Chapter 565

Yvette's eyes lit up.

A memory loss pill, huh? She's right. I'll have to give Artemis one sooner or later anyway. There's noother way to remove Bailey from his life. As long as he remembers her, I'll never stand a chance. Andwhen he loses his memories, I'll get him to deal with the Saviors and watch him kill Bailey. What a cruelbut splendid idea!

At the thought of this, she clenched her teeth. “Is there really a drug that can erase one's memories?Would he really be able to forget everything about the person he loves?”

Sofie arched her brow and smirked. “Holden Lewitt was once deeply in love with the eldest daughter ofthe Hoffman family. He was even prepared to betray Tarragon for her, but Mr. Doyle drugged him withthe same memory loss pill. Now, he doesn't even remember that Wendy Hoffman exists. Don'tunderestimate Tarragon's scientists, young lady. Not only is the memory loss pill they inventedextremely potent, but there's also no cure for it. So cast your worries aside, ask Mr. Doyle for the drug, and make good use of this opportunity. This is your last chance to shine again.”

Yvette balled her hands into fists. “Okay. I'll do it.”

...

Back at the Xuereb residence, Justin stood next to the bed and gazed at his dying mother, his eyes fullof grief.

Olivia wasn't just throwing a fit, nor was she merely trying to scare him. She was truly prepared tostarve herself to death if he refused to give in to her wishes.

She intended to break Justin and Veronique up through her death.

In truth, she didn't have to go such lengths since Veronique wasn't going to live much longer anyway. The latter's chances of recovery were far too slim, and everyone knew that. They'd be lying tothemselves if they said she'd get better.

No one would get in Olivia's way once Veronique was gone, so she really didn't have to risk her ownlife just to pull them apart.

“Must you really make me marry Scarlett? Are you going to insist even if it means I'd be living the restof my life in misery?” asked Justin.

Olivia didn't answer. She couldn't speak in her current state anyway.

At that very moment, Ambrose returned from his walk and began to strike Justin with his cane.

Despite his old age, he still had a lot of strength in him.

The younger man's face paled after a few hits.

“You brat! It's fine if you don't care about your uncle, but do you not feel guilty seeing your own motherlike this?” Ambrose yelled.

Justin remained silent.

“Your mother gave you her all! She kept you as her only child and spared no love, but what have youdone in return? You put her through hell—all because of a woman she doesn't like!” the old mancontinued. “Are you really going to watch your mother starve herself in bed?”

Justin took a deep breath before turning to leave the room.

“Give me half a day to think about this. I'll be sure to give you guys an answer you'd be happy with. Please, Granddad, tell her to eat.”

He drove to Luther Group after walking out of the Xuereb residence.

Inside the CEO's office, Artemis grabbed two bottles of liquor and tossed them to Justin. “I can keepyou company, but I won't drink. Bay hasn't fully recovered, so I can't afford to let alcohol take over me. Idon't want to hurt her.”

With a dry laugh, Justin opened up a bottle and began to chug it down.

There was no way he could drink the liquor like that, and as expected, he started coughing violentlyafter a couple of sips.

“Veronique came looking for Bailey and asked her to handle her divorce procedures with you on herbehalf,” Artemis commented. “What do you have to say about that?” novelbin

What do I have to say about that? I just want to drink all my worries away now.

Justin gulped down more liquor, and he soon fell into a daze.

Artemis continued, “Honestly, it's not that hard to make a choice. You can leave Veronique and marryScarlett Fletcher. Or, you can watch your mom starve herself to death, and when Veronique's time is uptoo, you and her can go ask your mom for forgiveness in the afterlife.”

Justin stared at him in shock. “And what about Zephyr? What would he do? He'd be all alone in thisworld.”

Artemis shrugged. “I wouldn't consider the child if I were you. To put me in your shoes, if anything wereto happen to Bay, I'd go wherever she goes. Kids will always have a way to survive.”

This might sound selfish, especially coming from a father.

Even so, he was the type who would give everything up for the woman he loved.

Something seemed to click within Justin after he had heard that. The crease between his browsdisappeared, and he seemed much more alert now.

In spite of all the booze he had drank, he now felt soberer compared to the time before he had arrived.

“Have you figured it out? If you have, start acting. We can't please everyone, but you should have aclear conscience. Giving in to your mother's wishes means betraying the woman you love. You don'tdeserve love if you do that.”

Upon hearing that, Justin got off the couch and strode toward the door.

“Thanks. I know what to do now.”

...

As anticipated, Dellmoor had indeed sent a representative to look into the charity's embezzlementcase.

To be more precise, they had come to investigate Bailey.
