Felicity reacted differently from her. Once she heard what her daughter said, she began struggling toget off.
Caridee rushed over to press down on her shoulders and said with a smile, “Mom, just rest at home.Dad has said to not let you go anywhere and make sure you wait at home.”
Felicity instantly grabbed her daughter's wrist and stammered, “Are the two kids fine? Are the toxinsout of their body?”
“Yes, yes.” Caridee smiled at her mother and happily said, “Not only are Zayron and Susan fine, butMax even woke up from his coma.”
Felicity froze, clearly needing time to process what Caridee just said. Then, she began shaking.“Caridee, what did you say? Max is awake too?”
“Yes! Max is awake. Your precious grandson is awake.”
While she spoke, Caridee glanced at Rhonda from the corner of her eyes. It was then she saw thescrunched-up features and ferocious look on Rhonda's face. Caridee's heart sank.
Maxton's awakening did not seem to be joyous news for Rhonda. On the contrary, she seemed furious.
But why? Isn't Max her biological son?
“He's awake. He's awake,” Felicity muttered under her breath. Once she came back to her senses, shegrabbed Rhonda's arm and cried out, “Ronni, did you hear her? The three kids are all fine, and yourson has woken up from his coma!”
Rhonda was about to implode from the fury, but she still slapped a look of pleasant surprise on herface. “Yes, I heard her. I knew that the Luther children would be fine.”

In a café at the corner, a man and a woman sat by the window seat.
Bailey was looking at Zeke with a raised brow. “May I know why you've invited me here, Mr. Shurmer?”
Zeke watched her with gentle eyes, completely unlike the rumored head of the Shurmer family.
Indeed, he had some bizarre feelings for her. Her face kept reminding him of his mother, so he thoughtof her as his younger sister.
“Thank you for having mercy on my sister, Ms. Jefferson. If not for the evidence you provided to thecourt that proved the medication was fine, my sister would have been charged guilty. She might haveended up getting sentenced to a few years in jail.”
However, Bailey flashed him a smile and said, “Mr. Shurmer, are you trying to point out how I'vefalsified the evidence?”
Zeke froze and frowned. “I don't understand what you're trying to say, Ms. Jefferson. Please enlightenme.”
Bailey took a sip of her coffee and slowly said, “There was indeed an issue with that batch ofmedication from Dyke Pharmaceutical, but your sister wasn't the one who did something to it.Cadence, who died in the abandoned factory yesterday, was the true culprit. I always thought that youwere part of the incident—that you were Cadence's accomplice, so I've been keeping my guard upagainst you all this time. You have my apologies for that. Zeke raised his brows in response. “I see. Thank you for clarifying this to me, Ms. Jefferson. Indeed,my sister has made a mistake. The Shurmer family should extend our gratitude to you for beingmerciful to her.”
Bailey waved dismissively. “My mercy was conditional. It's to repay the favor Artemis owed her.”
