Chapter 441

As the embroidered box was opened, a crystalline purple diamond necklace was displayed on the bigscreen.

The camera moved around the necklace, allowing everyone to admire this masterpiece that onceshocked the world from all angles.

“What an exquisite, luxurious, elegant, and sleek necklace! As expected from the best among the best.I can't take my eyes off it even after just one look!”

“Back then, Cedric and Yara were a beautiful couple who everyone envied. People named thisnecklace 'Beauty's Tear' because the last drop of tear Yara shed for Cedric before passing away fellright on this necklace and melted into its small gap. Rumor has it that whoever obtains this necklacewill get Yara's blessings. Now, this necklace has reappeared. As long as it is authentic, I'm willing topay one hundred million for it.”

“I'll pay two hundred million.”

“Three hundred million!”

“I'll take it for five hundred million.”

“Wait, I thought you guys invited the expert antique appraiser Vespera to authenticate this necklace?Ask her to come out. We only trust her. If she says it's real, I'll be willing to pay even five hundredmillion in Anglandurn currency.”

“That's right. Ask Vespera to authenticate it first.”

“We want Vespera to appraise the necklace.”

“All right, all right,” an executive of the pawnshop agreed while throwing the host a look.

The latter hurriedly announced, “Now, let us welcome the internationally-renowned antique appraiser,Vespera, to say a few words.”

The spotlights swept the stage and finally focused on a young woman who walked out from backstage.

“Hello everyone, I am Vespera.”

Hearing that, the people in the audience exchanged suspicious glances.

“Is she really Vespera?”

“I don't know. She never showed up in public and always gave directions behind the scenes during herprevious appraisals. Why is she suddenly making an appearance now? Who would know if she'sactually Vespera or not?”

“Has anyone among you ever met Vespera? Come out and tell us if that's really her.”

No one responded, which meant no one had ever seen her.

The young woman smiled and said into the microphone, “When I don't show up, you complained thatI'm big-headed. Now that I'm here, you're doubting my identity. It's really difficult to please everyone,

huh? Anyway, I guess I should just return backstage and talk to you from there. That way, you probablywon't be suspicious anymore.”

Under the stage, Bailey yawned lazily and left the venue quietly.

While they walked in the corridor, Maxton couldn't help but ask, “Mommy, weren't you interested in thatnecklace? Why did you leave? Daddy can afford five hundred million in Anglandurn currency.”

Bailey smirked and responded, “The appraiser is fake, not to mention the necklace. I'm not that stupidto purchase a piece of fake jewelry for five hundred million.”

A fake?

Maxton pursed his lips. “Are you not going to expose her?”

With a shrug, Bailey said, “What's the point in doing that? Since someone is willing to be the fool andcollect a fake piece, then I'll let them be.”

She then headed toward the elevator, but she paused in her tracks after taking a few steps.

I haven't heard any news about Beauty's Tear for years. How come it suddenly appeared in AuroPawnshop's auction tonight? Although it's a fake, there must be a reason why it was brought up. Thiscan't be a coincidence.

“Let's go back.”

Without a word, Maxton followed Bailey, who rushed back to the auction.

“This necklace is fake,” she announced loudly upon arrival, her firm voice echoing around the hugevenue.

The next second, countless gazes turned toward her.

“It's Bailey Jefferson!”

“Why is she here? Isn't she attending a banquet with Mr. Luther downstairs?”

Ignoring the crowd's discussion about her, Bailey walked up the stage. She arched her brow andquestioned, “Where is that necklace?”

The confused host asked in return, “Ms. Jefferson, what brings you here?”

“I asked you where that necklace is.”

“A gentleman snagged Beauty's Tear for five hundred million in Anglandurn currency. Our staff hastaken it backstage to pack it.”

Bailey curled her lips and uttered, “Bring that necklace out. It's a fake.”

The pawnshop's executive emerged from backstage at that moment. With a smile, he said, “Ms.Jefferson, I know you're talented in many fields, but I don't think you're well-versed in jewelryappraising. Please stop interfering with our auction.”

While playing with her nails, Bailey said, “I do know nothing about appraising, but I'm very familiar with

Beauty's Tear.”

“Ms. Jefferson, you weren't even born yet when Beauty's Tear was made. How could you be familiarwith it if you've never seen it?” With a smile, the executive pointed out. novelbin

Bailey sneered, “I have never seen it, but my mentor had. Don't forget that the necklace was given byYara to my mentor as a token of love.”

Following a short silence, the crowd began bustling. “There must be a reason why Bailey claims thenecklace is fake. Bring out the necklace and let her have a look.”

“Yes, let her take a look at it!”

“No wonder Vespera showed up out of the blue when she never did that. It turns out she's an impostortrying to deceive us!”

“Take out the necklace so Bailey can have a good look at it!”

“That's right. We trust that she's not the type to shoot her mouth off. Bring out that fake necklace, orwe'll go to the Department of Justice and sue you!”

A cold glint flashed across the pawnshop executive's eyes.

D*mn it.

He had asked a woman to pose as Vespera and sell the fake necklace at a high price. As for the actualitem, he was planning to keep it to himself.

He did not expect Bailey to suddenly show up and ruin his plan.

“Ms. Jefferson, I admit you're a capable woman, but you shouldn't make such an accusation. If thatnecklace turns out to be authentic, how will you compensate our pawnshop for its reputation?”

Bailey raised her eyebrow as her gut feeling grew stronger—the real necklace was in their hands.

If she hadn't stepped up and stirred up a ruckus, the buyer would most likely get a counterfeit while thereal thing was pocketed by someone else.

“If the necklace is real, I'll add one hundred million on top of its hammer price. I will also post anapology on Twitter and admit that I wronged Master Vespera and the pawnshop.”

“Sure,” the executive uttered through gritted teeth.

He hated Bailey to the bone.

If it weren't for her, the necklace could have been his.

Not long after, he brought over the necklace. “Ms. Jefferson, you'd better take a good look and seewhether it's authentic or not.”

A smile appeared on Bailey's face after she took the box.

She finally managed to find Beauty's Tear and fulfill Cedric's wish.

Even though she knew she would soon face endless criticism, she was fine with it.
