Ken was the one speaking as he stood in front of the slightly arced desk.
Artemis leaned back in his chair and lightly tapped his fingers against the desk, eliciting a clearrhythmic sound.
After a short silence, Artemis finally spoke. “I didn't expect the Cyber Security Department to interfereso quickly. It looks like the Fletcher family's status within the political world is indeed significant. Theycan even give orders to a governmental department.”
Ken nodded. “If a federal department joins the investigation, it'll be difficult even for an excellent hackerlike Ms. Jefferson to avoid detection. Moreover, she even left some traces in the research institute'sdatabase. That's like a beacon, asking for an investigation.”
Artemis rubbed his temples, feeling a headache forming. “I'll take over Bailey's account and draw theattention of the Cyber Security Department away from her. We'll talk about what happens next afterthat.”

Artemis read his mind and chuckled. “She's my woman. I'm willing to risk my life in exchange for hersafety if she needs it, let alone taking the fall for her,” he drawled out.
With that, Artemis bent over the computer, and his fingers started tapping on the keyboard swiftly.
Coincidentally, she isn't in the office right now since she left for the pharmaceutical factory for somework. I should be able to find her hacker account and login password if I hack into her office's computersystem.
The sounds of furious tapping on the keyboard echoed across the spacious office.
After a moment, he discovered something on her computer that turned his stony expression black.
Resignation letter.
The two eye-catching words came into his sight. He felt a knot in his chest, constricting his airway. Hisbreathing turned shorter as though something was squeezing his heart.
Bailey! How dare she even think about leaving Hallsbay. It looks like Old Mr. Chivers really did saysomething that provoked her. And now, she's thinking of a way to leave me. Great!
Ken noticed the dark look on Artemis' face and couldn't help but ask, “What's wrong, Boss? Are youunable to hack into Ms. Jefferson's computer?”
Artemis dragged his gaze away from the screen and glared at Ken. “What do you think?” he returned.

Ken slapped himself across the face. “I spoke without thinking. There's no system that you can't hack inthis world. Ms. Jefferson's capabilities can't rival yours. If you do it seriously, you'll definitely leave herfar behind in a trail of smoke.” novelbin

Artemis scoffed and returned his gaze to the screen. Looking at the resignation letter, he suddenlychanged his mind.

Artemis smiled. I want to expose all her identities and leave her with no choice but to stay by my sidewith no way to run.
“Go make the arrangements, and I'll think of a way to persuade Bailey to participate in the competition.”
“Yes, sir.”
Meanwhile, Waverly sat on the couch in the living room of the Shurmer residence and smiled at thecouple standing in front of her. “This is a match made in heaven. Both of you look perfect together. Itrust that your mother will rest in peace now.”
Lionel lowered his head, not responding to her praise.
Beside him, Wendy answered, “Thank you for your praise, Aunt Waverly. Even though I've never mether, I'm sure she was a virtuous person. Don't worry. I'll take good care of Lionel.”
“Wonderful! I feel assured after seeing you two treat each other with respect.”
She gestured for them to take a seat. “Don't just stand there. Come and have a seat. It has been solong since we've talked. Before you guys arrived, I called Zeke to have him come back to keep youcompany. Stay for lunch.”
Lionel suddenly broke his silence. “I'm sure he's busy. With Dyke Pharmaceutical being in charge of theproduction of the new anti-cancer drug, he probably has a lot on his plate at the moment. Let's not
trouble him. We'll leave in a while.”
“That won't do.” Waverly glared at him. “We haven't seen each other for a while. I'll take it as youlooking down on me if you don't stay for lunch.”
Lionel's lips curved into a resigned smile. “You're exaggerating.”
Wendy chimed in, “Listen to Aunt Waverly, Nell. Lunch won't take up much of our time anyway.Besides, we'll be returning to Moranta in two days. Who knows when we'll meet next?”
“You're going back to Moranta in two days?” Waverly frowned. “Why don't you stay at Hallsbay for alittle longer? It'll be Thanksgiving in a fortnight. Your uncle will be back in Hallsbay then. I was thinkingthat we could all have dinner together.”
Wendy smiled. “Oh, I'm sorry, but there's still a lot of things we have to settle back in Moranta. We—”
Before she could finish, Lionel cut her off. “I won't be leaving Hallsbay temporarily, Aunt Waverly. As forlunch, I still have something to deal with, so no thanks. I'll visit again when Uncle returns.”
Lionel rose to his feet, ready to leave.
Wendy's expression froze as the delight in her eyes dimmed.
Of course I'm aware of why Lionel wants to stay in Hallsbay. It's all for that Saunders woman. ThisVictoria is way too detestable. I used seven years to soothe the wound in Lionel's heart. Yet, all it tookwas that woman's appearance to crush all those years of effort.
Zoey's lips quirked up into a smile when she caught the hostility that flashed across Wendy's eyes.
I think I have an ally now.
“You go deal with your work, Lionel, but Wendy has to stay back to keep me company.”
