Chapter 430

Meanwhile, in the bedroom in Shelbert Condominium, Bailey leaned against the floor-to-ceiling windowwith a glass of fruit juice in her hand. She was in a daze while watching the scenery outside thewindow.

The door to the bedroom was pushed open from the outside, and Artemis walked in. novelbin

“What's the matter? Did my mom trouble you again with her words?”

Bailey weakly leaned in his embrace, shifting all her weight to him.

The familiar mint scent on his body filled her nerves, making her feel exceptionally safe.

Perhaps she was too anxious to realize her current situation was completely different from seven yearsago.

She used to have no one to rely on. At that time, fear, insecurity, and anxiety filled her heart so muchthat it triggered her prenatal depression.

However, the situation was different now. She had Artemis and her three children by her side. Althoughshe would still feel anxious, she could at least try to keep things under control.

“Artemis, I promised your mom that I will keep this baby.”

After Artemis heard that, something flickered in his eyes, and he exerted little strength into his armsaround her waist.

“You don't have to bother about what she said. It's normal for elders to want more grandchildren, butyou've delivered three children for the Luther family. That's more than enough. Let's maintain ourprevious decision, okay? I'll come with you when you go for the abortion.”

Bailey chuckled softly when she heard that. She caressed her flat belly with her palm and laced herfingers through his.

“Artemis, don't you feel it? The baby is growing inside of me. This is the best gift from God to us. Weare in no place to abandon the baby. So why don't we accept our fate and keep the baby?”

Artemis did not say a word, but he wrapped her tightly in his arms.

He would love it if they could keep the baby.

It was his wish to see his baby slowly forming and growing inside the woman he loved and to stay byher side as they welcomed the baby into the world.

Noticing his silence, Bailey looked up at him and frowned. “Artemis, did you hear what I said?”

“Mm. I'm listening. Are you okay with keeping the baby? I don't want you to do this against your willbecause of what my mom told you.”

Bailey shot him a glare. “Did you really hear what I told you? It seems to me that you heard nothing.Otherwise, why would you say I changed my mind because of your mom?”

Reaching out to touch her delicate face, Artemis said in a hoarse voice, “I heard you, and I know what

you think, but I don't want you to fall into depression again for the baby. You've suffered long enough torecover from your pregnancy seven years ago. I don't want to see you suffering again.”

Bailey snaked her arm around his and stood on tiptoes, planting a brief kiss on his thin lips. She smiledand said, “I believe you now.”

“Hmm? Believe in what?”

“I believe you've considered the best for me before asking me to have the abortion. But then, I reallywant to keep this baby. Artemis, I'm not doing this against my will, and I won't suffer for this pregnancy. This baby will be the last. We won't have any more children after this, okay?”

Artemis' heart softened at that. He held her shoulders and spun her around, leaning closer to kiss her.

Yet, at that moment, the phone by the window bay rang.

She turned around and saw it was Veikko calling her.

“Let me answer it. Veikko rarely calls me. For him to take the initiative to call me, he must havesomething urgent to tell me.”

Artemis darkened his expression at that.

Veikko... That young man is indeed a good-looking guy. His features are unquestionably attractive tothe ladies. Fine. I guess I can't look at another man now without treating them as my rival in love.

Bailey seemed to read through his mind. She smacked his head. “Veikko is like a younger brother to

me. What nonsense are you making up about us in your mind?”

Then, she picked up her phone and answered the call, putting it on speaker.

“Hello? Veikko, why did you call?”

“Bailey, bad news. Shannon is taken away by the guys from Tarragon's branch.”

The look in Bailey's eyes turned cold instantly. She shoved Artemis out of her way and asked in a lowvoice, “Did you find out what happened? Micah and Holden are the vice presidents of Tarragon. Howcould they watch her being taken away?”

After a brief moment of silence, Veikko said through his gritted teeth, “Shannon attempted toassassinate Yvette, the daughter of the previous head of Tarragon. Her assassination failed and endedwith the person in charge of the Tarragon branch catching her red-handed.”

Bailey narrowed her eyes upon hearing that.

Yvette... Isn't she the woman who stood next to Micah the other day during the internationalcompetition? From what Shannon said that day, that woman seemed to be related to all her sufferingsin the past.

Bailey initially planned to have someone investigate more about Yvette for her, but she had to put it onhold for the past few days due to her pregnancy.

It had only been a couple of days since that, but something terrible had already happened to Yvette.

“Did she kill Yvette?”

“No. Micah and his men rushed over just in time to stop that from happening.”

Micah stopped her? Then why was she taken to Tarragon? Could Micah sit back and watch hissubordinates take the woman he loves away?

“Why are they bringing her to Tarragon branch?”

Veikko took a deep breath and gritted his teeth again as he said, “They're planning to let her face herpunishment in Prudent Hall. Shannon pled guilty to assassinating Yvette. She wants to die.”

Upon hearing that, Bailey was so enraged that she gritted her teeth hard until a crunching noise couldbe heard in her jaw.

She should have realized earlier that Shannon would have sought revenge at the expense of her ownlife.
