Chapter 387

Outside the ward in the military general hospital, Veronique brought the bone marrow donation form tothe Fletcher couple.

All she said to them was, “The Fletcher family is a prestigious one in the political world. Sloan, you wishto rise to the top, so I'm sure you're a man of your word. Now that Mr. Raiden is awake, I'm hoping thatyou'll stick to your promise.”

Sloan narrowed his eyes in silence for a while before saying, “I've already consulted the specialist inthe hospital about the situation. If my daughter's body is capable of withstanding the bone marrowextraction procedure, then we won't need to waste any more time—we'll do the operation right away.On the other hand, if my daughter's body can't withstand it, I'm afraid we won't be able to donate herbone marrow, and we won't budge even if you kick up a fuss about it.”

Veronique sneered.

The military general hospital was part of the Fletcher family's territory. Who would dare to speak thetruth if the Fletchers had bribed the specialists?

It was obvious that they did not want to donate the bone marrow. novelbin

You're burning the bridge after crossing it, but you're asking me to not kick up a fuss? There's no waylife would be that easy for you!

“I think it's best for Ms. Fletcher to undergo a checkup in the General Hospital. After all—”

Before she could finish her sentence, Bailey came out from the intensive care unit and arched a brow.

“What's going on? Why are you all here?”

Veronique was delighted to see her, and she quickly informed the latter about the situation.

Bailey nodded before turning to Sloan with a smile. “Sloan, if you're worried that the extraction of thebone marrow will hurt your daughter's body, then I will tell you with certainty that your worry is fornaught. Although Ms. Fletcher's body is weak, donating her bone marrow is unlike donating her kidney—it won't affect her.”

Yet, before Sloan could say anything to that, Tamara let out an icy laugh. “Why should I believe you? You're on Veronique's side, so naturally, you'd be saying these to help her out.”

Bailey smiled and said, “Well, I'll speak to you as Anonymous, then. The donation of her bone marrowwon't harm her. Are you satisfied with this answer, Mrs. Fletcher?”

“You—”

Instantly, Bailey turned to Sloan and lifted her brows. “The Fletcher family is prestigious, so are yougoing to break your promise like that? I just told you that the bone marrow donation wouldn't affect Ms.Fletcher's health. Don't you think that you should be persuading your daughter to hurry up and do theoperation now?”

Sloan's expression darkened as he uttered, “Are you sure it won't harm my daughter?”

“Absolutely. If anything happens to Ms. Fletcher, feel free to hold me accountable. However, if youdeliberately hurt her and try to hold me accountable for that, I won't entertain you.”

After a moment of silence, Sloan turned to Tamara and said, “Call Lettie and have her come to thehospital as soon as possible for the operation. Let her know that if she refuses to come, she'll no longerbe part of the Fletcher family, and she won't be allowed to enter the house ever again.”

If Bailey ever had any doubts about Tamara and Sloan being a couple, she would not have any now.The two of them made identical kinds of threats.

After Scarlett received her mother's call, she angrily destroyed the decors in the hotel.

It looks like I can't rely on my parents anymore; it's better to rely on myself. Even if I can't get Justin, I'llmake their lives a living hell!

In the afternoon, Scarlett came to the hospital.

To avoid having Scarlett change her mind, Bailey did the operation on her in the military generalhospital. After extracting Scarlett's bone marrow, Bailey passed it to Veronique.

Once Veronique received it, she hurried to the medical base.

Justin had already prepared for the bone marrow transplant. The moment he took the bone marrowsample from Veronique, he told the latter to rest in the room next door while he darted into theoperating room.

It took him hours to transplant the bone marrow to his son, but everything went well.

Justin's friends all let out sighs of relief when they heard the good news.

In the meantime, Bailey remained in the hospital by Raiden's side. Only when midnight came and aftershe was sure that he was no longer in a critical state did she leave the hospital while he was asleep.

The first place she went to after exiting the hospital was the medical base.

Upon hearing from Veronique that the operation was successful, the weight that had been on her chestfor years was finally lifted.

Shannon had lost her son, and Bailey did not wish to see Veronique lose hers as well.

The next day, Dwayne returned.

He immediately went to Bailey after getting off the plane.

The first thing he said to her when they met up was, “Bailey, were you the one who convinced Victoriato leave me?”

Bailey froze.

Without missing a beat, Artemis threw a rough kick at Dwayne. “Be nicer to her. What is with that toneof yours?”

Dwayne rolled his eyes, finally understanding what Micah felt all the time.

So we mean nothing to you when your beloved's around, huh?

Bailey looked at Dwayne and sighed. “Vicky's pregnant, and the baby is Lionel's. She doesn't want towaste your time and feelings, so she chose to leave.”

“Where did she go?” Dwayne urgently asked. “If she's pregnant, then she needs someone to take careof her, now more than ever. Tell me where she is. I'm going to go to her and stay by her side.”

Bailey could see how genuine his love for Victoria was, but that was exactly why she was going to stophim from getting hung up on Victoria.

She did not want him to waste his youth away.

Both Victoria and Dwayne were equally important to Bailey. One was her good friend, and the otherwas her man's good friend.

“Listen to me, Dwayne. Vicky is pregnant with Lionel's child. It's no longer possible for the two of you tobe together. Take my advice and let her go. You'll find a girl who's a match for you in the future.”

Dwayne pursed his lips. He wanted to keep pushing for the answer, but he knew that Bailey was notgoing to tell him.

Left without a choice, he turned to Artemis and uttered, “Artemis, help me out!”

Artemis gave him a cold glance and replied, “Pregnant women shouldn't be worrying about things allthe time. You being by her side will only trouble her and affect her mood. You'll be nothing but a burdenif you stick with her.”

Dwayne's anger evaporated in an instant, and he became dispirited instead.

Artemis' words had hit the bull's-eye.

“All right. Go home and rest for a few days first. Don't keep pestering and annoying her. It's not as ifyour world will collapse if you can't get Victoria. I know that because I don't see any possessive desirein your eyes when you look at her. You don't have romantic feelings for her. You only can't let her gobecause you don't want to admit defeat.”

Dwayne stayed silent.

In the military general hospital, Tamara watched with icy eyes as Olivia entered the ward. She thenscoffed and said, “You now have a daughter-in-law and a grandson, so why have you come?”

Olivia inclined her head slightly as a cold glint flashed past her eyes.

Do you think I want to be here? If not for the Fletcher family's decision-making power in the politicalscene, do you think I'd enjoy bowing to you arrogant people?

“My, what do you mean? Lettie hasn't married Justin yet, so what daughter-in-law can I possibly have, let alone a grandson? Moreover, the Xuereb family isn't going to take in an illegitimate child andhumiliate themselves.”

Right as Tamara was about to spit out a few more mocking words, Scarlett stopped her.

“Thank you for taking the time to visit me, Mrs. Xuereb. Alas, I'm not fated to be your daughter-in-law.”

“Young lady, what are you talking about? Don't worry. I'll make sure that you'll marry Justin. I refuse toaccept anyone but you as my daughter-in-law.”
