Chapter 393

Also, who mentioned Legendary Racer would be participating in the contest this year? Why am Iunaware of this? No one informed me of anything. This must be a gimmick by the organizer to promotetheir event.

“Aunt Caridee!”

“Aunt Caridee!”

“Aunt Caridee!”

Three silhouettes dashed in her direction. In the next second, Caridee was surrounded by the kids.

Bailey was just about to remind the children when her phone, placed on the shoe cabinet, rang.

She picked up the phone and took a look at the screen. Then, she arched her brow.

Dexter... This brat must be contacting me because of matters related to the International RacecarTournament. Otherwise, he wouldn't be calling at this juncture.

She entered the study and closed the door before swiping her phone screen to answer the call.

“What's up?”

“Bailey, can you do me a favor? Please participate in the International Racecar Tournament on mybehalf. I can't return to the country because I have some matters to attend to. Everyone in Chanaea iscounting on you.”

Bailey raised her eyebrow. “You don't have a girlfriend nor a wife, so what's keeping you occupied?Besides, the tournament's contestant list is already finalized. You can't just ask someone else toreplace you. If you don't show up, you'll be considered forfeiting the competition automatically.”

“But you're an exception. I believe no one will dare to say a word if you join the competition with thatidentity of yours. Please, pretty please? I really have to deal with this urgent issue. If you don't help me,I may be blacklisted by the association.”

Bailey let out a chuckle. “What's this important matter that can prompt you to give up on your mostpassionate car racing?”

“I'll explain to you when I return to the country. I'm going to board the plane now, so I'll be hanging upnow. I assume you've agreed to my request, so I'll leave this international tournament in your handsnow.”

With that, he ended the call.

Listening to the beeping sound coming from the speaker, Bailey covered her forehead as she felt herheadache.

Being so flashy is genuinely not my style. I just want to live a peaceful and quiet life, but...

Staring at the darkened screen of her phone, she smiled in resignation.

Do I have a choice to refuse now that he has handed this mess to me? I've not participated in car

racing for a long time. Maybe it's not a bad idea to take up his offer.

Late at night, at the Gezmond residence, Wendy sneaked out of the house while hugging Sebastian, who was sound asleep.

Someone was already waiting for them when they reached the car park.

“Ms. Wendy, are you sure you want to leave Hallsbay?”

She gestured at him to be quiet and said in an undertone, “We are leaving discreetly. I've already takencare of the guards at the gates. All you need to do is send us to the harbor, and we'll leave by boat.”

The driver nodded slightly. When he nodded, a glint flashed across his eyes.

“Yes, Ms. Wendy.”

A few minutes later, the vehicle drove out of the mansion silently.

At the same time, in the bedroom of the Gezmond residence, Lionel leaned against the floor-to-ceilingwindow while speaking into his phone.

He had guessed that Wendy would bring Sebastian with her and leave the city, so he instructed hismen to monitor them secretly.

His prediction came true as she did what he anticipated.

He was baffled. He could not understand why she had reacted so drastically after learning Holden was

a member of Tarragon. Are there some past grudges involved in this matter?

“Okay, I got it. Keep an eye on them and see where they're going. Order someone to follow them andensure their safety. Wait for my call.”

“Understood, sir.”

After the car traveled on the road for some time, Wendy sensed something was off. She asked whilewearing a frown, “This isn't the way to the harbor, Tiger. Where are you taking us?”

The driver, Tiger, didn't respond. He merely stared intently ahead.

A sense of foreboding rose within her chest. Wendy instinctively held his son closer and gazedcautiously at the person in the driver's seat. Then, she said through gritted teeth, “Tiger, I have treatedyou well all these years. Why are you betraying me? Stop the car. I'm telling you to stop the car. Do youhear me?” novelbin

After saying that, she reached out to open the door, but it was locked from the outside, so her attemptwas for naught.

That further affirmed her suspicion.

I've been tricked. I'm just wondering if this situation is good or bad for me.

She reached for her phone in a panic but failed to find the device.

Then, she remembered she had passed her handbag to Tiger when she got into the car earlier, and

she had left her phone inside the bag.

“Tiger, what are you trying to do? Tell me.”

“I'm sorry, Ms. Wendy. I have to carry out Mr. Raymond's orders for my family. Don't worry. He justwants to use Mr. Sebastian to force Ms. Juliana to return to the family. Mr. Raymond won't hurt yourchild.”

Wendy grew more agitated at the mention of Raymond's name.

When she looked down, she saw Sebastian staring at her with his clear round eyes.

“S-Sebastian, when did you wake up?”

He shook his head while pursing his lips. “I was never asleep all along. Dad... Lionel said you might dosomething tonight, so he told me to stay vigilant. Mommy, where are you taking me to?”

Wendy wrapped her arms around her son tightly. She wanted to bring him to somewhere no one wouldrecognize them. Regrettably, she couldn't realize that wish now because she had walked right intoRaymond's trap.

Suddenly, the driver slammed on the brakes, causing Wendy and Sebastian to lurch forwarduncontrollably.

Someone opened the car door from outside. The next second, a few bodyguards dressed in blackoutfits snatched Sebastian from her.

“No! Return my child to me. Give him back to me.”

At that moment, a white-haired elderly man strode over from a distance not too far away. He was noneother than Raymond.

As he approached Wendy, he uttered, “Ms. Wendy, the Hoffman family had raised you, yet youabandoned your family for a man. Your younger sister is now the entire family's hope, but she'sfollowing your footsteps of associating herself in an ambiguous relationship with a male outsider.”

Wendy glared at him and bellowed, “What does that have to do with me? I've already cut ties with theHoffman family. Why are you taking my son away from me?”

“Why?” Raymond suddenly flashed a menacing smile. “You two are sisters, so your son is consideredMs. Juliana's nephew, after all. Go back and inform her that if she doesn't return to the Hoffman familywith us, your son won't live past a fortnight. I advise you to take my word seriously. This child is abast*rd, to begin with. The Hoffman family would've eliminated him if Lionel had not tried his best toprotect this child.”

“No!”

Raymond ignored her hysterical screams and ordered his subordinate to grab Sebastian. Then, theyheaded toward the convoy nearby.

Wendy wanted to retrieve her son, but a few men in black halted her.

In the end, she could only slump on the street and watch as the convoy sped away.

Twenty minutes later, Lionel arrived in a hurry, with Juliana trailing behind him.

“Wendy, what happened? Where's Sebastian?”

Wendy grasped Juliana's arm and replied anxiously, “Julie, please save Sebastian. Please save yournephew. H-He was taken away by Mr. Raymond. He wanted you to return to the Hoffman family.Otherwise, he'll kill Sebastian.”

Juliana frowned. As I expected, they are resorting to extreme methods now that they're desperate. Still,I didn't anticipate that old man to be so despicable. I can't believe he's threatening me using a child'slife to force me to return to the family.

“Wendy, get up first. Sebastian is my nephew. You can rest assured because I won't let anything badbefall him.”

Wendy started bawling. I shouldn't have acted so rashly. I already know people from the Hoffmanfamily are in Hallsbay, and they're racking their brains to figure out a way to force Julie to follow themback. What I've done was no different from providing them with the most effective bargaining chip.

“I'm sorry. I've dragged you into this mess, Julie.”
