Chapter 436

Holden's charming face darkened, and his eyes shone coldly.

Usually, that expression on his face was enough to deter just anyone, for Holden was a man who heldsignificant sway in the international community, and a small gesture from him was enough to causeconsequential damages.

Not everyone could withstand his wrath, but Sebastian seemed unperturbed.

Scoffing disdainfully, he smirked. “Don't expect that to work on me since you've never even taken careof me before, old man. Just so you know, pulling a face won't scare me.”

Holden stared at the boy for a while and chuckled.

Young but daring. That's my son. He might be locked up here, but he is not afraid and is evenchallenging me. That's interesting. novelbin

That realization somehow made Holden not as repulsive of the idea of suddenly having a son.

In fact, if Holden were to choose an heir, Sebastian would be the perfect choice.

“Those people out there want to kill you. Are you not afraid?”

Sebastian puckered his lips in annoyance. “Why should I be afraid? It's not like they will let me go if I'mafraid. I'm not naive like a three-year-old.”

Holden looked away, and his gaze fell on Juliana.

“Hi, Holden,” she greeted with a wide smile.

Holden was silent for a brief moment before asking, “Was I really in love with your sister?”

Okay... What kind of question is this? Doesn't he know if he's in love with my sister or not?

“I lost my memory, so I can't remember anything in the past six years, including the fact that your sisterwas pregnant,” Holden explained when he read what was on Julianna's mind.

He lost his memory?

A look of surprise crossed Juliana's face.

“I see. I wondered why the man Wendy loved would have the heart to leave her without any reason.Well, to answer your question, I believe you used to love her enough to have a child with her. If youwere really just using her, you wouldn't have slept with her, let alone make her pregnant.”

Holden pondered for a while and nodded in agreement. “That makes sense. I reckon I did love her.”

Why does that sound so clinical?

Holden then looked at his son again, saying in a deep voice, “You stay here for a few days. I'll try to getyou out. Remember: don't put up a fight or make things worse for yourself. Okay?”

Sebastian pursed his lips and wanted to say something, but on second thought, he kept quiet as

Holden went out without further ado.

Juliana immediately piped up, “Holden! Wendy is a good woman. Because of you, she went against ourfather, who chased her out of the house and scrapped her name off the family. Yet, she never onceregretted everything she did for you. Even after you deserted her, she still chose to give birth toSebastian despite people pointing fingers at her. Women like her are a rare find.”

On the other side, Wendy was staring blankly into the air beside the flower bed in the Gezmondresidence's garden when Lionel walked over and patted her shoulder, speaking to her gently.

“Are you still thinking about Sebastian? Don't worry. Mr. Raymond won't do anything to him. They knowthey won't get out of Hallsbay alive if the child dies in their hands.”

Wendy moved her tight lips, replying in a broken voice, “But Mr. Raymond already knew Sebastian isHolden's son. I'm afraid that he'll hurt Sebastian to safeguard his own interest.”

Lionel shook his head. “I don't think so. Sebastian's identity as Holden's son might just protect him intimes like this. Mr. Raymond will let Sebastian go once he gets what he wants from Holden, or elseHolden might do everything he can to crush the Hoffman family, which has just recently recovered fromdefeat.”

“What if Holden doesn't do anything?” Wendy looked up at Lionel, sobbing. “Holden might dismiss thethreat and end up angering Mr. Raymond. Sebastian will be dead if that happens.”

“It won't happen. Holden already went to the resort to talk to Mr. Raymond. I believe there will be newssoon. Don't be so pessimistic.”

Wendy deflated like a balloon and slumped against the pillar weakly. “I hope things get better. I'm soscared Mr. Raymond will do something to Sebastian out of desperation.”

Just as Lionel wanted to comfort her, the phone in his hand rang.

He looked down and realized it was the detective he had dispatched to look for Victoria.

“What is it? Did you find anything?”

“Mr. Gezmond, we found out where Ms. Saunders is. She went to a women's and children's hospital inBelmonia Island for a check-up.”

Lionel suddenly got emotional when he finally had news about Victoria.

“A hospital? Why is she there? Did something happen?”

“Don't worry, Mr. Gezmond. Ms. Saunders is fine.”

“Why is she at the hospital, then? Wait. What hospital is it again?”

“Women's and children's hospital.”

Lionel's eyes widened in astonishment as a flickering hint of happiness glimmered in his eyes, butinstead of expressing his thoughts explicitly, he asked carefully, “What is the check-up about? How didit go?”
