Chapter 512

The atmosphere in the study tensed up following the loud shattering noise of the cup smashing tosmithereens.

Victor was leaning against the cupboard as he uttered nonchalantly, “What's the matter? Didn't you twoagree to the conditions? Are you going against your word? It's fine even if you do. There are only twoyears left, anyway. At most, I'll just keep waiting inside. As for today's funeral, I won't be making anappearance. You two can handle it.”

Victoria, trembling with fury, pointed at him. “H-How can you do this, Victor? How dare you break yourpromise after the Saunders family's shares and assets were transferred to you?”

In response, he sneered, “Those belong to me in the first place. I simply regained what was alwaysmine. If you two don't settle my prison issue today, I won't attend the funeral.” Do they think I'm stupid?I'll still be brought back to prison after the funeral's over. What's the point of inheriting the assets, then?Since I can't set myself free, they'll have to do it for me.

He thought he should clarify his condition just in case they didn't get the full picture. If they wanted himto attend the burial, they would have to settle the issue of releasing him from prison.

By that point, Victoria's face was covered in tears. She was utterly disappointed in her brother. “I'vebeen taking care of Dad's funeral for the past few days, which was why I didn't have time to pull somestrings and get you out of jail. Victor, I promise you with my life that after you attend the funeral, I willfind a way to set you free. What do you think?”

“I think I disagree. If I don't get what I want today, I won't make an appearance at the funeral. How

about you let the old fart stay in the house for a couple more days? Once you've taken care of myrequest, I'll happily do what you want.”

Victoria was once again engulfed in rage after she heard what Victor said, even though she had justcalmed herself down. What does he think Dad's funeral is? A joke? Is he not afraid of the heavenspunishing him for being such an unfilial son?

“Victor, you—” Originally, she wanted to say, “If you push your luck again, I'll just ignore your matterentirely and ask the prison guard to throw you back into prison right away. I'll handle Dad's funeralmyself.”

However, Lionel stopped her before she could complete her sentence. He pulled her into his embraceand said, “I'm already taking care of it. Give me three more days, and I'll make sure you won't step footinto prison again.”

Victor shrugged nonchalantly. “Fine. The old fart's funeral will also be delayed by three days, then.”

“You—”

“Aren't you afraid of getting punished by the heavens for threatening your sister and her husband withyour father's funeral? Even if the heavens ignore you, aren't you scared your father will turn into avengeful ghost and haunt you for being such a heartless b*stard?” Bailey's voice rang out in the air asshe stepped into the room.

Swiftly, Victor's expression darkened as he spat, “This is our family business. It has nothing to do withan outsider like you. Get the h*ll out of here.”

She clicked her tongue and looked around before raising her voice. “I know your soul hasn't returned tothe cycle of reincarnation yet, Mr. Saunders. Don't you think it's time to show yourself and punish yourunfilial son?”

Victor jolted in fright and surveyed his surroundings, panicking. ”Q-Quit saying nonsense like that! I-Idon't believe in ghosts or supernatural stuff! Stop acting as though his ghost is here!”

“You don't believe it?” Raising her eyebrows, she chuckled. “Then why are you trembling? You shouldknow I'm Grandmaster Gadzinski's disciple. Surely you've heard of him before. If you do, you wouldknow it's a piece of cake for him to conjure the spirit of a dead person. As his disciple, I just sohappened to have learned that skill. How about I ask your father to meet with you right now so the twoof you can have a chat?”

Victor was so terrified that his legs turned to jelly, and he had to hold onto the cupboard to stabilizehimself. “Y-You're just spouting nonsense! I don't believe you can summon his spirit in broad daylight!” novelbin

With a grin, Bailey produced a charm from her pocket. “How about I give you a demonstration of myskill? I can guarantee your father will show up before you in the next second to teach you a lesson.”

His hand slipped, and he slumped to the ground. As he gazed at the charm in her hand, he pleadedwith a trembling voice, “D-Don't do it! I-I believe you. T-Tell me, w-what do you want me to do?”

While playing with the charm in her hand, she demanded casually, “I want you to welcome the guestsout there and bury your father properly. Otherwise, he'll visit you tonight and haunt you.”

Victor didn't have the guts to disobey her because he was aware of what she was capable of.

Considering she's Gadzinski's disciple, I doubt she's lying about having the ability to summon a deadman's spirit!

“Fine, fine! I'll take care of the funeral. J-Just don't summon my father's spirit!”

As Bailey watched him stumble away, she let out a sigh and lamented, “They say having a son meantsomeone will take care of you when you're old. However, if the son is this unfilial, how can one hopethey'll be taken care of when they grow old and die?”

Victoria approached Bailey and choked out, “Thank you, Bay. If it weren't for you, I really don't knowwhat to do.”
