Chapter 539

Veikko felt a headache coming as he looked at the furious branch leaders.

It would be difficult for him to turn the tables on his own now that things had turned out this way.

However, could he ask Bailey to take charge of this?

Nothing good would come of letting the Saviors' subordinates know she was in love with Tarragon'sleader.

“It might not be Tarragon who tried to assassinate me. Give me a few days to investigate this matterand see whether there is someone else behind this. As for our leader, she has an important affair, sowe shouldn't trouble her with small matters like this.”

One of the branch leaders came forward and narrowed his eyes at Veikko. He stated, “Veikko, why do Ifeel you're trying to protect Tarragon? We have always been at odds with them. Now that they havepublicly provoked us, you're advising us to smooth things over instead of retaliating. What are yourintentions?”

Veikko's gaze darkened. He understood the situation instantly. Some of the branch leaders werelistening and following this person's orders. They were here to fan the flames of conflict and sowdiscord between the two organizations. novelbin

“I'm the person in charge of the Saviors now. Since the leader is not present, I'm the next in line. As formy intentions, I don't want any conflict to arise between both organizations, which would lead totremendous losses on both sides. But what are your intentions in banding together with the otherbranch leaders to question me about my intentions?”

The branch leader's expression changed drastically as he started trembling in anger. “Veikko, don't youdare accuse me of something I didn't do! I heard you were attacked and wanted to find out whathappened. That's why I suggested going to war with Tarragon. Since you are adamant that it was notdone by Tarragon, you should disregard what I just said.”

With that, he left the lounge with the other branch leaders.

Complicated emotions swirled within Veikko as he watched them leave.

After a brief moment of silence on the couch, he took his phone from the coffee table and dialedBailey's number.

When the call connected, he asked about her condition before letting her know what had happened.

“Ms. Bailey, they are finally showing their true colors.”

“Send someone to monitor them around the clock. Then, investigate who they were in contact withrecently.”

Veikko hummed in acknowledgment before replying, “I'll find out who's causing trouble. You should restproperly at Hallsbay.”

“Oh, right. How's Caridee? Is she okay?”

Upon hearing her mention Caridee, Veikko felt his head ache.

She's a true daughter from a prominent family. She's reckless yet delicate. Nonetheless, she has mewrapped around her little finger because she saved me. She expects me to do everything for her andwould rather stay thirsty and wait for me to feed her a sip of water.

“She seems to be in a good mood and enjoys me serving her. Of course, it would be even better if youcan bring her back.”

Bailey couldn't hold back her laughter. “It seems like she has chosen you. You're rather lucky for theprincess of the Luther family to be so into you. You have struck gold!”

Veikko was rendered speechless.

Meanwhile, Justin was standing in the rain outside the intricately-carved door of the Revelle residence.

Bill was holding an umbrella, standing at the entrance. He stared at Justin and stated coldly, “You cango. I'll not let you and Vero meet. I've already investigated what happened with the Xuereb family halfan hour ago. Your uncle has been dismissed from his post and is under investigation forembezzlement. He needs someone to bail him out. Besides begging the Fletcher family to help you,you have no other choice. You should know better than me what will happen if you meet the Fletcherfamily.”

Justin pursed his lips. The rain fell onto his face, turning his facial features into an indistinct blob.

Although Bill's words were harsh, he was speaking the truth.

If he sought help from the Fletchers, they would most certainly force him to marry Scarlett. He would beback to square one.

With the situation he was in, he still tried to provoke Veronique. Bill would obviously be unwelcoming tohim.

“Mr. Revelle, Vero is my wife. I'll never hurt her. Before the annulment of my marriage, I'll never betrayher. She just had surgery and needs someone to take care of her. Can you let me in so that I can stayby her side? Then, we can talk about this matter after she's better. What do you think?”

Bill was expressionless as he uttered, “I'll only accept a live-in son-in-law. If you really love mydaughter, you will cut all ties with the Xuereb family and become a part of our family, or you will neverget to see my daughter in this lifetime again. I don't wish for her to suffer in this love triangle anylonger.”

He wants me to become a part of the Revelle family and cut all ties with the Xuereb family?

Justin's expression turned dark in hostility. Bill's requests were too heartless and difficult. No ordinaryperson would be able to fulfill them.

“I can be a live-in son-in-law. However, the Xuereb family raised me, and I'm my parents' only son, so Ican't just cut all ties with them. I'm being completely sincere. Please don't be so harsh on me.”

Bill scoffed. “All right. You don't need to break ties with the Xuereb family. However, you must notintervene in your uncle's matter. Can you do that?”
