Megan 3- Avoiding and alert
“Bellamy Kane, what the hell were you thinking running off like that?!” | demand when he answers the phone. | can hear himgrowling, clearly pissed off.
“Not now Megan. This is none of your business.” He insists. | roll my eyes even though hecan't see it.
“It is my business when my brother storms out and my best friend runs home in tears.” | point out. Bellamy is quiet for a minutebefore speaking.
“She... she left?” He asks blankly.
“Well duh, Darrien took her home. What did you think would happen? She insisted on leaving right away because she didn’t wantYOU to be uncomfortable in your own home. So again | ask, what the hell were you thinking?” | ask again.
“That she clearly doesn’t care. If she did then she wouldn't have hidden this from me. | am an Alpha, | could have anyone | want.Why should | go chasing after someone who doesn’t really want me?” He half yells the words but | answer him quietly..
“Because she’s the only person you want to chase after. Give it some time, go for a run, yell, scream, punch a tree. Do what youneed to do, then go talk to the girl. | promise she is just ast confused as you are.” | tell him. | hear him scoff loudly.
“How can she be confused? She already has all the answers, her magic makes sure of that.”He points out. | sigh.
“There’s a difference between knowing how something should be and knowing how to make that happen. That girl has beenalone her whole life, did you think she would just fall into your arms? Walk out of the life she knows and adjust to yours withouttrying? Don’t be an idiot Bellamy. Life is never that simple.” With my part said | hang up on him. | don’t know if he will go afterher, but Ryann can’t explain herself if he doesn’t give her a chance. All | really know for sure is that if Bellamy can’t pull his headout of his ass this is going to be a long night.

Well. It was a very long night. Bellamy came home in the early hours of the morning looking exhausted and miserable. He clearlydidn’t try to talk to Ryann but before | can say a word about it he storms upstairs to his room and closes the door firmly behindhim. | head into my own room. I’m kind of exhausted too, | waited up for Bels. He could have called if he wasn’t planning to comehome. Maybe | should take a nap? | notice my phone ringing and dive for
1. it. Called ID says it’s Ryann. | speak before she can get a word out.“What can | do to help you?” | feel terrible about all this. | should have kept my mouth shut.
“Nothing Megan. We just leave it. You shouldn’t mess with fate. Bellamy found out and look what happened. That was withoutme actively trying to interfere. The best thing | can do is leave him alone. It’s not our time yet.” Ryann sounds heartbroken even ifshe is trying to act
brave.“But, you’re miserable, he’s miserable. | can’t just do nothing.” | object.
“You can and you will. Besides, you have a wedding to keep yourself occupied. | won’t be coming round for a while. If you needto see me we can meet up or you can come here if you like.” Ryann tells me firmly. Seriously? She isn’t even going to come andvisit anymore? | understand why but how is she going to make up with my brother if she’s avoiding him? | suppose this is more
of her trying not to force herself into his life.
“Can | come now?” | ask. Maybe | can talk her into at least calling him before totally isolatingherself from him.
“| have work later, and | need to do laundry. I'll see you later. | should go. Bye Megan.” Ryann hangs up on me quickly. | supposeshe doesn’t want to deal with my pestering right now. | hope she isn’t mad at me, my harassing her into confessing was whatstarted this. | decided I’m done with it. | won’t pester her anymore. She is an adult and she can make her own choices, even if |don’t agree with them. I'll just do my best to be there and support her in the meantime. | can’t make the same promise to Bellamythough. I’m his sister, it’s my job to
pester him.
| did plan to talk to Bellamy as soon as he came out of his room, but apparently talking to someone living in the same house asme isn’t as simple as it sounds. Somehow, Bellamy manages to stay busy, out, or in ‘important meetings‘ for about a week and ahalf. When | finally catch him, it’s around two in the morning. | left my door open a crack and have been

listening out for him. | hear him creep out of his room and down to the kitchen. | follow him down and position myself in thekitchen doorway so that the only way out is past me. | watch for a moment as he rummages in the cupboards for a snack. Hedoesn’t notice me right away which really is a sign of how exhausted he is. He’s usually on high alert, for him to miss mefollowing him he would have to be really out of it. I'm not surprised. | don’t think he has slept for more than an hour or two sincehe and Ryann fought. He looks awful. Pale with dark shadows under his eyes. Shifters aren’t meant to be separated from theirmates for any length of time. It won’t kill him, but he will be a total mess. How can he take care of himself when he’s too busyobsessing over someone else?
“You look like crap.” | say loudly causing him to jump and drop the packet of chips he had just pulled out of the cupboard.Bellamy grunts as he bends to pick it up.
