Dwayne was stumped, and his expression darkened. I can't compete against Lionel's familybackground. I can't save Victor. If I ignore everything and bring Victoria away, that'll definitely angerLionel. By then, Victor will get convicted. I can't afford to bear the consequences.

With that, he hung up the phone and shared a glance with the man next to him before bringing theother man toward the exit.
Seeing that, Victoria grew anxious.
She then quickly got off the couch and wanted to stop the men from leaving. Dwayne stopped her fromdoing that.
“Let me go, Dwayne. Let me go! After tonight, Victor and the Saunders family will be free. I'll neverhave to deal with Lionel again. That's the best outcome for me, and that's my only way out. Please letgo of me, okay?” Victoria pleaded. novelbin
Dwayne pursed his lips because he couldn't bear to hear her cry for another second. In the end, hestruck her on the back of the neck and knocked her out.
While looking at her teary face, Dwayne uttered gently, “I'm sorry, but I can't bear to see you beingtaken advantage of. Although you don't love yourself, you have others who care about you.”
Meanwhile, in the Gezmond residence, Wendy was on the phone with someone while leaning againstthe floor-to-ceiling windows. “How did it go? Did you manage to find Mr. Gezmond?”
The person on the other end of the phone answered respectfully, “Mrs. Gezmond, Mr. Gezmond hadgone to Aurora Club, and he met Ms. Victoria in the underground parking lot. I don't know what wassaid between them. As for what happened after that, it seems like someone is deliberately trying tocover it up, so I couldn't find that out either.”

Wendy thought Lionel had gotten home, so she quickly turned around gleefully. However, she saw amiddle-aged woman walking in with a plate of fruits.
Wendy instinctively frowned and growled in displeasure, “Do you usually not knock, Mrs. Gezmond?”
The middle-aged woman was Kimberly Cook, Lionel's stepmother. Seven years ago, Vincent trickedLionel into bed with her. Because of that, the Gezmond family's reputation was ruined, and Lionel'sfather died of anger as a result.
With an awkward expression, Kimberly answered, “I knocked. I think you didn't hear it because youwere on the phone. Since I didn't get a response, I came in straightaway. I'll be more careful next time.”
Wendy shot her a look in response. She then thought of something, and the solemn look on her facedisappeared in an instant. With a smile, she apologized, “I've misunderstood you. I'm sorry.”
With that said, she threw her phone aside and walked toward Kimberly to hold her arm.
After helping her to the couch, Wendy chuckled and said, “Since you're Lionel's stepmother and I'mLionel's wife, you're my mother-in-law. You've been taking care of the Gezmond family all these years,and Lionel really appreciates you. From now on, we'll serve and take care of you.”
A strange light glinted in Kimberly's eyes. She was an intelligent woman, and she was good at readingpeople. That was why Lionel's father had fallen for her and married her.
“Wends, why isn't Lionel back yet? It's already so late at night. Is he meeting someone?” Kimberlyasked.

Artemis tossed a side glance at Dwayne and uttered half-jokingly, “Isn't this your perfect chance? Areyou really such a gentleman? You can have her here and now!”
