How could he do this? I'm his sister. Even if I did something wrong, shouldn't he try to protect me as mybrother? How can he just watch as I get into trouble?
“Get out of the way! Let me go back to Dellmoor. I've been out for a while, and my mother is worried,”Scarlett said.
“Sorry, Ms. Fletcher. You can't go anywhere at the moment. Please return to your room.”
Scarlett was dumbfounded.
She tried to rush past them, but they held her back by the shoulders.
“Take her back to her room and keep an eye on her. Without Mr. Raiden's orders, she mustn't step outof the hotel.”
“Yes, sir.”
Scarlett completely panicked.
It's obvious from this that Raiden has abandoned me. How could he be so heartless to his ownbiological sister? Does he really want to watch me be executed?
In a private mansion, Sofie was calmly trimming a pine tree with scissors while Zoey was anxiouslypacing in the living room.
“Mom, what if the spies leave any traces? What if Scarlett rats me out when she gets caught? Can you
stop trimming that stupid tree and help me think of a way out? I'm really worried that if I get exposed,my fate will be very, very miserable!”
Sofie continued to trim the branches leisurely and said lightly, “You're finally anxious now? Why didn'tyou use your brain before taking action? If Bailey dies now, what benefit does it bring to you or ourplan?”
Zoey stomped her foot fiercely. “I already apologized for that! Can you stop scolding me and tell mehow to clean up the mess?”
“There's no need to clean up anything. By the time Bailey finds evidence that Scarlett caused the caraccident, there will be news over at the Tarragon headquarters. By then, you just need to go to theheadquarters and marry Artemis. What storm can Bailey stir up then?”
“Has there been any news from Tarragon headquarters? Did Yvette succeed? Has Artemis lost hismemory?”
Sofie put away her scissors and gave Zoey a cold stare. Frowning, she said, “Do you reckon it's acakewalk? Do you think we can just talk our way through it and achieve success?”
Zoey was at a loss for words and didn't want to inquire any further, but the thought of Yvette weighedheavily on her mind.
“Mom, do you think Yvette will seize the opportunity and tie the knot with Artemis right away at theTarragon headquarters?”
Sofie's gaze turned even icier. “Do I look stupid to you? Would I help someone else with theirmarriage?”
“No, no. I don't mean that. I just...”
“Stop worrying. At least you're using your brain. I have people at the Tarragon headquarters. OnceYvette succeeds, she'll be taken care of, leaving ample opportunities for you.”
Zoey felt overjoyed. Becoming the head of Tarragon wasn't her priority; her ultimate goal was to be thematriarch of the Luther family.
She was determined to thwart whatever Bailey hoped for and make sure she lost it all.
Later that day, Felicity narrowly avoided danger, and her vital signs returned to normal.
The Luther and Chivers families felt a great sense of relief when they heard that.
Even though there was a chance she could become a vegetable, there was still hope for her as long asshe was alive.
Bailey learned from Zeke that Scarlett had been planning to run away but was stopped by Raiden andordered not to leave the hotel.
Upon receiving this news, Bailey fell silent.
Raiden, oh Raiden, do you really care about me so much that you can ignore your own sister's fate formy sake?
“He's using this method to show his stance and tell me that if it is confirmed that Scarlett caused thecar accident that led to those numerous deaths and injuries, he will not tolerate it and side with her.”
Zeke patted her shoulder and sighed. “He's someone who knows how to separate their personal lifefrom their public life. He just wants to give those who died an explanation. Don't think too much aboutit. I'm actually gathering some evidence right now. Once I have everything I need, we'll have this wholething figured out.”
“Okay.”
“Bailey, bad news! People from the Department of Justice are here and want to invite you to the policestation.”
Zayron's shouts came from outside.
Bailey was taken aback and turned to look at Zeke, asking in a daze, “I've been staying in the hospitalfor the past two days and not causing any trouble. Why are they coming to arrest me again?” novelbin
Zeke rubbed his forehead and sighed, “No wonder Artemis said you are a troublemaker and asked meto watch you closely. It turned out to be true. After he comes back, he should marry you quickly andstop you from causing trouble for me.”
Bailey rolled her eyes and muttered, “Call me a troublemaker? Fine. When he comes back, he can doall the household chores.”
Zeke smiled and shook his head. “If I'm not mistaken, the inquiry into your foundation should have
yielded some results by now, and they are probably not very favorable. After all, you have offended theWest family and even ruined their only daughter.”
Bailey's face fell. “I've been out of it for the past few days and forgot about that. Since the Departmentof Justice has sent people here, let's go and check it out together.”
Zeke shook his head and disagreed. “Don't go out. Let me deal with it. Felicity's condition is notparticularly stable yet, and you can't go to the station with them.”
Bailey was about to object, but Edmund's voice came from outside. “Yes, I agree with Zeke. Don't goout.”
