Chapter 671

Holden's pupils constricted at once.

Edmund's right leg was now a mass of bleeding flesh. There was barely anything left under histrousers.

During the crucial moment of danger, Edmund had attempted to kick the grenade underneath his feetaway, but it exploded in the air.

To do so, he had to sacrifice his right leg.

Although Artemis was far away from him, he could see the disastrous scene when the smoke fadedaway.

He was heartbroken at the sight of it.

Edmund is the only heir of the Chivers family. If he becomes disabled, his family will be devastated.Granddad and Uncle Yoel have put much effort into raising Edmund as a qualified heir, but now...

“He's still alive, but he's not doing well. He needs to be rushed to the hospital immediately.”

Seeing Sylvester and his subordinates from Tarragon opening a path, Artemis shouted coldly at him,“Sylvester, kill every single one of them.”

“Got it.”

Meanwhile, in the suburbs, Raiden and Zeke split up and searched the area within a radius of two

kilometers from the mansion with some men.

Then, they gathered at the entrance of Sofie's private mansion.

Seeing the other party return empty-handed, they had no choice but to accept that Sofie had escaped.

“We were too late. Someone must have come for her and helped her leave the mansion after shesneaked out from the hidden passage.”

Raiden nodded. “She sure is a cunning woman. No wonder she could pull a trick right under Bailey'sand Artemis' noses and completely fool us all. Her schemes and tricks are truly terrifying. If we don'tget rid of her, I'm afraid Bailey will face something worse later on. I will inform the navy, the army, andthe air force so that they tighten the security and don't let that woman sneak out of Hallsbay. As long asshe is still here, I will find her even if I have to turn over every stone in the world with the Shurmer andLuther families' help.”

Inclining his head, Zeke said, “Thank you so much. Since our mission here has failed, I won't stay longas I still have to rush back to the outskirts to back Artemis and the rest up. Although Bay is confident inherself, such a battle still has its risks. I can only rest assured after seeing them safe and sound.”

“All right. Go ahead. I won't go with you as I have to contact the immigration department and ask themto tighten the security.”

After receiving Holden's message, Dwayne invaded the secret base, eliminated the traitors, andsuccessfully rescued Micah and the rest.

During the fight, Wendy got shot when trying to protect Sebastian. The bullet penetrated her abdomen, and her life was at stake.

Ivy and Shannon were filled with anxiety. After spending time together, they now saw Wendy as part ofthe Lewitt family. Seeing that Wendy was on the brink of death, the mother and daughter were utterlyterrified.

Wendy, who was relatively calm, extended her arm to grab Ivy's hand tightly. Parting her lips withdifficulty, she stammered, “If anything bad happens to me, please take care of Sebastian for me. Nomatter what grudges the Lewitt family holds against me, the child is still innocent and is a descendantof the Lewitt family. You mustn't let him fall into the Hoffman family's hands. Otherwise, he will sufferterribly.”

With tears rolling down her cheeks, Ivy choked out, “What are you talking about? You didn't hurt yourheart and your head, so you'll be fine. Hold on a little longer. We are safe now and are on the way tothe medical base. Wendy, I know Holden lied to you, stole your family's confidential information, gotyou kicked out of the family, and made you homeless. That brat owes you an explanation. You can'tjust die like this.”

Shannon hurriedly nodded in agreement. “Wendy, Mom is right. At least you must find out whetherHolden loves you. If you don't figure that out, won't your whole life be in vain?”

A faint grin appeared on Wendy's face as she slowly closed her eyes.

None of these matters anymore.

She and Holden had spent great times together, which was the best part of her life.

Whether he was sincere or faking it, she didn't want to pursue the matter and only wanted to spend herlast moments reminiscing those beautiful memories.

“Mr. Derning, please tell Holden that Wendy probably can't hold on any longer and ask him to hurryover.” novelbin

Those words had barely left her mouth when Dwayne's phone rang.

Lowering his eyes, he saw it was Holden calling.

“Speak of the devil.”

After the call was connected, Holden asked before Dwayne could speak, “Have you rescued them? Isanyone injured?”

In a deep voice, Dwayne muttered, “Your wife got shot in the abdomen to save your son, and she'sbleeding profusely. We are rushing to the medical base now, but we don't know if she can make it.”

“Send me the location. I'll head over now.”

Dwayne was taken aback. “Is the battle on the outskirts over?”

“Yes.”

Snatching the phone from Dwayne's hand, Micah asked, “What about Yvette? Is she alive?”

Holden didn't answer him and hung up immediately.

Less than five minutes after Dwayne sent their location, Holden rushed over in his car.

His eyes narrowed as he watched the woman on the brink of death lying in the car seat.

He hadn't taken the pill which could restore his memories, but he felt his heart clench in pain at thesight of the lifeless woman.

He whispered in her ears, “Stay alive, and I will tell you if I love you.”

No response came from Wendy, whose breathing became weaker.

Holden added, “If you die, I will take Sebastian back to the Hoffman family so you won't be able to findpeace after your death.”

Finally, Wendy responded.

Her eyelids began to twitch as she gradually opened her eyes. “Damn it, Holden. You sure are a jerk.”

Chuckling softly, Holden reached out to brush her head. “Hold on a little longer. We're almost there.”

In a ward at the medical base, Bailey started regaining consciousness.

The bloody scene before she passed out earlier flashed in her mind after she opened her eyes.

“Edmund... Edmund...”

She struggled to sit up but felt weak all over, tingling pain shooting through her bones.

She had been in the cold wind for an hour.

She fell onto the bed the second after she tried to sit up.

Victoria, who was sitting by the bed hurriedly extended her arm to grab Bailey. “Bay, don't move. You'restill weak.”

Upon hearing those words, Bailey asked anxiously, “Vicky, where's Edmund? How is he? Now that I'mback, is he back too? What about Artemis? Why are you here taking care of me? Where did he go?”

As she spoke, tears rolled down from the corners of her eyes.

Artemis must have gone to clean up the mess. He's certainly not taking care of Edmund's body. No, itcan't be!
