“My dear friend, are you sure you heard what I said? I just said Mrs. Luther wanted to announce Ms.Rhonda's pregnancy to the public. She also wants to announce your marriage to Ms. Rhonda. Thechild in her belly—”
“It is mine for now,” Artemis said flatly.
Dwayne was at a loss for words.
“All right. Get out if you have nothing else to say. Don't get involved in the press conference. Just let mymother carry it out.” Artemis waved his hand as he would to a fly.
After watching Dwayne leave, Bailey raised her brow as she gazed at Artemis, chuckling. “Are you sureyou're going to go with my idea? Once Mrs. Luther tells the world that Rhonda is pregnant, everyonewill think the child in her belly is yours. It isn't that easy being someone who's cheated on.”
“It doesn't matter.” As Artemis grabbed her waist, he leaned into her ear and nibbled it.
“Oh, well. As long as it makes you happy. We'll teach her a good lesson once we prove she's not Max'smother. Let her enjoy her life for now. That way, she can experience the feeling of falling from heavento hell.”
That afternoon, Felicity held a press conference at Luther Group's conference room, announcing to theworld that Rhonda was one month into her pregnancy.
The news was a shock to the upper-class society.
It was a known fact that Artemis did not like Rhonda. Hence, he had always been indifferent to her forthe past seven years. In fact, no one knew when she would be married into the family.
Just as everyone was making jokes about her, she had secretly lured Artemis to bed her, causing herto be pregnant with his child. Basically, she had turned her situation around again.
“Mrs. Luther, when will Mr. Luther and Ms. Rhonda's marriage be held?”
“We are curious. Ms. Rhonda is already bearing the second child. The wedding should be happeningsooner than expected, right?”
Felicity did not have an accurate answer to those questions. Thus, she only managed, “Rhonda hascontributed greatly to the Luther family by bearing our family children. I've already acknowledged heras my daughter-in-law long ago. As for the wedding, it should be happening soon. I'll hold anotherpress conference to announce it.”
Meanwhile, in the living room of the Luther residence, Gerald grabbed the remote control on the coffeetable and turned off the television.
Caridee, who had been sitting beside him, seem rather confused after watching the press conference.She asked, “Daddy, why is Mommy in a rush to announce Rhonda's pregnancy? They had justconfirmed her pregnancy. And now, she's telling it to the world. What exactly is Mommy up to?”
Gerald shook his head with a smile. A sigh escaped his mouth as he said, “That's because thedaughter-in-law I prefer isn't Rhonda. The future matriarch of the Luther family should be aninternational socialite. Rhonda hasn't reached my standards yet, even if she had borne Artemis a son.Still, she's not the ideal candidate I want.”
That piqued Caridee's interest. She scooted over to Gerald and held his arm, asking curiously, “Rhondaisn't your ideal daughter-in-law? Then, who's your ideal daughter-in-law? Come on. Tell me.”
Gerald smiled and said gently, “Zoey Shurmer, the eldest daughter of the Shurmer family of Lostaria.She's one of the Ten Acclaimed Socialites. She's very polished and elegant. Only she is worthy of youreldest brother.”
Caridee snorted. “Zoey, eh? Your taste is definitely better than Mommy's. I heard that many princes ofDanontand, Gregan, and other countries want to take Zoey's hand in marriage to build a connectionthrough marriage. Unfortunately, she has very high standards and fancies none of them.”
As soon as she finished, she blinked and grinned at Gerald. “Don't tell me you like Zoey because ofAunt Waverly? Didn't you pursue Aunt Waverly when you were younger? She then married theShurmer family and gave birth to Zoey. Have you fallen in love with Aunt Waverly so much that youlove her family, too? Is that why you think Zoey's the ideal daughter-in-law for Artemis?”
Gerald glared at her. “Nonsense. Your mom's imagination is going to run wild if she hears this. Besides,who doesn't admire anyone when they were younger? So many years have passed. I've been marriedto your mother for over twenty years, and she's borne me children. Isn't that greater than the puppylove from my younger days?”
Caridee pouted and mumbled, “I'm just kidding. Why do you have to be so fierce?”
She had finally understood why Felicity wanted to announce Rhonda's pregnancy.
Felicity had been feeling upset over the fact that Gerald had once pursued Waverly when he wasyounger. When Felicity found out Gerald wanted to have a marriage connection with the Shurmerfamily, she quickly grabbed hold of Rhonda to prevent Zoey from marrying into the Luther family.
Felicity was determined to make Artemis marry Rhonda, even if the Jefferson family's background wasnot as great as the Shurmer family's.
“Is this you taking a step back by letting Mommy hold a press conference? Does that mean you'veaccepted Rhonda?”
Gerald massaged his temples and said suggestively, “I'm afraid I have no choice but to accept Bailey ifI reject Rhonda. I'd rather your brother marry Rhonda instead of Bailey. Perhaps I'm not fortunateenough to have Zoey become my daughter-in-law.”
In the meantime, Rhonda was leaning against the bed and rubbing her flat belly in the room.

Suddenly, someone kicked the door open with a loud bang.

Maxton walked straight to the side of her bed and glared at her, hissing, “Didn't you say you love me?Why do you have to get pregnant again? Do you want to give birth to another son to fight for the familyassets with me?”
Rhonda was speechless.
Clearly, she did not understand what he was clamoring about. After being momentarily stunned, shereached out and held Maxton's arm. “Max, why would you think that? Isn't it great that I'm giving you ababy brother? You two can keep each other company in the future.”
Maxton harrumphed.
Truth was, Maxton had given Zayron a call and discovered that Artemis had not slept with Rhonda amonth ago.

“Fine. You can give birth to him, but you have to swear to Grandpa and Grandma that he'll never takemy inheritance in the future.”
Rhonda slowly clenched her fist, and her gaze gradually turned frosty. She questioned through grittedteeth, “Maxton, he's your brother. How could you be so hostile to him?”
Maxton twitched his lips. Hah. I'm finally seeing her vicious side. Looks like my plan is effective. I'm
sure she'll attack me if I agitate her. This time, I'm going to get proof and make her get jailed for the restof her life.
“His presence is basically an act of taking my inheritance from me. Isn't it only right that I'm hostiletoward him? There's no such thing as familial affection in wealthy families, let alone brotherly love andrelationships. There's only profit. With that, he turned around and shot out of the room.
