a ship?”

While speaking, her gaze fell upon the crashing waves beneath the deck.

The look on her face caused Simon's heart to sink.

Don't tell me she's going to swim after it? F*ck, this is worse than committing suicide.

He reached out to grab Bailey's arm by reflex and tried to dissuade her in a trembling tone. “B-Bailey,you had better not kill yourself by jumping in.”
