Chapter 379

That was the last photo she had taken of Eugene.

Not only did that little boy's death hurt Shannon deeply, but it also left a permanent scar in Bailey'sheart.

She had thought she was mentally strong enough to handle anything in life, only to find herself sotraumatized that she developed a phobia toward operating tables. It got to the extent where shecouldn't pick up a scalpel for three years.

Had it not been for Artemis putting his life on the line, she probably wouldn't go anywhere near anoperating table for the rest of her life.

It felt as though that bloody image had been etched into her very soul.

Micah slowly reached out to take the phone from her. His body began trembling violently when he got acloser look at the picture of the adorable boy on the screen.

What the... This boy looks exactly like me! His facial features are so similar to mine that I can't possiblydeny it!

Bailey looked him in the eye as she said, “The boy was only two and a half years old when he died.Shannon brought him with her as she went out to do some shopping. They were crossing a road whenan SUV came speeding in their direction. The two of them were sent flying by the impact. Shannon waslucky enough to survive the hit, but Eugene... Well, his skull shattered when he hit his head on thecorner of a building. I tried my best to save him, but it was to no avail. Poor Eugene died in that caraccident.”

Drip!

A teardrop rolled down Micah's cheek and fell off his chin, forming a tragically beautiful pattern as it hitthe screen of the phone.

He was a man who killed without blinking an eye, struck fear into people's hearts on an internationallevel, and was treated with respect by countless people.

Despite how tough Micah was, he shed manly tears when he found out about the tragic death of hisson.

As he tried really hard to suppress his sobs, he sounded like a beast that was howling in anguish. novelbin

Bailey turned to look at Artemis—who was standing at the side—for advice on what to do next.

Artemis glanced at Micah and, after a brief moment of silence, said, “Keep going. Tell him everythinghe needs to know.”

Bailey nodded and continued, “The perpetrator claimed that you sent them to kill Shannon and herchild. Throughout the past few years, she has always believed that you were the cause of the caraccident. Eventually, she drove herself crazy.”

Clunk!

Micah dropped the phone to the floor.

He then covered his face with both hands as he tried to stifle his sobs.

Moments later, tears began flowing out of the spaces between his fingers.

Now I see why Shannon hated me so much, why she always glared at me with burning hatred in hereyes. As it turns out, she thinks I sent those people to kill her and our two-year-old son. I know I'm cold-hearted and cruel, but I wouldn't kill innocent people, let alone my own flesh and blood. Looks like shereally doesn't trust me, huh... Well, now that I think about it, she does have a reason to not trust me.After all, she lost her arm when she trusted me too much back then. Given the circumstances, it wasonly natural that she would believe the perpetrators when they told her I ordered the hit.

“I didn't know she was pregnant. Back then, she was determined to leave me. One time, she managedto escape from me successfully. She didn't tell me she was with child at the time, so I had no idea. If Ihad known she was pregnant, I...”

I probably would've left Tarragon and moved somewhere secluded where the three of us could live ourlives peacefully.

Bailey let out a sigh and shot Artemis a glance before walking off.

She believed men were better at comforting each other, so she decided to let Artemis handle himinstead.

She had just reached the door when Micah called out to her from behind, “W-Where's the boy buriedat?”

Bailey paused in her tracks upon hearing that. After a brief moment of silence, she replied calmly,“You'll have to ask Shannon about that. I'm not at liberty to disclose that information.”

She then opened the door and walked out of that room.

Given everything that has happened, there's no real way to determine who's truly at fault here. Theyhave both been through far too much pain over the years. They've been doubting and suspecting eachother for so long that their love has been corrupted beyond salvation.

Meanwhile, in a five-star hotel in Colstrax, Danontand, Victoria opened the door and saw Dwaynestanding outside with a cart filled with food.

“You could just call up room service and have them deliver the food, you know? There's no need foryou to do it yourself,” she said.

Dwayne arched an eyebrow at her and replied with a smile, “It's an honor to be able to serve you. Ihappened to be free anyway, so I figured I might as well do you a favor.”

Lowering her gaze to hide the exasperated look in her eyes, she asked, “Dwayne, why does it have tobe me? Why don't you go after some other girl instead?”

“You're the first girl to win my heart over, so I want to protect you with everything I've got. Please restassured that I have no other intentions toward you,” Dwayne answered after giving it some thought.

Victoria breathed a sigh of relief when she heard that.

He says he has no other intentions toward me. Does that mean he has no romantic feelings for me aswell? Is he simply caring for me out of admiration?

“Dwayne, you should know that I am deeply in love with Lionel. I love him so much that I've lost myselfalong the way.”
