Chapter 346

Bailey went to the seaside mansion that night.

She did not sneak into the mansion this time but openly took down the bodyguards outside and enteredbrazenly.

Meanwhile, Victoria was spacing out in front of the window.

Looking at the skinny and frail figure, Bailey felt a pain in her heart, and tears began to well up in hereyes.

What was Victoria like seven years ago? She was bubbly, active, naive, and lively. Although shedisguises herself as an urban professional woman now, she still carries the temperament and pride ofthe heiress of a prominent family, and her beauty is incomparable. But not even a shadow of her formerself remains anymore since the return of Lionel. This woman, played by fate and destroyed by loveonce before, is beginning to wither now. Can she still return to her old self?

“Bay, you're here.”

Victoria's hoarse voice rang out. Her tone was like that of an elderly, bitter from the vicissitudes of life.

It brought Bailey back to her senses.

She strode over, hugged Victoria from behind, and tried to say in a cheerful tone, “Vicky, I have goodnews for you.”

Victoria moved her body and turned her head slowly, curling the corners of her stiff lips to squeeze out

a forced smile.

“Have you decided to stay in Hallsbay and accept Mr. Luther?”

Bailey shook his head. She leaned forward to rest her head on Victoria's shoulder and said hoarsely,“My child is not dead. He's still alive.”

Alive?

Victoria was momentarily stunned by Bailey's words. Her empty, dull, and unfocused eyes instantlybrightened.

She cast Bailey a flabbergasted look and asked with a trembling voice, “Really?”

“Yes.”

Bailey briefly told Victoria about the situation while getting the latter on her feet. “Vicky, even though lifeis filled with twists and turns, there's always hope as long as we're alive. Isn't that right?”

Victoria's head drooped as she said in a hoarse voice, “Stop persuading me, Bay. When I learned thathis wife tried to take her own life because of me, I began to think about things. While it may seem I'matoning for my sins by staying beside him, what I'm actually doing is destroying his marriage. I can't letmyself continue making mistakes. Please get me out of here.”

What? Wendy tried to take her own life? No wonder Vicky decided to leave. It turns out she wasshocked by the incident.

Having that thought in mind, Bailey said, “All right. Let's leave this place now and start a new life.”

With that, she took Victoria's hand and headed downstairs briskly. Soon, they walked out of the livingroom and disappeared into the night.

When Lionel received the news and rushed to the mansion, the place was already empty.

He scanned the bedroom before his gaze landed on the dressing table.

On it was a piece of paper.

He walked over and saw the tiny words: Goodbye forever, Lionel.

From the words, he could sense Victoria's determination when she left.

In the end, she still refused to listen to him.

He had told her to stay at the mansion and wait for him to return as he wanted to tell her that he hadnever registered his marriage with Wendy. It was only a trick to deceive the others. He did not have ason either since Sebastian was only his foster child.

Still, Victoria left. After leaving a message of “goodbye forever,” she completely withdrew anddisappeared from his life.

Is this fate, Victoria? Are both of us destined to be separated from each other?

Bailey did not hold back and requested a private mansion from Artemis to settle Victoria in.

In one of the bedrooms, she pushed Victoria onto the bed and glared at her. “Now, go to sleep.”

Before Victoria could say anything, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Susan walked in with aplush doll in her arms.

“Vicky must miss me very much. That's why she can't sleep. I'll stay with her tonight.”

Then, she got onto the bed and obediently lay in front of Victoria. “Let's sleep, Vicky.”

Victoria's eyes reddened when she heard that. She embraced Susan from the side and said in achoked voice, “All right. Let's sleep together, Susan.”

Seeing that, Bailey left without another word.

She was not surprised to bump into Artemis in the first floor's living room.

However, she was stunned by Dwayne's presence.

“Why are you here, wily old bird?”

Dwayne rolled his eyes when he heard that.

Wily old bird? What the hell! Is that a new nickname or what?

“Uhm, I've already submitted my resignation letter to Mr. Luther.”

“So? What does it have to do with me?” Bailey responded in contempt.

“I've recommended you to Mr. Luther to take over my place as his special assistant. A special assistantalways sounds better than a secretary, isn't it?” novelbin

Bailey kicked him and shouted, “Get lost.”

Then, she turned to Artemis. “Hey, Ratemis. You really need to be taught a lesson. How can you fireyour sworn brother to make me your secretary?”

Artemis' face twitched after he was dragged into the situation. He helplessly explained, “He plans totake Victoria out of the country for a break, so I've approved him to take leave for three months. Sincehe's accompanying your best friend, you have to cover his place while he's away.”

Looking at Dwayne with a raised brow, Bailey asked, “Do you really have a way to get Victoria to agreeto go out for a break?”

“Well, it depends on whether you allow me to take advantage of the situation or not.”

Bailey gradually composed herself and frowned. “Her reputation is tainted now. Are you still willing tomarry her?”
