Chapter 669

On second thought, she figured it was more prudent to take Bailey's life earlier in order to prevent acounterattack by her.

As Artemis walked up to Bailey, he gave Holden a look from the corner of his eye, signaling him towatch Yvette so that she wouldn't escape.

Perpetually battle-ready, Holden tightened his grip on the weapon in his jacket at Artemis' cue. novelbin

Artemis drew a dagger from his waist before lunging at Bailey like a phantom.

The sight of flashing metal brought an insidious smile to Yvette's face, but the splatter of blood she wasexpecting didn't materialize.

All she saw was Artemis swirling his dagger around Bailey before the ropes that bound her fell to theground.

Before she knew it, he had grabbed Bailey and rolled behind a wooden pillar together with her.

The very next second, gunshots began to ring out, causing Yvette to be stunned.

“Your Royal Highness, we've been had—”

Before her bodyguard could finish his report, Holden had put a bullet right through his throat.

The instant he was cut off, blood from his neck spewed all over Yvette's face.

With her visibility obscured by the warm liquid, she attempted to dive for cover. Unfortunately, her slowreaction allowed Holden to swiftly capture her.

“Don't move! If any of you take a single step forward, I'll blow her brains out.”

Just as everyone at the scene realized what was going on, they whipped out their weapons in anattempt to kill Holden.

However, the fact that he was holding Yvette hostage left all of them at a loss.

What should we do?

“D-Don't move! No one move a muscle!”

Yvette was totally cowed by the blade at her throat. She had no desire to die at all.

Instead of being angry at the betrayal or the fact that she had been tricked, she was consumed by fear.

Upon hearing her instructions, her bodyguards didn't dare make any hasty moves.

Sneering in response, Holden barked, “Order them to open a path for us to leave. Otherwise, yourthroat will be the next thing that's going to be cut open.”

Yvette quickly deliberated on the situation.

Her men were crawling all over the place with ambushes set up within a wide perimeter. She was

confident that her enemies would fail to escape.

Artemis... Oh, Artemis... How dare you make a fool of me! Since you pretended to have lost yourmemory, I now have no reason to hold back. Once I get my hands on the lot of you, I'm going tounleash a whole gang of men on Bailey. I want you to see with your own eyes how the love of your lifeis ravaged to death.

“I will allow you to leave, but you must let me go before you get into the car. Otherwise, I don't minddragging all of you down to my grave with me. Since I'm going to meet a terrible end in your hands, Imight as well see you lot in hell together.”

Holden sniggered in his mind.

She still believes that she has everything under control. Does she really expect us to be captured bythe men hiding in ambush? What a joke.

“Fine. You have my word. I'll release you once we're in the car.”

Ignoring him, Yvette yelled out her orders. “Listen up, everyone. I'm letting them go, and they promisedto do the same for me once they get into their car. If they go back on their words, fire at the car witheverything you got. There's no need to hesitate out of concern for my life. I want them to die with me.Do you understand?”

Given that all of them were suicide attackers, they would obey her unconditionally.

They had no reservations in carrying out her orders to the letter.

“Understood.”

Holding Yvette at knifepoint, Holden exchanged glances with Artemis.

The latter quickly took off Bailey's clothes, leaving only her shirt on.

Thereafter, he threw his jacket around her to make sure that she was bundled up snugly.

Just as he was prepared to carry her, Bailey spoke abruptly. “Edmund is still in the warehouse. Wecan't just leave like that. He'll die if we go without him.”

No sooner had the words rolled off her tongue than a cry of agony was heard.

Edmund—free of his restraints—charged out of the building.

Just as the surrounding men raised their guns at him to pepper his body with bullets, Holden barked,“I'll kill the girl if any of you make a move!”

With that, he made a slit on Yvette's throat.

The excruciating pain that resulted sent a shiver down her spine, leaving nothing but fear in her eyes.

As if she was staring Death in the eyes, she yelled, “Who gave you permission to move? Stand downat once!”

Once Edmund joined Artemis and the others, forming a triangle, they gradually backpedaled their wayto the car.

Bailey, resting in Artemis' embrace, whispered into his ear, “Even though most of the people lying inambush have been taken care of, there are still quite a few of them out there. Will we be able to survivethe impending assault?”

Artemis didn't reply. His lips were pursed while a murderous aura swelled within him.

The thoughts that were flowing through his mind were entirely different from Bailey's concerns.

All he wanted to do now was kill everyone on site, leaving no one alive.

If he were to swallow his pride and flee after his woman was so badly tortured, there was no point inhim being a man. He might as well get a sex change operation.

Reading his mind, Bailey sighed to herself.

She knew that the events of the day were the equivalent of stabbing him in the heart.

Even though she didn't blame him, he would still torment himself over it.

From his perspective, everything that she suffered was his fault. He would consequently punish himselfwith equal intensity.

“Ar—”

Just as she was about to speak, someone cried out, “We have orders to kill Bailey and Artemis. They'renot allowed to leave this place alive!”

“Damn it,” Holden cursed. “Some of these men belong to Sofie. Looks like bloodshed is inevitable.”With that, he yelled at Yvette, “What are you spacing out for, you fool? Order your men to stop thechaos. Otherwise, you'll absolutely be the first to die! Besides, do you really think Sofie has your bestinterest at heart? The fact that she has moles embedded among your men means she's going to killyou after using you to kill Bailey.”

Yvette was no fool. She didn't need to think twice about Holden's words.

“How dare that old b*tch set me up? What are you standing there for? Eliminate all those who disobeymy orders!”

The very next second, a hail of bullets flew in every direction, while spent casings fell onto the groundlike rain.

“Don't let them escape. Use your grenades, hurry!”

Artemis' and his companions' expressions darkened.

“Leave with Bailey now! I'll cover your rear,” Edmund cried out frantically.

However, Bailey grabbed his hand by reflex as she was overtaken by a sense of dread.

“Don't go. I know you will sacrifice your life for me. The more the reason I can't let you.”

Flashing a smile at her, Edmund pried open her fingers one by one. “Desperate circumstances call fordesperate measures. Live well, Bailey.”
