Despite being one of the Ten Acclaimed Socialites, Zoey had a really nasty temper.
“How stupid. What's the point of doing it after the ceremony? The only way to stop this wedding is toact before they walk the red carpet! Is that understood?” she scolded.
“Y-Yes, I'll make the arrangements right away!”
Zoey gently swirled the glass in her hand as her lips curled into a malicious smile.
Oh, things are about to get interesting. There's no way the Luther family would be able to continue thewedding after everyone sees Rhonda having sex with some random stranger! This is what she gets forstealing my man!
Having lost her patience after waiting seven long years, Zoey was determined to kick Rhonda out of theLuther family for good.
Meanwhile, a waiter entered the dressing room with a glass of milk on a tray.
“Here you go, Mrs. Luther. Have some milk. You haven't eaten anything all morning.”
Since Rhonda was indeed feeling a little hungry, she took the glass of milk over without giving it muchthought. “Step outside, all of you. I want some time alone.”
“Yes.”
About five minutes later, Rhonda realized something was not right as her body started heating up, and
waves of discomfort swept over her.
Thinking she had yet to recover from her recent miscarriage, Rhonda staggered to her feet andglanced about. Since there were no restrooms in the dressing room, she lifted the hem of her gown andwent looking outside.
The corridor was completely quiet as she made her way toward the restroom at the end of it.
Suddenly, the door to one of the rooms along the corridor was opened. An arm then reached out anddragged her into the room.
“Ah! Help—”
The door closed before she could finish her sentence, and the corridor was plunged into silence onceagain.
Meanwhile, Felicity was socializing with a couple of wealthy women when Beatrice politely interruptedthem and pulled her aside.
“It's almost eleven now, Mrs. Luther. Why isn't Artemis here yet?”
“What? It's eleven already?” Felicity paused and glanced at her watch. “Oh, my goodness! I was sobusy socializing with the guests that I forgot about the time! I'll give Artemis a call and ask him wherehe's at!”
She then retrieved her phone from her handbag and punched in Artemis' number.
Right as she was about to make that call, the projector on the stage started flickering all of a sudden.What followed was an ear-piercing buzz and shocking footage.
As the lighting in the footage was bright enough, all the guests were able to see what was going onclearly.
The sounds of them gasping in shock echoed throughout the hall, and everyone started freaking outmoments later.
“My goodness! Isn't that the bride?”
“Who else would be wearing a wedding gown worth three hundred million?” novelbin
“What is she doing? Is she having a quick one before the wedding ceremony? That guy on top of herdoesn't look like Mr. Luther, though...”
“Oh, my... Is she seriously cheating on Mr. Luther in front of everyone?”
Felicity and Beatrice were so shocked that they both froze on the spot.
Standing among the crowd, Gerald simply frowned when he saw the footage.
Clarence, on the other hand, was panicking so much that he felt tempted to just flee the scene.
“Mmph...”
A questionable moan could be heard coming from the speakers, causing the guests to lose their mindsonce again.
“Whoa! Did you hear that? She sounds like she's enjoying it!”
“This has got to be the most exciting wedding I've ever been to my entire life! Is this how the mostprominent family in Hallsbay prefers its weddings?”
“What are you guys standing around for? Let's go to the dressing room and watch from there!”
Felicity felt her legs giving out beneath her.
Fortunately, Caridee happened to be nearby and caught her just in time. “Go have a look, Mom! I'll callArtemis and tell him to come over!”
Gerald came over and helped hold Felicity steady as he said, “Calm down. For now, let's just head overto the dressing room and find out what's really going on. Caridee, tell Simon to lock the place down andcut the livestream. After that, you can give Artemis a call.”
“Got it, Dad!”
Meanwhile, in Shelbert Condominium, Artemis and Bailey exchanged glances when they saw thelivestream of the wedding.
“Pfft! Looks like you won't be able to carry out your plan, Mr. Luther! Someone else has made theirmove on Rhonda!” Bailey exclaimed with a snicker.
The look in Artemis' eyes turned gloomy as he uttered, “First an abortifacient, and now a knock-outdrug... Just who did Rhonda make an enemy of?”
Bailey froze upon hearing that. “You mean the person who drugged Rhonda is the same one who gaveher the abortifacient a few days ago?”
Artemis shook his head. “I'm not sure. This is just my guess at the moment. I'll need to head over toCentury Hotel and investigate this matter.”
Meanwhile, in the dressing room, Rhonda had truly experienced what it was like to fall from grace asshe lay shivering in Beatrice's arms with a red blanket wrapped around her body.
“You're okay now, Ronni. Everything is all right. Don't be afraid, okay?” Beatrice comforted her, butRhonda was in too much shock to hear her.
I can't believe I got violated at my own wedding! This has got to be the most humiliating thing I've everexperienced! How will I ever recover from this?
Gerald sat in front of her with Felicity, who had passed out from the shock in his arms.
“This isn't Ronni's fault, Mr. Luther. Someone set her up! Luckily for us, we were able to stop it beforethings got out of hand. All that's left to do is investigate this matter and find out who did it!” Clarencemumbled nervously from the side.
Gerald simply kept quiet.
Suddenly, the door to the dressing room was opened, and Simon came in saying, “Dad, we have the
situation outside under control. All the guests and journalists are currently being contained in the eventhall. I have yet to find out who drugged Rhonda, though. Whoever it was did a really good job atcovering their tracks. I can't find anything from the surveillance camera footage, either.”
Gerald nodded. “What about your brother? Is he here?”
“He said he'll be here soon.”
Gerald gave it some thought and told Clarence, “Looks like we won't be able to proceed with thiswedding today. While this incident has brought great shame to both our families, everyone else willplace the blame on your daughter alone if we can't find out who drugged her.”
After hearing that, Clarence went pale instantly
No, this can't be happening! I've been waiting for my daughter to marry into the Luther family for somany years! Why would something like this happen now?
Rhonda, who had been silent the whole time, stammered all of a sudden, “N-No, I'm not canceling thewedding! I will become Artemis' bride no matter what!”
