Chapter 391

Wendy reached out, about to push open the door to the study.

When she heard the conversation going on inside the room, she slowly withdrew her hand.

What is Holden doing in Hallsbay? That man is one of Tarragon's leaders. Does this mean that he hada motive when he approached me all those years ago? Maybe he didn't have any romantic feelings forme at all and simply approached me because he wanted to destroy me.

As Wendy was the heir to the Hoffman family back then, once something happened to her, the entirefamily would be in trouble.

Reality also validated this point. When news about her becoming pregnant from a foreign man brokeout, the entire family erupted in chaos.

If it were not for Lionel secretly lending her a hand, the Hoffman family would have completely fallenapart because she had a premarital pregnancy.

Holden... Oh, Holden... You were just using me, weren't you? I was just a tool to help you destroy theHoffman family. In that case, you don't have the right to know about Sebastian's existence. You don'teven have the right to have a child.

She did not want to let Sebastian meet Holden, and she could not allow her child to have anything todo with Tarragon.

Tarragon and the Hoffman family were mortal enemies and had been for the last hundred years. Therewas no way she would allow her child to be caught up in their power struggle.

It seemed it was time for her to take Sebastian and leave Hallsbay.

The next day, Bailey went to a private room on the third floor of Century Hotel.

When she saw the men who were seated inside, she raised her brows. “Sorry, I was held up on theway. I apologize for making you wait.”

With that, she turned to one of the elderly men and said, “Mr. Raymond, it has been years since I lastsaw you, and you are still as fit as a fiddle. The flight from Moranta must have been very long.”

Raymond looked at her and replied in somewhat awkward Chanaean, “Snowflake, when you took Julieaway from the Hoffman family, you promised that you would take good care of her and not allow her tohave any relations with a foreign man. How do you intend to explain this situation, then?”

Bailey arched a brow. After finding herself a seat, she asked in a confused tone, “Who said that shehad a relationship with a foreign man? Did she lose her virginity or get pregnant?”

“You...”

“Mr. Raymond, this is all just hearsay, so you can't take it seriously. Julie is very obedient now andwouldn't get involved with any man. There is no need for any of you to worry.”

Raymond fell silent for a moment. “No matter if it's true or not, Julie can't be left to her own devices anylonger. Now that she has come of age, it's time for her to make preparations for the succession,” hesaid through gritted teeth.

The corner of Bailey's lips curled up as she replied casually, “I promised her that I wouldn't force her toreturn to the family before she reached thirty. You may come back for her again in a few years.”

Raymond instantly objected, “That won't do. I heard that she has developed feelings for the eldest sonof the Shurmer family and is even by his side all the time. This is definitely not a baseless rumor. Wecan't afford to take risks or make any more mistakes, as Julie is the family's only hope. She must comehome with us this time.”

Mockery flashed across Bailey's face. “And do you think you'll be able to take her away from rightunder my nose?” novelbin

Raymond's expression turned grim.

Bailey's words had destroyed all diplomacy. Without a need to pretend to be polite anymore, he saidcoldly, “Snowflake, you are pretty influential globally, but you are no match for the Hoffman family. Iadvise you not to shoot yourself in the foot. Otherwise, you will come to regret it.”

“Oh? Is that so?” came a deep and rich voice from the doorway.

It was Artemis.

He had arrived without anyone noticing and was leaning against the doorframe casually.

His arms were folded across his chest, with one hand stroking his chin.

There was also a devilish grin etched on his handsome face.

“Don't you all think that threatening my woman on my turf is a foolish thing to do? She's no match foryou? But what if the Luther family gets involved too? Do you think all of you will be able to defeat me onmy territory?”

Raymond's expression changed drastically.

How could I have forgotten that this woman is now related to the Luther family? If they get involved, itwill become a huge problem.

“The Luther family and the Hoffman family have always stayed out of each other's way, Mr. Luther. Doyou wish to destroy the peace and stir up trouble?”

Artemis chuckled lightly. “As long as none of you mess with my woman, the peace can be maintained.Otherwise, if my wife becomes upset, I will go all out to teach whoever hurt her a lesson.”

“You...”

Bailey could sense the tension between the two men getting thicker. She was starting to worry that thiswould escalate into a battle between two powerful families.

“What's the rush, Mr. Raymond? I wasn't done speaking yet. You may take Julie back to the Hoffmanfamily if you want, but you have to give me a month to try and persuade her. If she's agreeable, thenyou can take her with you.”

Raymond's expression darkened. “And what if she doesn't agree?” he asked, gnashing his teeth.

“Then, as her master, I will have to respect her wishes.”

“You...”

Bailey grinned as she rose from her seat and gave Raymond a once-over. “I will persuade Julie toreturn to the family. There is no need to worry,” she added.

Raymond did not respond.

He glared at her, raging with anger but not daring to flare up.

We are on Artemis' territory and can't act rashly. It looks like we have to think of another way.
